"Where are we going and why are people after me?" Rachel asks Dick, sitting in the back of the car this time with Tai sitting in the passenger seat.

"We'll go to some friends of mine. You'll be safe there while we figure this out." Dick says.

"Aren't you a cop? Shouldn't you put her in some protection program?" Tai asks the detective suspicious of him.

"I know some friends who are better equipped to keep her safe." Dick replies.

"I could keep her safe." Tai says confidently.

"Hey, I'm right here." Rachel says pissed at the two men having some struggle for dominance over her.

"Why are you here anyways Tai?" Rachel asks.

"I thought you were upset about the other day and found your mother and then I just tried to find and protect you." He tells her.

"Thanks I guess. I'm still confused but I'm glad you're here even though we don't really know each other." Rachel says.

"Anyways it's late we should rest at the next motel before continuing on tomorrow." Dick says, pointing to the motel seeable in the distance.

"Fine with me, Rachel?" Tai agrees, turning to the girl.

"Yeah sure." She sighs, shrugging her shoulders.

"Alright, wait in the car while I get us a room." Dick says and rents a room from the clerk at the desk.

"Are you sure we can trust him?" Tai asks, watching Dick head into the reception.

"We? I'm not sure I can trust you after what happened." Rachel replies.

"I... I see." He says disappointed, making her feel a bit guilty.

"Let's go." Dick tells them, peering into the car before leading them to the room he rented.

"OK you two try to relax I'll be back soon. I need to take care of something." Dick says, seconds after entering and putting down a suitcase.

"OK." Rachel replies, sitting down on the bed in the room and turns on the TV.

"Game of Thrones? Aren't you a bit young for that?" Dick asks her, only receiving a stare of disbelieve while he leaves.

"Its only us now. So what happened to you in that room? There was some kind of spirit that looked like you." Tai asks her, sitting down at the edge of the bed, his back facing her.

"I don't know. There is something bad inside me." She answers.

"That can't be true, you're kind." Tai tells her in disbelieve.

"What makes you think that?" She asks thinking he's messing with her.

"It probably didn't mean anything to you, but after my grandfather died, you were the one person to actually make me feel accepted." He says.

"But I didn't. I just ignored you and almost everyone." Rachel says.

"But you were the priestess at the halloween party right? You really got me out of a dark mindset." He asks perplexed.

"Yes, but there were 6 others with the same costume and I don't remember talking to you." She says.

"You didn't? So my attraction to you is based on a misunderstanding?" He asks disappointed.

"Yeah I think so, sorry." She tells him, before focusing on the TV.

"I see." He sighs, standing up and goes to the small entry area separated from the sleeping area by a wall.

After 5 minutes of silence Rachel checks on Tai who is meditating on the floor.

"Are you OK?" She asks him.

"Yeah." He replies quietly, Rachel shrugging her shoulders and is about to go back to watching TV before she sees her evil reflection in a mirror and rushes to the bathroom while taking a pencil and papers with her.

"Rachel?" Tai asks, standing up and going after her.

"Are you OK?" He asks knocking on the bathroom door and hears her mumbling to herself as if in a trance.

"I'm coming in." He says concerned, peering into the bathroom through a cracked open door.

"Get away. I don't want to hurt anybody." Rachel shouts, freaking out, trying to push the door closed from her seat on the tiled floor, onto for him to push the door open with ease, causing her to slide backwards further into the bathroom.

"I said get out!" She screams, a dark spirit coming out of her body and pushing him backwards, into a mirror, shattering it while knocking the wind out of him and cutting him on his back.

"I... I didn't mean to." She cries scared, cowering against the bathtub while placing drawings of crosses all around herself.

"Hey. Look at me." Tai says after coughing a bit, kneeling down in front of her, blood dripping onto the floor behind him drop by drop.

"No. I don't want to hurt you." She says panicked, scribbling cross after cross onto the notepad until Tai gently takes it and the pencil away from her, setting it down on the side. Afterwards he pulls her into a hug with her crying into the crook of his neck, while clinging onto him for a good while.

"It'll be fine. Just relax." He tells her soothingly and she calms down over time until she finally is back to her senses and realizes that he's bleeding from his back.

"You, you're bleeding. Why didn't you say anything?" She says worried, sniffling a bit.

"I'm back, where are you two?" Dick then announces his presence in the main room and Rachel jumps out of the hug, dashing into the room, making the man look at her worried, with her sniffling still.

"Tai's bleeding, can you help him." She asks with a shaky voice, pointing to the bathroom in which door Tai is standing.

"Sure, what happened?" Dick asks, going over to the other teen, putting down the pizza he got on the bed.

"I got spooked and fell into the mirror." Tai lies.

"No. I did it, the thing inside me did at least." Rachel confesses guiltily.

"Alright, show me." Dick says and Tai turns around, revealing his blood-stained shirt and takes it off, showing the two his strong back with two large scars on his left shoulder and neck and the fresh wound on his other shoulder, with a piece of glass still stuck inside.

"Rachel can you bring me my jacket?" Dick asks and she brings him over his jacket, where he gets a needle and string in a case out of a pocket.

"This will hurt." He tells the surprisingly calm teen while taking some disinfectant from a cabinet in the bathroom.

"Go ahead." He replies and Dick pulls out the glass piece quickly, dumping some of the disinfectant on the wound and covers the needle in it as well.

"Try to remain still." Dick says, starting to sow the wound shut with skilled movements while Tai doesn't react much other than breathing a bit shaky.

"All done. You should be fine but we maybe should see a doctor once we know that Rachel is safe." Dick says.

"Thanks." Tai says, taking his short and cleans it a bit in the sink of the bathroom after tossing the glass shards into the trash.

"He'll be just fine. But what did you mean you did it? Does it have to do with those crosses?" Dick asks Rachel, going over to the frightened girl sitting on the bed hugging her knees to her chest.

"My mom said the lord would keep the evil inside me away. But it's not working." Rachel says tiredly.

"What is the evil you're talking about?" Dick asks and she looks up, seeing her ash grey reflection in the mirror across from her waving tauntingly.

"Do you see it in the mirror? Is that why you pushed Tai into it?" Dick asks, going to the mirror and turns it around, getting her to relax.

"Rachel has some kind of power. It looks like a shadow version of her coming out of her body." Tai says, rejoining them, his shirt left in the bathroom to dry and she looks at him shocked, seeing multiple scars, mostly on his arms and some on his abdomen, Dick being OK with the sight due to his past as a vigilante.

"Did you hurt Tai on purpose?" Dick asks Rachel.

"No, she warned me to go away." Tai informs him, pulling the detective away from Rachel a bit, motioning for him to slow down while taking a piece of pizza and offers one to Rachel and Dick afterwards.

"So who are these friends we're going to exactly?" Tai asks Dick, sitting down on the bed against the headboard, Rachel stiffening up when his weight joins the bed right next to her, scared she might hurt him again.

"They are unique but the will help us I'm sure. Even though we didn't part on good terms." Dick says and Rachel gets hit by a vision of Dick and a platinum blonde sleeping together.

"When do we go there?" Rachel asks nervously.

"Tomorrow morning we'll hit the road it shouldn't be more than two more hours away." Dick says, taking another slice of pizza and lies down in the large, convertible chair in the room.

"I can sleep on the floor." Tai says, slowly getting off the bed, but Rachel stops him, shaking her head while putting away the pizza box and lies down facing away from her peering back at him.

Tai looks at her back for a bit before lying down on the bed himself, lying on the very opposite edge of the bed from her and the three soon after drifting off to sleep.
