Chapter 22 Prison of Poison

~Early afternoon of the next day…~

James sat on the stool in front of a mirror as Zelda cut his hair for him. He reasoned that it would get in the way and weighed his head down. Besides it was getting scraggly. He thanked Zelda who in turned smiled and laughed, "You look good with and without the long hair, James. Now go get that beard shaved, it'll feel better as well." She patted his left shoulder before she moved to let him up. Zelda started to clean as he left for his room where Wanda was. She had laid out a bowl of water, a razor, soap, and a towel for him.

She pouted. "I always liked you with your hair long," She fingered his short hair.

He chuckled, "Yes, I know. But like before, it reminds me of my days with HYDRA and in this case, it will only get in the way. Now step back, I need to shave my beard." Within a half hour, James shaved off his beard, looking and feeling much younger and freer.

Wanda smiled teasingly, "Who is this young rogue who's taken the form of my husband? He, being tall, dark, and handsome, is a hero I have always wanted." James smiled, his pride… and his manhood rising… at her flirtations.

"Well, if we stay here too much longer, we may not leave at all. Keep that up and I'll have you in here for the rest of the day and we won't be getting to the desert like we should."

Wanda giggled and teleporting away in a flash, leaving James curious as where she went to. She appeared in the doorway, hovering in place and giggling, "James, I'll let you have your way later when we get this quest done. We have something to do now. Come. Rin and Zelda have breakfast ready for everyone." She waited at the door, floating at shoulder height, while he changed and put on his armor and weapons. Wanda had to get us to seeing him with short hair again and without a beard.

After breakfast, Thor and Stefan led James on horseback to the edge of the Desert of Ruins. They had gotten back late in the evening. The frost giants, with Loki as their general, were to keep the twilight beasts and monsters inside the city. They were also to keep any other monsters at bay while James and Wanda went to the twilight realm to defeat Ragnar.

The Valkyries were stationed around as Sentinels at the different towns and places of refuge. With their numbers low alrighty due to Hela's invasion a few short months ago, ending only when Amelia gave Thor the memory box and now because of Ragnar's invasion several weeks ago. Because of those reasons, they could only spare 120 warriors, but they were glad to help with what they could.

Word had it from Vanaheim that Charles was sending their best warriors to help with defending Trondheim and to help in the battle that was to take place outside the palace. Like the Valkyries, his village and the three villages that supported Asgard as exiled Asgardians, they could only spare 70 of their warriors, all Asgardians or Asgardian/Vanaheimians mix, or all Vanaheimians who supported Asgard fully.

Stefan was concerned about James and Wanda and when they were to learn of Ragnar's origin and heritage. He had spoken with Steve earlier about it in private, and much further in depth with his children, thinking on how it may change their relationship with each other and with Amelia. But he put it out of his mind as they approached the desert's mountains. They approached the ruins' outer walls, hiding and scouting out the area. At the edge of the desert, they discovered a howling stone, which James used to howl for the fifth skill. Joining Thor and Stefan again, James and Wanda watched with them the heavily guarded entrance of Arbiter's Grounds.

"We'll be with you, scouting the area until night falls, James. From the looks of it, this scout group of bokoblins guarding the entrance to Arbiter's Grounds is quite large. You'll have to use your skills as an assassin to kill all the guards." Stefan whispered as they spied out the campground the enemy soldiers had set up.

James narrowed his eyes, murmuring, "Looks like there are around 50 some soldiers. I'll have to hide the bodies as I go. That way I don't arouse suspicion."

"Stefan and I can make a distraction to draw some of them off, so you don't have to take them all on your own, James. Particularly those near the entrance." Thor pointed out quietly.

"Yes, best thing to do though first is to sneak into the camp and then Thor and I can cause the distraction. Alright?" Stefan looked to James and Wanda.

Wanda nodded, "Yes." They all then hunkered down in a cave until night truly fell. Sneaking into the enemy camp under the cover of darkness, James and Wanda hid until a ruckus was made. A little under half of the soldiers in camp went to chase and battle Thor and Stefan, all falling at their legendary skills.

The other soldiers became vigilant for any intruders. James, using the bow mostly, was able to take down all 32 soldiers from hidden spots. Without detection. Those that he couldn't use the bow with, he was able to pull into a hidden spot and slit their throats, the winter soldier coming out in him. Something he thought he'd never resort to again, though he realized it wasn't the winter soldier that came out. He realized that he willingly did these things to get this disaster undone.

The winter soldier inside him hadn't reared his ugly head since the Fire Temple. The revelation shocked and appalled him. He considered the deaths of these enemies as pyrrhic victories, hollow and inhumane, but they had to be done to undo Ragnar's invasion. Wanda silent empathized with him as he killed the last guard and nodded to Thor and Stefan before he turned to the entrance of Arbiter's Grounds. Thor and Stefan could take care of themselves, knowing he had to go forward from here by himself.

