(Jacob POV)
Jacob absently observed as an exhausted Bella emerged from her room to duck into the bathroom. She returned with all her makeup washed away, yawning as she stumbled to the living room and plopped down on the couch between him and Paul.
"Guys," she said quietly. "I think I will just hole myself up in the bedroom and work tomorrow. I need to get caught up. Have some alone time." She shrugged and shook her head.
That she was overwhelmed was obvious. Her emotions were so raw that Jacob felt nauseous. He intended to put an arm around her to comfort her and smirked as Paul beat him to it.
Paul said, "Hey, it's okay to need some alone time, Bella."
"I know that," she snipped and rubbed her temples in aggravation. Jacob gave Paul a wary glance, silently warning him to be careful with what he said. When anxious, Bella was easily triggered and quick to anger. Her anger would disappear just as quickly as it came, however, leaving her feeling guilty. Then she would go silent as she spiraled. Jacob knew the pattern well. He just didn't know how to help her outside of picking his battles carefully. She often said that she hated Jacob babying her. Jacob knew that Bella could not explain that she hated needing him to do so. Luckily for her, because of the imprint, he could feel it.
It hurt him, the way she loathed herself at times. She was his favorite person on the planet, but he could not make her love herself regardless of how hard he tried. That was something she had to do on her own.
Jacob couldn't blame Paul for hovering, either. Bella had a way about her that made wanting to take care of her feel like second nature. Jacob had watched people around Bella seem entranced with her and was left in awe every time. Paul was no exception. He was, in fact, the most surprising of them all. With the new knowledge of his extra ability, Jacob wondered how Bella would react when Paul revealed his secret. She was usually good with weird but hated having things hidden from her.
She's sure to find out, eventually. Jacob was almost grateful for the alpha order Sam put into place. Jacob could have never left her in the dark otherwise.
Paul was uncharacteristically patient as he said, "I know you know that. I'm not trying to patronize. I'm just trying to say that you don't have to explain or apologize for needing time to yourself. If you want me out of your hair, just tell me to fuck off, okay? I know you are stressed, and as long as we are okay, I won't be offended."
She seemed to soften toward him as Paul lifted her hand to kiss her knuckles. He sighed and stood up, leaving Bella confused as he prepared to leave. Suddenly sounding very nervous, she asked, "You're going?" She stood and followed him to the door, barely a step behind him along the way. Jacob looked away from them as Paul placed soft, lingering kisses on her lips and forehead.
Paul said, "You need to eat and get some sleep, Sweet Cheeks. I'm going to do the same, okay? I'll be less than ten minutes away if you need anything. I can see you practically pleading for time to yourself, so I won't hover."
Bella sighed as she pressed her face against his chest and hugged Paul tight. "Thank you," she said. "For everything you did to keep me safe today. Whatever that was."
"Bella," Paul began, but she interrupted him by standing on her toes to kiss him.
"We can talk about whatever happened today later," Bella said. "When we are both not so tired."
Jacob glanced toward them then, catching the affectionate, intimate smile they shared. While Jacob was busy brushing off his surprise at her dismissal (she could be very demanding when wanting answers), Wolf was seething with jealousy. Jacob got up and walked to his bedroom, politely telling Paul goodnight along the way. He lay down on his bed and tried to clear his mind to calm the wolf. It didn't take long for his thoughts to stray to Reagan, and his spiritual counterpart huffed in aggravation. While they cared about Reagan more than ever, they both needed Bella. Each just needed her for very different reasons. Rae was no substitute, and the wolf hated the new boundaries Bella and Jacob had created. Jacob, however, couldn't wait to see Reagan again since their time together that night had been cut short.
Jacob sighed with relief as the front door shut, indicating Paul's departure. A few minutes later, Bella was leaning in his doorway wearing her favorite threadbare pajamas with her hair piled high on her head.
She asked, "Are you okay?"
Jacob sat up on his bed and said, "Yeah. Are you?"
"I think so," Bella said, frowning as she stared down at her painted toenails. "Better than I thought I would be, anyway. Maybe I'm still in shock or something."
Jacob asked, "Did you ever eat?"
"No," she mumbled. "I'm not hungry anymore. Not so overwhelmed, either. I think taking tomorrow to myself will help while I wrap my mind around everything. I think I was in denial a little bit, you know? I hoped my luck wasn't so shitty that Edward would look for me one day. He promised he never would, Jake. I don't want him here."
