The stairs lasted forever! Pearly white marble was everywhere, engraved and gilded with golden details. The sun was blinding and it was warm. A sickeningly sweet smell filled his nose and he could taste it as he moved his tongue about his mouth. Where was he? It looked like a temple, but not any he had seen before.
Garfield then had the slight idea that he might actually be dreaming, which would make sense since he had gone to sleep not too long ago.
"Right. It's a dream. That's easy enough to fathom. But WHY am I dreaming about this?"
As he looked about, the marble seemed to have human faces in it's veins of red minerals. "Wait. Was the marble black or white?" Things shifted in that way they do in dreams. Hooded figures came and went, like the dream was being fast forwarded. A weight built round his thighs and wrists as shackles formed and dragged him downwards to the cold floor. His hands weren't his own. The smell became more intense, mixing with the unforgettable scent of blood, and all around him a silent but defining scream echoed throughout the high ceiling.
The only feeling he now had was fear.
'Don't focus on it!' Something cried.
There was a force that wanted him to transform, to protect himself! But the dream wasn't allowing it. The leather straps kept holding him down as the blinding light hurt his eye. Everything sounded like he was under water as the dream dragged him down deeper into it's dark despair. He was helpless. Unable to do anything. Why wasn't he bigger? Why wasn't he stronger? Why couldn't he just be a tiger and break free?
His powers weren't working in his dream, but out in the real world Garfield's body was reacting. Claws started to emerge as his hands half morphed into gigantic paws. Hair began growing, and his teeth became sharper.
A beeping sound came from somewhere in his jacket. Then an alert went off on his phone.
It rang through into his dreams, loud and clear.
"It's just a dream!" He cried through gritted teeth, his head beginning to spin. Everything went blurry and he gasped like he was coming for air. The nightmare was over! Sweat dripped down his face and he shook as he grabbed for his mobile. It's blue light lit up his face and his thumb hovered over the alert. It was a call for hero back up. An explosion had happened at Star Labs.
Setting: An interview stage with two tub chairs facing each other. It's dark. A roaring can be heard from the seating area. David runs in.
David: Don't focus on it!
The lights come on slowly. An alarm goes off and Gar finds himself on stage. He falls into his chair.
David: You doing alright?
Gar: Yeah. Just a headache.