James approached the entrance to the ancient prison, it obviously being in ruins and crumbling rocks. Just like the desert it rested in; the prison was fill with sand inside of it.

The prison, unlike the temples of the realms, had a rather interesting layout, seven levels, the five lower floors were at or below ground level and the other two on top. The four lower floors were below the desert's main elevation. The top two floors were for murderers and traitors to the realms, the third floor, at desert level and the entrance to the prison, was used for storage, food preparations if they had food, weapons, guard barracks, and a kitchen and outhouse. The fourth floor was used to punish and torture prisoners for information.

The fifth floor was oddly empty of any specific reason, thought there were thousands upon thousands of skeletons around, almost as if they were dumped there… The sixth floor was reserved for people who willingly allowed others to use them as vessels for evil things. The roof of the prison, which extended to the north beyond the lower levels, was the location of the Mirror of Twilight.

The final floor, for now, was unreachable, but James assumed it was used for the worst of peoples. The door leading to the seventh floor was locked and neither James nor Wanda wanted to know what was beyond the door… Even with the key that they had for it. Those evil souls who killed millions and stole people's souls. From the unknown depths of the prison, James and Wanda shuddered in fear as they heard the distant, faint screams of tortured souls from beyond…

By passing the door to the seventh level, they used one of the two keys on a second door. The room was long and had ropes with runes that had a sword trapped. The Black Renegade. The sub-guardian was always either physical or not, forcing James to change between his wolf and human forms. Killing the Black Renegade, who turned into a bunch of bats, he gained the spinner from the Black Renegade's hoard, which include a large pile of human and animal bones and treasure. I'll make sure this horde of treasure gets into Thor's treasury… He will need it to replenish the funds with the costs and toll this war is taking on Asgard and the realms. James thought as he paused to look at the treasure.

Finally coming out of the Black Renegade's prison cell, James and Wanda made their way to the seventh and final floor. It was extremely eerie as they went. Ignoring the constant, eerie, and evil sensations of being watched, James found the guardian's key beyond a locked gate in the giant room, having been forced to use mirrors to open the gate where the chest sat. As the two moved the mirrors and opened chests, there were sounds of moaning, distant screams, and groans of pain. It unnerved Wanda and James to no end and brought back bad memories to the latter.

Sighing in apprehension and annoyance, James traveled through the prison, and he approached the massive door to the guardian's chamber that led to the Mirror of Twilight above them. Inside, the chamber was the center of the prison and spanned the entirety of the prison's upper six levels, leaving the lowest level untouched for the tortured souls alone to feel its tremors of anger. Understanding the prison's layout now, the lowest level most likely remained opened to the desert's roots below to allow for a solid foundation for the massive structure above.

James shook his head; this guardian would have been used as a means of the death penalty for convicted people here who deserved it. And he was about to kill it. However, he and Wanda were surprised. James opened the door to the chamber and was faced with the skeletal remains of a massive clawed and horned creature of some kind that also had teeth. Approaching it, he and Wanda cautiously observed the skeletal remains. Its upper body was visible, but it's hips and lower legs were below the sands it was trapped in.

As James approached the skull to observe it more in depth, Ragnar appeared out of nowhere, standing on the skeleton's forehead. James whipped out Psipherion, but Ragnar's words made him freeze, "So, you survived your little tryst with me earlier. Hn… As did you Wanda. How touching." His voice dripping venom, "I'll make sure this time you won't come back so easily… father…"

Ragnar growled deeply as he pushed his skeletal hands together, and in a flash produced an evil looking broad sword. He plunged it halfway into the dead creature's skull before turning away and disappearing in a flash of twilight. The skeleton's eye sockets started to glow and before James could think much further on Ragnar's shocking proclamation, the skeleton roared to life and shrieked loudly at him, Ragnar's evil magic somehow making it reanimate.

Looking at the creature's spine sticking out of the sands below, James quickly realized he needed to use the spinner to destroy the weak ancient bones. Avoiding the dead soldiers and prisoners, he broke the first set of Stallord's vertebrae. While trying to navigate the undead knights, Wanda shrieked, "Look out!" just before James slammed into an unseen dead soldier's form.

He fell hard onto his left arm, somehow it caused a rib or two to fracture. He cried out in pain, but he needed to defeat the ancient skeleton regardless. He got up as quickly as he could, avoiding the skeleton's poisonous breath, and grabbed the spinner as he limped up and over to edge again, pain exploding in his ribcage even as he ignored it. Ignoring his pain, he navigated through the undead soldiers and smashed the next vertebrate.