Jacob said, "I think I always expected him to look you up one day. I'm more concerned about the why and what his intentions are. I think we both know his word is shit, Bells. If he intended to kill Riley, there has to be a reason for it."
Jacob didn't want to add that if something happened to her, it would surely destroy him. Even if he did not want a relationship with her, Jacob could not live in a world where his Bells didn't exist. The mere thought was almost crippling.
She slumped against the door frame defeatedly and yawned. Jacob said, "You have not had a minute alone in like two weeks, Bells. I'm sure a day to yourself probably will help. Maybe you will get some sleep, hmm?"
Bella scoffed. "Yeah, right. I can't sleep for shit anymore unless I am next to you or Paul. Paul and I didn't get much sleep this weekend, either."
Jacob snickered knowingly and said, "Well, you never did like to sleep alone, Bella." He looked over her slender frame and frowned with worry. She seemed thinner, the circles under her eyes becoming more purple by the hour. He held his arm up for her to join him and said, "Come here."
She looked over at him and scoffed again. "Nope. It makes shit too difficult."
Jacob said, "You smell too much like Paul right now, so I doubt Wolf would try anything. Besides, the imprint effect will help us both sleep. You might as well just stay in here tonight."
Bella hesitated as she glanced down the hallway toward her room. "Hmmm," she said, "I don't think so. I'm going to try and tough it out."
Jacob sighed, attempting to hide his dissatisfaction. He missed spending time with her. "Suit yourself," he said. "Holler if you need me."
"You know I will," Bella said as she turned to leave the room. "Love you, Jake."
"Love you, too, Bells."
Hours later, Jacob tossed in his bed, badgered by the sounds of her restlessness. Wolf nagged at him to go to her, comfort her. Phase and lay by her as the wolf if necessary, but get her to rest somehow. He finally became too frustrated to avoid it and stomped toward her room.
Bella sat upright, startled as he entered the small space. She didn't argue against his company, silently scooting to make space for him. Jacob crawled into the bed next to her and pulled her snugly against his chest. Her leg slid between his knees as he buried his face into her hair. Within minutes, they were deeply asleep, with neither waking again until late morning.
(Bella POV)
Bella woke enveloped in long, muscular arms, feeling warm and hazy. She smiled over the familiar, large, hot hand securely cupping her left breast. Bella moaned in contentment and stretched. Her eyes remained closed as she instinctively pressed her backside against the hulky male behind her, seeking his heat.
The arms around her held tighter as he ground his erection against her ass. Desire washed over her, flushing her skin as it thrummed through her limbs. The large left hand on her breast strayed downward across her abdomen and slid into her shorts. Bella whimpered as she tilted her hips and reached to guide his hand lower. He cupped her sex and pressed his long fingers inward, sweeping her entrance and across the bundle of nerves above it. His chin stubble scraped her skin when he gently nipped the back of her neck and growled.
Bella gasped in alarm. She knew that sound better than her own voice. Her eyes flew open as Bella pushed his hand away from her sex. Slowly, she twisted in his arms to face him. Jacob stared at her from under half-closed lids, his irises a blazing gold in the morning light.
Tentatively she said, "Let me up, Honey." A deeper growl rumbled from his chest as he glared. Attempting to calm the wolf while fighting back her slowly receding lust, Bella ran her hands through his hair and gently kissed the side of his chin.
Softening her tone, she begged, "Let me up. Please?" When he refused to loosen his grip, she grinned and threatened, "You don't want to be pissed on, do you? I will trick you into another cold shower, Jacob Ephriam." She grinned as he scowled at her, trusting her word. Bella had retaliated against the wolf that way once before, instantly sobering Jacob and leaving Wolf sore with her for a week.
Jacob closed his eyes and let go of her as he laid his head back down and huffed. Bella took the opportunity to slide away and darted to the bathroom. After what had happened the day before, she had expected the clinginess from Wolf. Bella had underestimated his ability to take advantage of Jacob's exhausted state when allowing them into her bed the night before. She did not want to contemplate how close she had come to giving into the imprint pull while half asleep.
It was not the first time the wolf had wanted his mate while Jacob slept, and she doubted it would be the last.
God, Bella, wake his ass up so he can cage the beast. She would get no work done as long as he slept in her bed, semi-awake because of Wolf and feeling possessive. Bella washed her hands and shuffled to the kitchen to make them some breakfast.
