Just about everyone was sure it was a vampire who had killed Maudette and Dawn. Some hypothesized that it was Bill and I'd get told to watch out for him. While others thought it was a random vamp from the bar-hopping that got them killed. Almost all of them thought they got what was coming if they were to lay down with the dead.
Jason decided to take a few days off work both gran and I tried to convince him otherwise. He certainly wouldn't help himself by doing that. He was a man that " dated" both of those women. After work I went home to change my clothes, I wanted to look nice but still be appropriate for the kind of establishment I would be attending tonight.
A slinky black dress draped across my body. The fabric clung to my curves in just the right way. Red fuck me pumps were the shoe of tonight, they were knock-off Louboutin's. I revised my flat wrap, this time it was smoothed back into a high ponytail. My bangs side swept instead of parted. Of course, I had to be dramatic with the makeup, it was more soft glam but with larger lashes.
Gran was trying to get me to wear a sweater with the dress, but I refused politely. I stopped by Merlotte's to grab my check. I hadn't anticipated the hoop and holler, Lafayette was looking through the hatch, he was the one making all the noise.
I blushed and did a little spin for him. Sam had yet to turn around to see what all the ruckus was about, but when he did I had never seen a man turn red so quick. René was there, Hoyte was too. They both worked with Jason on the road crew. Jason whose eyes were open wide.
"Sissi, why ain't you got clothes on?"
"Now, Jason. I don't want to hear it. I've got another date. Sam, can I have my check please?"
"Uh... yeah! It's right here." I followed him into the back office. "You going out with Bill again? Tara stopped by the other day and was talking Lafayette's ear off."
"Yes."
"You be careful alright? Too much is going on."
"I'll be safe, I promise."
I left without too much more resistance. Jason was still talking about my clothes. He should worry more about himself instead of what I got going on. As I pulled up home, I noticed that Bill was already there. He must be inside waiting on me. I do hope Gran wasn't talking his ear off. Once Bill caught sight of me, I'd known he wasn't very happy with my outfit either.
His face was stony, couldn't tell exactly what he was feeling. To rub it in his face, I made sure to ask if Gran thought I looked good. She knew what I was doing, all she said was that it was cold outside. I smirked at them both, grabbed my purse, a small jacket, it didn't cover much but my arms and we were off. Once in the car, he finally spoke.
"I'm not sure I can get you in and out of that Club without killing someone wearing that..."I looked over to him, he was giving me the side-eye.
" Bill is there something you would like to say?"
" Sissi, you look like vampire bait." I decided to take that as a compliment.
"Good, you're my vampire now hush and appreciate the bait." He got a good chuckle from that remark.
As we pulled up to the club, I noticed that it was near Sam's Club and Walmart. The club was housed in a shopping mall strip. The name Fangtasia was written in jazzy lettering in neon red.
A blonde Lady Vamp stood at the door, she carded me, nodded her head at Bill. She clearly recognized him as one of her kind. She said something to him that I didn't quite catch. Once we entered, I asked him what he said.
" I told her I'm mainstreaming ... living among humans. "
I caught a full glimpse of the club, I took it all in, there were photos of all the movie vamps on the walls. From very well known to obscure, the interior was black, grey, and red. The lights were dim, and the patrons were well varied between tourists and the groupies called fang-bangers.
As we made our way to the bar, I watched the patrons and tried to get a read on them but most just wanted sex.
The bartender was a Native American who looked severely handsome, his nose was crooked, a thin mouth, and bone straight black hair. He wasn't ugly, but he wasn't a conventional beauty either, I kinda liked it.
"How's it going Bill? "the bartender asked while looking at me. His crooked smile exposed his red-stained fangs.
"Is this your meal for the night? " I didn't like the way he said that one bit.
"No, I am not. I'll take a Vodka Cranberry."
"Well then, it's coming right up." Something about the way he kept staring at me made my hair stand up. Bill ordered three bottles of True-Blood.
