The river seemed to gasp, its laughter dissipating as golden eyes bore into sapphire.
"As you wish, Kagome." Her name tasted sinful on his lips—more decadent than any of the futuristic treats she'd presented to Rin.
He liked it.
The miko—Kagome—sputtered, almost falling over on the bank, the river resuming its usual exuberance. "I take it back. Terrible idea. Never call me that!"
A pale eyebrow raised. "Why?"
The scent of citrus and honey turned to caramel as she blushed fiercely, her gaze darting around before she gave him a pleading smile. "Way too distracting."
It was the predator that smiled back.