As anticipated, a hungry Jacob roused from his semi-slumber and joined her in the kitchen. He was shockingly well-behaved while she cooked and patiently waited for her to finish.
Jacob was lost in thought as she set his plate on the table with a cup of coffee. Bella asked, "A penny for your thoughts, big guy?"
He frowned down at his plate and said, "I was somewhat awake earlier. I was too damn tired to do anything but feel, and I'm sorry Bells. I feel terrible."
Bella sighed as she sat down with her breakfast and poured some creamer into her coffee. She said, "Takes two to tango, buddy. I woke up groping at you, too. We have to be more careful." She grinned across the table at him and added, "I think we are doing pretty damn well, all things considered."
Jacob nodded, and a hint of a smile crossed his handsome face. Bella grinned at him affectionately. She truly loved her best friend, probably more than any friend should. If only it had been enough for either of them. Paul, on the other hand.
Her smile grew at the thought of his rakish grin and gentle touch - quite the contrast to his somewhat ominous appearance and abrasive attitude toward everyone but Bella. She missed him already. It had only been a few hours. How the hell am I going to get any work done today? Bella sighed defeatedly and picked up her coffee.
Before taking a large bite, Jacob asked, "So, are you down for a little bike rebuild party on Friday night?"
Bella beamed at him. "Yes. Who is coming? Also, when do we go get the parts?"
Jacob laughed and said, "It just so happens that Quil, Embry, and I are all off work and patrol that night. Leah is, too, but she has had her head up Dean's ass since they met." He cleared his throat and said, "Annnd, I hope you aren't too disappointed, but I ordered the parts. I got a discount through work, and they are already in the trunk of my car. Your birthday isn't until September, but it seemed like a good early present."
Through her wide, excited smile, Bella asked, "So I don't have to trip around the junkyard and endanger my life just to restore my baby?"
Jacob cackled and said, "No, Honey. No dancing precariously through dismantled cars and motorcycles for you."
"You're the fucking best!" Bella hopped up to lean over and kiss his cheek. Jacob turned his face toward her so that her lips met with his lips instead. He cackled again, his eyes shining with mischief as they flashed with gold.
"You are an evil little wolf," Bella teased as she sat down.
"You love us anyway," Jacob said.
"I really do," Bella said. "I meant to ask, what happened with Reagan last night? She wasn't here when I got back."
"Uh, she went home early," Jacob said. "She had to work this morning. Convenient timing, too, since you messaged about Cullen right as she was leaving."
"Wow," Bella said after a sip of her coffee. "I'm sorry you didn't get more time with her. I'm sorry about yesterday. I guess I should have listened to you, huh?"
Jacob chuckled softly, remaining silent. He wasn't the type to say 'I told you so,' and she was grateful for it.
"The truck did great, though," she said. Bella dug into her breakfast as he shook his head. Jacob was done eating long before Bella but was more than happy to finish off what she could not. It reminded her that she needed to set up grocery delivery. It was her first task after breakfast. Jacob took over the cleanup for a change, and Bella shut herself in her bedroom with her laptop to work.
A message from Paul by late afternoon distracted her entirely with thoughts of them wrapped around one another in his bed. Thursday couldn't come fast enough.
Late Wednesday afternoon, Bella nervously checked herself over. She had left her natural curls hanging down her back. A plain black crop top, tight jeans, and ballet flats were the best anyone would get from Bella Swan tonight. She gasped and quickly shrugged into her shirt as Leah threw open her bedroom door, hoping like Hell that Nick and Dean hadn't seen her tits in the process. Leah tried not to laugh as she shut the door and apologized.
"You gotta get that lock, Bells," she said.
Bella huffed and said, "Or, you could knock, you know?" She turned to look at Leah and laughed. "I see you found my shirt."
Leah was wearing the altered shirt Bella had lost at Mike's house, bravely forgoing anything but a black bra and shin-length leggings underneath.
Bella asked, "Where, pray, tell, are we going?"
Leah snatched Bella's lip gloss as she said, "Bar hopping."
Bella asked, "Will there be food involved in this bar hopping?"
Sliding lip gloss onto her bottom lip, Leah scoffed at her step-sister. She rubbed her lips together and said, "Hello, sis? Wolf, here. Food is a given."
