"Breathe," she said, stroking the back of his neck. "I'm not going anywhere."
Sesshoumaru growled. "You should have."
"Would you rather I did?"
"It would have been the intelligent thing to do." He inhaled her scent again, his face buried in her hair as one arm snaked around her waist.
Kagome grinned, the pull of her lips brushing his cheek. "I was being intelligent. I knew you'd never hurt me."
"Kagome—"
Her arms tightened again, either to comfort him or to hide her shiver. "No buts. What happened? I've never seen you lose control like that before."
"It felt like you had died."
