Preface:
I've been working to return all of the Original Quauthin Series back online here. That was my first experience with writing any sort of story, so please be patient with me as those are reuploaded. I had grand plans of redoing all of them, but decided I would rather write something else….….that story in a "Twisted up" way that would work with a character such as The Doctor.
Welcome to "Twisted Tales". I intend for it to be a series that will run parallel to the Quauhtin Series. You don't have to read the other one before this one. I'll catch you up here, but things will become clearer as you read this.
Three characters in that series have accidentally ended up going back in time, two weeks after Rose has seen the Doctor's message on the beach of Bad Wolf Bay. The Doctor Duplicate has not arrived.
These characters include:
Sammy – Rose and the Doctor's son.
Feeling that he will never measure up to his father's expectations, Sam has made some reckless decisions that have the very good possibility of blowing up in his face.
Lewis – Rose's bodyguard, alien from another world who belongs to an organization (Quauhtin) that believes peace can be reached with a common friendship. With a natural negotiating ability, Quauhtin, serve as mediators often during conflict. Some of them also have the ability to phase in and out of reality. The Doctor Duplicate and this man become close friends. This version of Lewis, being from the future, sees his protection orders of Rose to come from the Doctor himself.
Soli (short for Soler) - A creature of legend who can pull electricity into his body and redirect it at will. In the Quauthin series, Tony Stark adopts this character as a small child while traveling with the Doctor. Many years have passed and Soler, using plans of a Stark-made Vortex Manipular, has traveled back in time (with Sammy) to save Lewis from an attack. Soler was injured as they left and pushed them back to this point in time. The device was damaged, but all three men have decided to remain where they are. Meet back up with everyone, "the long way around."
Arla – Lewis's girlfriend
She was killed in a car accident in the Quauthin Series. Pregnant with twins at the time, only one of them survived. Arles is mentioned in this series.
I thought it would be a fun idea to explore the idea that Rose finds love who is not the Doctor. If you are gun-ho on her being with the Doctor, read the Quauhtin series. The little mix of Donna and the Doctor leads to problems… not to mention the Bad Wolf is slowly taking over Rose in both series.
I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful group of followers. With this new series, I'm also able to do something that is probably new to the Fan Fic world. Soon, I'll be publishing Danny's sketch books, and some other works through Amazon. If you are interested in that, message me for more information. Until then, thank you for the reviews and kind remarks. It truly keeps me writing not only this story, but some other stuff that I'm sure you will love.

Our story opens just two weeks after the Doctor has said goodbye to Rose on the beach in Norway.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
It had been a long day. Rose Tyler had been in New York only a few hours but was already thinking about her return trip to London.
She sighed the realization of the terrible idea that it would be to return there now. Rose and her Mum, Jackie, struggled to get along at the best of times. Jackie was now four months pregnant and, as she said, "getting as big as a horse!"
Rose admitted that she had been a tough person to be around since she had been left behind here. She was so sure that it was a temporary thing and the Doctor would be right back to get her. It had been only two weeks since they had returned from Norway. She had seen him on the beach. Well, the image of him. The ghost.
She had heard of break-ups before that left someone feeling devastated. She was certain her pain was worse than even that. After all, the Doctor had shown her a better life. A better way to live. When she thought back to her life before she had traveled with him, and couldn't believe she had been happy. How much of a "stupid child" she had seemed to him.
It was laughable when she thought back to her life before she met the Doctor. That girl wouldn't recognize the young woman she had become. She was the heir to a worldwide corporation with partnerships in everything from weapons to sodas. Rose Tyler's father, step-father, Pete, was an extremely successful businessman. But, as he had told Rose before she left, "He had not gotten there by making everyone around him miserable."
There was no way around it. Pete had asked her to leave. At least for a while to give him and Jackie time to get to know one another before the baby arrived.
She thought back to that night at the mansion in London. Pete had sat next to her, in front of the cozy fireplace, wearing his friendly father's face.
"It would give you time to adjust to your new life while coming to terms with what has happened. Rosie." Pete had said, "Rosie. He did tell you good-bye. That's the end of it. He's not returning."
She remembered the Doctor's words to her when she had finally told him how she felt.
"Quite right too."
"Just what the Hell was that answer?" Mickey had insisted when she told him. "How stuck on himself is this jackass, anyways?"
Mickey. Her oldest and dearest friend.