Bella laughed as she snatched her lip gloss back. "I'm so sorry," she said sarcastically. "How could I have ever thought otherwise?"
Leah said, "I'm glad you didn't wear a dress."
"Why?"
"You'll see," Leah answered and wagged her eyebrows at Bella suggestively.
"Hey, Lee? You think you and Dean might want to swing by a little bike building party on Friday night?"
Leah laughed and said, "Yes, I fucking would. Dean made plans with his family that night, and I wondered what the fuck I was going to do. I guess there will be plenty of beer. Is it just the usual crew?"
"Yeah." The word came out like a sigh as Bella wondered what Paul would think of their drunken garage party.
"How is Paul?"
Bella's cheeks turned pink as she grinned again. "Good, I think."
Leah whispered, "How was the sex?" Bella looked up at Leah in surprise, and Leah said, "I can still smell him, like… in your pores, Bells. Jesus, how many times did you two bump uglies this weekend?"
Bella cackled and shook her head. "Uh, a lot. And it was amazing, okay? Happy now?"
Leah pulled Bella to her and hugged her. She said, "I'm happy for you if you're happy." She gestured toward the door and whispered, "Look, I know you aren't thrilled about being on a date with Nick, but I appreciate this."
"I know you do," Bella said, nodding.
"Nick is a sweet guy. He's just a little socially awkward and different. He's really into paranormal stuff, history, horror movies, and shit. You guys have a lot in common, and I think you could be friends once he gets past this initial attraction part of things."
Bella asked, "Is this your way of asking me to be nice to him?"
Leah said, "Actually … I know this goes against our current goals, but -"
"What goals?" Bella laughed.
"Getting you and Paul together," Leah teased, nudging her with her elbow.
"Oh," Bella said, rolling her eyes. "So that's our goal now?"
"Yes, bitch. Shut up and listen," Leah whisper-yelled and laughed. She continued, "Could you please, just this one night, treat this like an actual date?"
Bella scowled at her sister suspiciously. "What are you doing, Leelee?"
"Nothing," she said defensively. "I just feel sorry for Nick. He's been single for like two years, and Dean says he won't shut up about you. He'll only be in town for two or three more weeks anyway. I think it would be nice to do him a solid, let him have a real date, and then maybe he'll get the confidence to meet more people when he gets home."
Bella stepped back in surprise. She asked, "You care about this Nick guy too, huh?"
Leah said, "He has been Dean's best friend for like six years. He is important to Dean, and Dean is important to me. There is no way Dean would ever agree to move back to Washington if he thinks he is abandoning Nick."
Incredulously, Bella asked, "Move back? Are you guys already talking about that?"
Leah nodded as she looked away guiltily. She blinked back tears and barked out a laugh.
Feeling the anxiety rolling from her sister in waves, Bella whispered, "What are you hiding, Lee?"
Leah scoffed and moved to sit on the bed. She looked up at Bella sheepishly and whispered, "I got my goddamn period this morning." Bella sat next to her, unsure of what to say. Leah hadn't had a period since she first phased.
Bella asked, "What does that mean for you?"
Leah whispered, "You have to keep this a secret, for now, Bells." Bella nodded, and Leah admitted, "Dean is my imprint." The revelation seemed to lift a heavy weight from Leah's shoulders, dramatically lightening her mood.
"Oh my God." Bella gaped in shock as she pondered what this meant for her sister.
Leah's reaction when she saw Dean for the first time suddenly made sense. Bella had never seen her so flustered or immediately infatuated with a stranger. Leah, who hated imprinting and the pain it caused her, was now embracing her imprint wholeheartedly.
"My body is responding to it, Bella. He is my future. I can't let him slip away." Leah shook her head sadly and flicked tears from her long lashes before they could glide down her face. Understanding how confused she must feel, Bella threw her arms around Leah and hugged her tight. Leah slowly embraced her back, resting her chin on Bella's shoulder as she sighed.
Bella said, "We will do whatever we have to to make sure that doesn't happen, okay?"
Leah's chin dug into Bella's flesh as she nodded. Bella was flooded with guilt by the admission, wondering if she and Jacob had done the right thing by hiding and fighting the imprint. They seemed to be an anomaly, the only pair that did not want to be together.
The women pulled apart as the bedroom door swung open, revealing an amused Jacob and Dean.