" Can I ask you a few questions?"
"Depends on what you're asking?" I took out three photos. Maudette and Dawns were from newspapers, while Jason's was a family photo.
"I've seen the women but not the man ... is he your brother? "
"It doesn't matter, who he is. Thank you for telling me you've seen them. Can you tell me who they were with?"
"I wouldn't have noticed, and neither will you " he responded like it was a threat. He pointed to Dawn's photo," However, she wanted to die, I can tell you that."
"What do you mean? Die?"
"Everyone who comes here does, to one extent or another," he said matter-of-factly "That is what we are...Death" his hands raised into the air and he shimmed his hips to the music.
I didn't respond other than thanking him for taking the time to help me. Bill took my hand, we sat at an empty booth. While he uncapped his drink, I sipped mine.I couldn't help but ponder about what the bartender said about everyone in attendance wanting to die. Bill noticed, he was waiting for me to volunteer my thoughts.
" Do you believe that I want to die? I'm here, associating with y'all I mean..." Bill was silent for a second then spoke truthfully.
" I think you want a lot of things but dying isn't one of them. You're scared of what's going on and want to put an end to it. You're used to knowing what's going on around you; even when you don't want to and the fact that you don't has you rattled."
I blinked at him, then just accepted what he said as probably true. Soon after sitting a skinny brunette with frizzy hair came up to the table. She plopped down opposite of us and then offered herself. She tapped the bottle cap on the table
" I've got the real thing handsome."
I rolled my eyes before I could retort Bill responded.
" I have a companion."
" She doesn't have any bite marks." The strange sad woman ignored my presence altogether. I was beginning to lose my patience.
"What's it to you? Should I go searching, counting all your marks? "I said with a fiery tongue, Bill gazed at me with shock. She got up in a huff, she was the first of four, but Bill handled the rest of them.
" You don't want to hear the words I'm thinking of saying about these pitiful people."
"You're the one that wanted to come here."
"You didn't say it would be like... this. Besides, I came here not to drink, or be drunk from. I just need to show these pictures around and then we can leave."
Bill scanned the room trying to see who wasn't too busy. He caught the gaze of a blonde male vampire who had motioned for us to come over to him.
Bill didn't look too happy, but he stood up and held out his hand for me to take. My heels clicked on the floor as we made our way over to said vampire.
I noticed that the blonde lady vampire from earlier sat next to him. They both were in thrones lording over the club. I watched as a pitiful human man crawled across the floor to kiss her shoe. She thanked him by kicking him in the shoulder so hard he went flying.
I couldn't help but smirk, If I could, I'd have done the same. It's disgusting the way they throw themselves. Make fools of themselves just to get a taste, maybe Tara was right. This V problem was rampant! We were now standing in front of them both, she was sizing me up. They both were it seems.
"Bill."
"Eric."
" Who's your friend," The lady seductively asked. I assume she forgot my name even though she carded me. To be fair she probably sees so many, I didn't let it hurt my feelings.
" I can speak for myself. The name is Sissi Stackhouse. "
"Aren't you sweet" The vampire known as Eric spoke down to me.
"Not really." My response earned a smirk.
" My apologies, this is Pam, I am Eric, "
"Well Eric, Pam would you mind if I asked you some questions?"
" Like how long our fangs are or if we sleep in coffins." Pam looked on tired as if she had been asked those a million times.
"No ma'am. " she perked up a bit and nodded so I took that as a yes. I pulled the photos out of my purse and handed them over
" Have you seen any of these people around here?" It was just the two this time I left Jason's out just in case they got any ideas.
" I have been with her, she liked pain," Eric spoke first and gave me Dawn's photo back. Pam looked taken aback but followed suit.
" I've seen both of them, this one was pitiful, but I've never been with them". She gave me Maudette's photo, I smiled and thanked them for their time. I turned to leave but Bill kept on standing with his feet planted firmly. For the first time, I noticed the tension between the two.