Thankfully, he had stayed behind the last time they had visited this world. By the time Rose had arrived, he had already been for three years and had made quite the life for himself working for Pete and Torchwood. Mickey had been happy to play, "Host to the New Arrival" when Rose quite literally fell into this life. He was due in New York in a few days and would be staying with her. She couldn't wait to see him. They had agreed to remain strictly friends for the time being. Mickey had been seeing a girl that he seemed interested in. Rose couldn't put her finger on why, but she didn't like her. Of course, she hadn't mentioned this to Mickey who would undoubtedly excuse it as, "You're jealous. Accept it."
Lewis stepped into the room. He was wearing his grey suit tonight.
"Want some water?" He asked.
She didn't open her eyes and shook her head.
She heard him walk to the kitchen.
Lewis was one of the bodyguards from Torchwood that worked directly under Mickey's direction. Rose hadn't been around him much but found him to be a very kind man. Lewis's close-cut hairstyle helped give him the appearance of an old soldier who never spoke of his time in the service. His mysterious tattoo began at the back of his right hand and ended as it climbed behind his left ear. She wanted to ask him about it but had decided to wait until she knew him a bit better.
She had been made his Primary charge only since they had returned from Bad Wolf Bay. Or as Mickey explained, "He's the bolt on the door. If I can't be there to stop some maniac, Lewis will be. That's how I sleep at night."
Sleep.
Sleep was something Rose had stopped doing lately. Almost completely, altogether.
"I'm working at Torchwood." She had lied to the Doctor when she had seen him on the beach.
Pete had told her that she had a job waiting for her whenever she wanted it. She couldn't stand to be there though. All of that just reminded her too much of traveling with the Doctor. All of the places she would never see. Adventures that she would never have.
The Torchwood doctors had given her drugs to sleep. What she needed were drugs to cope. Mickey, the self-proclaimed "Smoking Pipe", had promised to bring her something to help her sleep. She doubted that would even help.
She was crushed. Didn't she mean anything to the Doctor? They had both had some lovely flirts together. It was clear to her that she had read too much into it. It wasn't what she thought it had been. Tears welled up in her eyes at the thought of how unimportant she was to him. It only made the loneliness worse. This new life where she was away from everything and everyone she knew felt the equivalent of a personal Hell for her now.
She closed her eyes just as she remembered this terrible day. Never before would she had volunteered to make some appearance at a very public charity event. The very idea was laughable. She had been a nobody. Just a poor young lady from the other side of town.
Now, she sat in an expensive evening gown in the middle of a penthouse of New York City. The flat offered views of the city that were unparalleled. Pete had purchased it years ago because he had grown tired of always staying in a different hotel. He had wanted another home there which had proved very useful not only for business trips, but to also give Rose some necessary space. Space that the entire Tyler family needed right now.
She rubbed her face and thought again back to that day that the doorway to her dimension closed. The Doctor and her had hung on as long as they could, but in the end, she had slipped. Had he even tried to save her?
She stood up and sighed. "Stop thinking about this, Rose. It won't help anything."
She still wore her elegant evening gown but had slipped off her heels. She couldn't help but wonder how expensive it was as she ran the material through her fingertips.
Rose was still trying to get used to her new life as a celebrity in Pete's World. Her mother, Jackie Tyler, had continued the role where the other Jackie Tyler had left. Rose had not had any counterpart in this world, so her identity had been invented to help ease her entry into her new life. She wondered how anyone could believe she had been born and raised in secret. The story that Pete Tyler's publisher had invented had been something so outrageous that Rose couldn't believe that people had accepted it as true.
People there were still coming to terms with the Cyber Invasion's massacre and a three-year occupation of Earth. With the world in recovery, most weren't too interested in the story of Rose's origins. Pete insisted that was the reason the story had worked so well. One in every three people had been killed.
Mickey had added, "Plus, I've gotten really good at creating identities. I bet I could hide an alien so well, that you couldn't even spot it, Rose Tyler."
She had smiled at the thought. Her cell phone rang. She spoke aloud when she saw who was calling. "Still haven't seen one, Mickey."
She answered the phone. "Hey."
"Hey. Are you done?"
"Yeah. I just made an appearance."
"Well, that's all Pete really needed."
"Yeah. I just. Didn't think it would have been such a sad event."
"Sad? Really?"
"Yeah, it was like a funeral." She said.