"Are we interrupting something?" Jacob winked at Bella suggestively. She grabbed her pillow and threw it at him.
Leah grumbled, "Can a woman not hug another woman without you going straight to the gutter?"
Dean leaned toward Jacob and muttered, "My chick can do whatever she wants. I just wanna watch it."
Jacob cackled, waving his arms as he shook his head no. "That is my cousin, Dude, but more power to you, I guess."
Bella rolled her eyes at Leah and asked them, "Did you guys need something?"
"Just wondering if you were ready," Dean said, smirking. "Didn't expect things to be all lovey-dovey in here."
"Oh, get out," Leah growled at them. Dean and Jacob looked at each other and laughed before turning away and pulling the door shut behind them.
"He fits in already," Bella grumbled.
"Yeah, I fucking know," Leah growled back. Each took in the scowls the other wore and laughed.
Bella sighed, absently straightening her bracelets. "Guess we should get going and see what this crazy night will bring."
Leah stood and adjusted her leggings before gesturing toward the door and saying, "Lead the way."
Bella understood why Jacob had been grinning and what Leah had meant about the dress as she stepped outside. Nick and Dean were both waiting on their motorcycles, looking as if they had just crawled out of an episode of SOA minus the patches. Leah swung her long, jean-clad leg over the back of Dean's sleek black Harley.
"Holy shit," Bella said. Leah looked incredible behind Dean, with her arms casually draped around his tight, white t-shirt. He leaned back against Leah, whispering as he stared at her face over his shoulder. She raised an eyebrow, smirked at something said, and shook her head as Dean roared with laughter. He went silent as she kissed him, turning further in his seat to cup her face with his hands.
Bella looked over at Nick. He stared at the couple wistfully as he leaned on his metallic, deep purple chopper. A smile spread across his face as he realized Bella was watching him, and he stood to greet her.
"Great bike," Bella said, walking closer. She grinned as she took in the coffin-shaped gas tank before looking over the rest of his bike. "Sissy bar?"
Nick glanced at the likewise coffin-shaped backrest and grinned. "Safety first," he said and shrugged.
"And not a helmet in sight," Bella teased as she pushed through her anxiety. She was becoming more nervous by the second. "I'll be right back." As she walked toward the garage, she asked Jacob, "Did you show them your Harley?"
"No," Dean and Nick both shouted. Bella took a long pull from her vape as she hurried along with the three men following to the garage. Bella took her helmet from her saddle bag and bent over to gather her hair. She expertly tucked her curls into the helmet and grinned at Nick while adjusting her chin strap.
Interrupting their discussion about the Harley, Dean teased, "You were serious about the helmet?"
Bella laughed and said, "My dad is a cop, guys. Yes, I'm serious. Charlie has cleaned up too many bodies. If he caught me without this helmet, he would hand me his gun and tell me to just fucking shoot myself because it would be less painful."
"It's true," Jacob said, laughing. "Besides, the first time she rode her motorcycle herself, she did crash it. It didn't take her two minutes, guys. She rolled off and hit her fucking head on a boulder, first thing. We got her a helmet immediately."
Bella was grateful the helmet somewhat hid her blushing as she said, "That definitely happened. I'm clumsy enough all by myself. I don't need any more concussions."
"Amen," Jacob teased as he pulled her leather jacket out of the opposite saddle bag. "She is a great rider now, though."
"Thank you," Bella said as he handed it to her, and she shrugged into it. "When it's fixed, I might ride back to Florida and see my mom for a week or two. I've neglected her since I moved back here."
"I'm sure she would love that, Bells," Jacob said. "Could always take one of the boys with you. They could take my bike."
Bella gaped at Jacob in surprise, assuming he meant Paul. Jacob loved his motorcycle like it was his firstborn child. Bella knew he would not make that offer for just anyone. So far, the only person who had borrowed it had been Embry.
Meanwhile, until they knew what the Hell Edward wanted, Bella wasn't safe alone. There was no way Sam would spare Jacob for a week or more, and the imprint pull would only get them into trouble. Paul, on the other hand.
Bella said, "That would be awesome, Jake. Thank you."
"Come here," he said, pulling her in for a hug. He leaned in to kiss her on the nose through her helmet and laughed. "Be safe. Call if you need anything. You have your phone?"
Bella pulled her cell phone from her back pocket and moved it to the inside pocket of her jacket before zipping it shut. "Come on, guys," she said. "Love you, Jake."
