Shippou yawned, his nimble fingers finishing up the braid in Rin's hair.
Miroku was droning on about his latest plan to secure their lodgings in the next village, the constant sound causing Shippou's eyes to droop.
The tail of Rin's braid slipped through his fingers as she lay down next to him, her own eyes already closed. He smiled, then joined her, Kirara and Ah-Un walking over a few minutes later and curling their larger bodies around them protectively.
The sun peaked out from behind a cloud, the summer breeze whispered through the grass, and Shippou vaguely wondered what was keeping his mother.
