"Today, we will be making..." Rose paused for a moment for maximum effect: "Candles!"

Her exclamation was met with silence. Everybody in the living room continued their quiet activities: reading, homework or a game of chess. Nobody looked up at her to figure out what was going on.

"I said," she insisted, "We will be making candles!"

This time, Roxanne lifted her head and groaned. "Rose, we've already made perfume, glass bead bracelets, embroidered napkins and stained glass. Can't we just do nothing for once?"

Rose frowned. "I thought you liked the stained glass activity."

Roxanne groaned again. "Rose, darling you're not getting my point."

"Aww, come on! It will be fun! Albus, you with me?" she pleaded, looking at another one of her cousins.

Albus looked up from his book. "Rose. I know we're all in lockdown and completely bored out of our head, but that doesn't mean we must do something everyday."

She sighed in defeat. Third Year was supposed to be a fun year! It was going to be her second year as a Chaser for Gryffindor, but nooooo. A pesky thing called the coronavirus had decided that it was much better if they just closed the school down, and cancelled Quidditch! She wasn't entirely sure which was the worst.

So, a whole gaggle of Weasley had suddenly found themselves at the Burrow. For some reason, their parents had all thought that it would be a nice idea to send all of their children to the Burrow as Grandma Weasley had insisted that "she had homeschooled seven children, how difficult could eight more be". Which was why Lily Luna, Albus, James, Roxanne, Fred, Lucy, Hugo and Rose had all found themselves stuck together for two months now.

Rose had taken it upon herself to entertain all of her cousins and regularly suggested some fun arts and crafts activities. However, their popularity had rapidly decreased.

"But think about all of the romantic dinners you'll be able to light up with your very own homemade candles!" she argued.

"Rose, you're thirteen," Lucy pointed out., thought not unkindly. "What romantic dinners?"

She blushed. "Candles last in time you know."

"Also, it's not like we can really have any romantic dinners right now," Fred said, "Except between ourselves."

Rose chose to ignore all of the very good arguments her cousins were presenting. She would make those candles no matter what! "Look, I've even already made some just to show you!"

She brought out the cute little red and gold candles she had taken the time to make, hoping it would persuade them. Gryffindor colours, of course. Of course, she knew the candles weren't all that fun, but since they couldn't go outside anyway and play a game of Quidditch or two, at least they could do this?

"And I ordered scented wax online!" she continued.

"Fine," James finally agreed.

Rose clapped her hands, finally glad someone had agreed to her project.

"But only if you agree not to force us into the paper-maché activity you were going to force us into tomorrow."

Her jaw dropped. "How did you know about that?" She had made such an effort to keep it a secret!

"Just go melt the wax, Rose."

Rose hurried over to the kitchen. Shoot! Those paper-maché masks she had been planning on making were really pretty! Oh well, they'd just have to wait for another day. For the moment, she was glad to see that her cousins were starting to stir off the sofas and join her in the kitchen to make the scented candles.

This lockdown might be long and boring, but she was glad she had her cousins to spend it with.