" Bill are you attached to your friend?" I linked my hand with Bills, our fingers interlocking.
"Yes, I am his, Eric. From now on i'd appreciate being spoken to and not about." Pam looked like she wanted to say something but held her tongue. While Eric gave me a once over, this time he actually looked at me. As a person, not just a piece of meat.
" You have no fear, Ms. Stackhouse. Most humans would know better."
" I'm not most humans, why should I fear you? Because you can kill me? I can die any day, at any time. It doesn't make you special because you can take a life."
Eric looked shocked, but I saw respect in his eyes. Bill looked mortified and Pam had nothing to say her face was completely blank. Bill bowed then tried to pull me towards the exit. Quickly!
I stopped in the middle of the bar something had caught my attention. I raced back over to Eric. He looked alarmed but thankfully didn't try to kick me. I leaned into his ear and told him that there was about to be a raid. That was payment for him telling me the information I needed. Eric stood up so fast it made me dizzy. He bowed and thanked me and was soon out of sight.
I looked over at Longshadow at the bar, I pointed towards the door. He seemed to understand but looked confused until he saw Pam and Eric long gone.
Bill was confused too but he came over to me, we followed Eric and Pam out of the back. As soon as we were outside, we heard the cops burst in. They had this vampire-proof van with silver-coated bars. Eric stopped us both, we were almost free and clear. He grabbed me by my arm, I tried to fight against his grip but it was pointless.
" How did you know?" his whisper was deadly. It shot fear into my heart, but I defiantly gazed up into his eyes.
" I'm a telepath, there was an undercover cop in the middle of the room. I heard it by chance. " This was no time to lie or evade so I told the truth.
He looked intrigued by that answer, he had no choice but to let me go. The cops were beginning to search outside. Pam and he glided away. While Bill and I raced to the car and drove off.
Bill pulled over once we were at a safe distance, I could tell he was pissed but instead of yelling at me, I was pulled in for the most heated kiss yet.
We were lip-locking for a while till I bit down on in his lower lip. This issued him to growl at me and for once in my life, I knew what it felt like to be completely and utterly aroused by a man.
He pulled back to warn me he would have me right here if I kept on doing that. I took it as a dare! Just before I went in for the second nip, I saw blue and red lights in the mirror.
"Shit, Bill don't let them see your fangs." The officer was already walking up to the side of Bill's car. " let me do the talking " I warned before he rolled the window down.
" Can we help you, officer?"
" Ma'am, can I shine a light on your neck? We just raided a vampire bar not too far from here." I obliged and showed him both sides of my throat. Bill wasn't too happy about this, he turned to look at the cop
"Why don't you ask to show it between her thighs as well." The cop pulled out his gun and pointed it at Bill. Bill stared into his eyes, the cop dropped his gun from that position.
"Hand me the gun," Bill whispered in a grave tone. The cop just handed it over. Once Bill had his weapon he aimed it at the cop's head in retaliation I assume.
"You should be careful, next time you might not be so lucky. " The cop dumbly nodded his head in agreement." I'm not going to kill you, but I will keep your gun is that fair?"
" yes"
In a dazed voice, the cop responded. I had felt myself moisten and almost moaned. Bill drove off then, I held his hand and rubbed it with my thumb. He looked me over, arousal still clung to us both. We kept silent the rest of the way home.
Once at grans house, he got out first to open my door. Just as I was about to go he turned me around and pushed me up against the car. I felt his tongue lick the back of my neck as he held my stomach.
"You smell delicious," he whispered into my ear. "
you've mentioned it before," I said softly.
" That's not what I meant." I knew what he was talking about, I blushed but didn't say a word.
He walked me to my door, gave me a kiss goodnight, I about fell to the floor my knees were so weak. This time Gran had not stayed up. I took care of myself once more. I had to bite the pillow so I wouldn't scream out. Once I was done I took a much-needed shower and went to bed, still frustrated and rutting against my pillow while I dreamt of him.