"Well, that does make sense."
"Mickey, it was terrible."
Lewis walked into the room and handed her a glass of water.
"I didn't ask for this?"
He smiled at her, "Drink it anyway. Water is good for you. How many glasses are you supposed to drink a day?"
She smiled back at him. "I'm just talking to your boss."
"Hey, Mickey!" Lewis said.
"Give me to him." Mickey insisted.
Rose handed the phone to Lewis. "Thank you, Lewis."
He took the phone and winked at her. "No trouble at all."
Then he spoke to Mickey. "Hey. How is it there?"
Rose turned to look out of the windows at the city. She saw several Zeppelins in the night sky. The largest headed away from the city. No doubt full of other celebrities ducking out of the fundraiser she had attended that evening. The party had full of people who had been directly affected by the massacre.
Rose was grateful that Lewis had been there with her. He spoke when the words failed her and seemed to always say just what she needed to.
Lewis walked over to the windows to enjoy the view. He sipped his water as he continued his conversation with Mickey.
"Yeah, I've told you for months that I am the best looking one out of my brothers. And tell Lartius that he owes me some money."
She giggled and quietly teased him, "Someone is always owning you some money. I worry about you, Lewis."
He glanced over to her. "I'm the last person you need to worry about. I didn't get this old being stupid. Oh, hang on."
Lewis held up his finger and listened to the phone.
"Oh. Alright."
"What?" she asked.
"Mickey wants to know if you saw any aliens tonight?"
She groaned. "Why is he on about this?"
"I have no idea." He chuckled. "Have you?"
"No! Tell him….nevermind, I'll tell him myself later." She sat down her empty glass and turned to Lewis, "Could you please unzip me?"
He was listening on the phone again as he carefully undid the dress.
Lewis said, "Nah, she's not alright."
"I am." She insisted.
"She needs to sleep. That would help more than anything."
Mickey's muffled voice said something that made Lewis shake his head. "No. I don't think Pete was thinking. This entire thing has been traumatic for everyone."
Rose, holding her dress around herself, turned around. "No. I needed to be here."
"Clothes." Lewis pointed and continued with the conversation. "Yeah."
She sighed and walked out of the room, pulling the dress around her.
Rose's bedroom in New York was small, but that was the price of New York for you. With two walls with full floor-to-ceiling windows, Rose stopped every time she came into the bedroom with a gasp.
"Gosh, this is beautiful." She whispered. Even if it briefly made her think that she was about to walk off the edge of the building.
The night sky reflected the idea that New York was the city that never slept.
She carefully stepped out of the evening gown she wore and lay it across the chair. She stepped into the bathroom.
Looking into the mirror at her professionally made-up face, she decided not to take a shower. Instead, she stepped into her closet and slipped into a pair of jeans and a hoodie. Nothing unlike she would have worn back in her "previous" life.
Checking her make-up once more as she walked through the bathroom, she switched off the light and went back to the sitting room. She overheard Lewis as she stepped into the room. He was still on the phone with Mickey. "Nah, you can trust Sammy. If he's not worried, I'm not."
Lewis looked up and saw Rose standing there. "Planning on sleeping in your clothes, then?"
"Mum. It's too early to go to bed. Give me the phone."
He smiled, "Right. Rose is back and wants to speak to you, Mickey."
He handed the phone back to her and walked out of the room. Rose wandered back to her bedroom with the phone. She lay on the bed and looked at the city while she spoke to Mickey.
"Rose, go ahead and turn in a bit early tonight. Tomorrow is another day."
"Another miserable day."
"Ah." He insisted. "Rose, it's normal to feel this way."
"Says you-"
"I think I know a bit about what I'm talking about."
She sighed. "Damn it. That's true."
"What do you have planned tomorrow then?"
She rolled over on her back and covered her face. "I don't know. Something."
Mickey's voice was becoming more distant.
"Rose. Go on to sleep. I'll see you in a few days."
She hummed to him as she fell into a deep sleep.
Lewis walked down the hallway and knocked on her bedroom door. "Rose?"
He stepped in and saw her sleeping form on the bed. He smiled. The drug he had put into her water had worked much quicker than the doctor at Torchwood had said it would.
He took her cell phone and sat it on the bedside table. Looking around the room, he found a small blanket. He walked over and spread it over her. He gently closed the door as he walked out of the room.
