Chapter 8: Fractured
Take me to a place
where we can walk away
Another page, another place
Tell me a story.
It was an average day. If, a bit overcast with gray clouds. A perfectly normal day for many, but for the great treasure hunter known as Wario. It would be the start of his most pointless journey yet.
It started when Wario's alarm clock rang.
BEEP BEEP BEEP!
The alarm clock rings. Wario gets up and answers it.
"Hello? Welcome to Mona's pizza. How can I…
...Wait…You…."
A voice can be heard on the other end. It sounds like scraping rocks on ice. In fact, it consists entirely of scratching .mp3 sound effects.
"SCRRR SCCRRRR KKKSSSssssSrrrhhhhhsshhhshs"
A second voice is distantly heard over the loud scratching sounds.
"SHUT UP!" It is Wario's own voice, scraggly and compressed due to the poor audio quality of the alarm clock.
Wario, a bit surprised, hangs up and puts the clock down. He steps out of bed, noticing a scattering of debris from some previous incident (…?)
Then Wario leaves his room.
He goes to the kitchen.
There is no food, but
he sees a can of rotten tomatoes.
He turns to Waluigi, sitting in the chair.
But Waluigi is not there.
Waluigi was never there.
Waluigi is Gone now.
Waluigi is in a Better Place.
…
…
…
What is Waluigi?
...
...
...
Six hours of swimming later, the man in yellow dips below the surface of the sea for the last time.
His strength was immense, but not enough to make it to the other side.
He drowns. Slowly. Painfully. Before his vision goes dark and all he knows is nothing.
His body would never be found.