"Love you too," he said as he slid the garage door shut behind them. Bella carefully climbed behind Nick and loosely wrapped her arms around his waist. His bike roared to life as he grinned over his shoulder at her.
Bella asked, "Did you guys ride here from Nevada?"
Nick nodded as they pulled out behind Dean and Leah, turning towards Forks.
Both bikes were much louder than hers, and the vibration soon relaxed her enough to enjoy the ride.
The evening began with an embarrassing bang as Charlie spotted them heading through town. Bella groaned as his lights flipped on, and Leah turned around to see who it was. She cackled and whispered something into Dean's ear as he and Nick pulled over.
Charlie approached them sternly and asked, "Where the hell are your helmets, guys?"
Bella teased, "Is that your only reason for pulling us over? Are you abusing your authority, father?"
Charlie grinned at her affectionately. The cold tone of his voice was a stark contrast to his grin as he threatened, "If I have to clean either of my girls off the blacktop, I will personally hold you boys responsible. I will bury you in the woods behind my house. Got it?"
"Yes, sir," Dean said as he saluted Charlie.
Charlie laughed and walked back to his car. "Stay here," he yelled and popped the trunk of his squad car open. Bella cackled as her father strode back to them with a shiny new black helmet.
As he handed it to Leah, he grumbled, "That was part of your birthday gift, Bells. Yours is getting pretty old. I'm sure you don't mind Leah wearing it today, right?"
Leah rolled her eyes as she put it on instead of arguing with him. Dean helped her adjust it as Charlie said, "Washington does have helmet laws, kids. Seriously, those sunglasses won't protect anything at seventy miles an hour. I don't know how you made it across the state without being ticketed, but you need to get them. Watch out for deer tonight, okay? It's a full moon. They will be everywhere." He surprised them all as he pulled out his wallet and handed Bella a hundred-dollar bill. Sternly Charlie warned, "No riding drunk. Call a fucking cab or something. No excuses. Got it?"
Leah snickered as Nick and Dean nodded, thoroughly chastised. Dean reached out to shake hands with Charlie and said, "We will be careful, Sir. I promise."
Charlie playfully patted the top of Leah's helmet. She jumped as the visor dropped shut, making Charlie laugh as he walked away. "Have a good night, kids," he called back to them.
An embarrassed Leah turned to Bella and asked, "This is why you lived with your mom, isn't it?" Bella cackled as the bikes roared to life, and Charlie drove off.
"Payback is a bitch, Evil Step-father," Leah shouted after him. She raised the visor and beamed at Bella wickedly. "Just wait."
Bella rolled her eyes, recalling many pranks and teasing between Charlie and Harry. Their similarly wild sense of humor was the foundation of their friendship. It seemed the apples didn't fall too far from the trees.
Deciding it was best to please Charlie and avoid any possible tickets, the group made a short detour. It wasn't difficult for Dean to acquire helmets for himself and Nick in record time. His parents did own the local sporting goods store, after all.
Bella felt oddly calm as they rode toward Port Angeles. Nick drove in silence, relaxed as he lay his left arm over hers around his waist. She was surprised to find it did not bother her. For the moment, her uneasiness with Nick had vanished.
I was just fine with him at Charlie's house, too. Bella tried to recall why she had been so uneasy with Nick outside of his blatant staring. The only common factor had been Jacob's proximity.
Son of a bitch, she hissed and wondered how she had not seen it before. I was only uneasy with Alex and Paul when Jacob was around, too. The imprint has to be at play, somehow.
Making a mental note to discuss it with Jacob and Paul, Bella closed her eyes and tried to clear her mind. Instead, she found herself wondering if Edward would make another appearance.
Filled with sudden, bitter determination, Bella had finally made up her mind. She knew with certainty that Leah would keep her safe, either way. Edward Cullen better stay out of their sight if he didn't desire a very public scene. Bella was sick of her troubles interfering with so many lives. She was frustrated with the endless anxiety and tired of dwelling on the trauma he had caused them all. Five years of hoping she would never see him again were enough. Bella and Edward both needed to move on for good.
Bella could see the corner of his mouth lift into a smile as Nick sped up, and she instinctively tightened her grip on him. She released a deep sigh, wishing like Hell that Nick was Paul and grateful that it was almost Thursday.
