Once Jack Jr. woke up, he told Elizabeth the whole story of what happened with Katherine, Andrew and the letter. Elizabeth was disappointed that Jack Jr. didn't share all of this sooner but understood. Elizabeth realized what his nightmares were about. He also told Elizabeth that he was in love with Katherine.
The day before Jack Jr. was going to be released from the hospital, Elizabeth went to get coffee. As she was walking back to the room, she saw Katherine standing in the hall.
"Hello Katherine" Elizabeth said as she walked up to Katherine.
Elizabeth. Hello. I am here to visit Jack, but I don't know what room he is in." Katherine said
"He is in that room" Elizabeth said pointing to the room.
"Thank you" Katherine started walking toward the room.
"Katherine! Can we talk for a moment?" Elizabeth asked
"Sure" Katherine said. They both sat on a bench in the hallway.
"Jack told me about you, your late husband and the letter" Elizabeth told Katherine
Katherine turned uncomfortably in her seat.
"I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry about your husband. I don't condone what Jack did, but I understand" Elizabeth said
"That makes one of us" Katherine said
"You'll have to ask Jack why he hid the letter. But I know he cared for you and didn't mean to hurt you." Elizabeth said
Katherine didn't say a word.
"But can I give you a little advice? Grieve your husband. Grieve the loss of your life together. Because if you don't, you'll end up hurting people" Elizabeth said. Elizabeth thought of Nathan.
Katherine nodded her head. They both stood up and hugged. Elizabeth watched Katherine walk into Jack's room.
Elizabeth saw Rosemary walking toward her.
"Rosemary, can you drive me somewhere?" Elizabeth asked
"Of course" Rosemary said.
The two women walked to the car. Elizabeth told Rosemary to drive to Nathan's. Rosemary had a big smile on her face. Once they made it to Nathan's home, Rosemary dropped her off.
"Listen to your heart, Elizabeth" Rosemary said as she drove away. Elizabeth nodded. Elizabeth made her way to Nathan's home. From a distance, she could see he was sitting in his swing, his favorite place. Her heart was beating loud.
As she got closer, Nathan saw her. He rose from the swing.
"Elizabeth?" Nathan said confusingly.
When she reached Nathan she stopped.
"Please, let me say something first. The reason I didn't choose you because I was scared that I would lose you like I lost Jack. Instead of facing my fears, I protected my heart. And now I'm trying to protect my heart again by placing blame on you for Jack's death. But now I can see, you had nothing to do with his death. I do not blame you for his death. Nathan, I know that I don't deserve your love or a second chance but I'm willing to spend the rest of my life loving you. You are a good, honorable man. I have been afraid and selfish. But I am willing to spend the rest of my life to make up for my mistakes. Nathan Grant, I am completely in love with you. My heart is yours, if you'll have it"
There were tears in Nathan's eyes. Nathan got close to Elizabeth. Elizabeth got closer to him. Nathan bent down and kissed her. Knowing what was coming, she smiled. The first kiss was slow. Their lips feeling out each other. The n, the kiss became intense. There was passion in the kiss. All these years of buildup were expressed in that kiss. After the kiss, they both sat on the swing. Elizabeth told Nathan that Jack Sr. had come to her in a dream and asked Nathan to help Jack Jr. She told Nathan how he was supposed to help. Nathan nodded in agreement. For the next few hours, Elizabeth and Nathan talked and kissed. They were making up for lost time.