An hour later, after avoiding the dead soldiers a third time, James finally smashed the last vertebra of the skeleton, causing Stallord to roar in defeat as it sank into the sands, disappearing. The sands, surprisingly, started to drain out until the bottom of the chamber was visible. Only the skull of the skeleton was left, and James and Wanda wondered in suspicion at why it remained and where the rest of its bones went to. Avoiding the skull, with the sword still buried halfway into its forehead, James painfully used the spinner to lift the floor to the original height. Though the pathway didn't appear for them to reach the other side.

"Hey! What gives? Where's the bridge to the gates outside and to the prison?" Wanda looked around. "There's no way I can carry you over to the other ledge, James."

James let out a pained grunt, "Well, we'll figure it out, doll. I…" He didn't get a chance to finish his thought when he heard a low growl from behind him. He twisted in pain to see the skull hovering in air, its red glowing eyes angered. It rushed towards him, pushing him towards the edge of the platform.

Wanda screamed, hands in front of her, as she rushed forward to help him, "NO! JAMES!"

The skull pushed him off the edge of the platform, though Wanda greatly softened his fall to the sands below. Landing in the sand hard, another three ribs fractured, a fourth to broke completely, and causing him to scream out in pain, it caused memories to go through him mind. Again, the fall from the train flashed as did several of the kills he had been forced to do for HYDRA through his mind. His indoctrination over the twenty years also flashed. He tried to get them to go away as the skull of the creature came over to hover above him menacingly. He growled, standing despite the pain. Wanda created a barrier around him and herself, weakening as the skull hit it with several balls of dark energy and poison.

Wanda supported him as he did, arguing, "James, stay down you're hurt!" She tried to keep the barrier up as she helped support him as he went to his knees.

"NO! I need to finish this. If I don't, we're both dead." James argued, groaning in pain as he stood again and getting out the spinner as he fought to have his memories fade. The pain was excruciating, but James powered through it and faced the skull.

Looking at the central platform, he noted had a track on it for the spinner. Thinking fast and ignoring the pain, he jumped onto the spinner and climbed higher on the platform. When Stallord sent out a ball of black energy again, he jumped back and forth between the other wall and the platform, until he was able to smash into the skull. It hit the other wall and fell to the ground, stunned. He raced over as fast as he could and attacked the sword with Psipherion. Its blade causing the evil sword to crack.

Soon, Stallord's skull regained its senses, forcing James to retreat and repeated his tactics. Looking up as he made ground along the tracks, he growled in annoyance and grimaced in pain as traps appeared on them, forcing him to jump between the rails more this second time. Coming around the wall, Stallord growled and threw balls of black energy at James, forcing him to jump back between the center pilar and the outer wall until at last, James smashed the spinner hard against the Stallord's head. James painfully limped over and attacked the corrupted sword with a vengeance.

The third and final time, he finally was able to destroy the evil sword. The skull roared only to fall to the sands below shattering soon thereafter. A liquid, brilliant royal blue and sparkling, came out flowing out. James recognized it to be rare blue chuchii liquid and quickly snatched up a bottle's worth, though he knew it wouldn't heal his major wounds.

James rode the spinner up the side of the platform in pain, and at the top there two bridges on either side of the platform, one leading outside and the other leading back into the prison, something that they hadn't seen in any of the other temples. Falling to his knees in pain, Buck groaned.

"James, we need to get back to Trondheim. You're in no condition to move on to the prison's arena above." Wanda growled out, forcing him to sit.

"Argh… Perhaps… Ugh… perhaps you're right. Wait… Ugh… The golden chuchii liquid!" James remembered as the pain became horrendous.

"Are you sure?" Wanda questioned.

"Yes, this counts as an emergency. Perhaps… perhaps below those ruins further to the southwest has more." He said, before he slowly, painfully, pulled out the specific bottle. Hesitating, James pulled the stopper and drank the liquid inside. James smiled despite the pain, the liquid was like eating his mother's peach jam, sweet and fruity. He closed his eyes, remembering that he would sit with his mother, sister, and father, and sometimes Steve, in the kitchen, making the peach jam during the hot summers when he was far younger, singing and dancing to the radio music after it was made, knowing that they would have food for the cold winter months ahead. Steve was as much as family back then.

Groaning, James felt his ribs healed completely, properly, as did all other wounds on his body. Relief and a heightened sense of strength returned when it was all done. He stood and stretched, relief on his face and in his voice, "Much better. Just like the writer spoke of. It healed major wounds and gives a boost of strength. And it tastes just like my mother's peach jam." He smiled in happy, yet sad reminiscence of his mother.

Wanda narrowed her eyes, annoyed, "When we are done with this quest, I'm forcing you to rest for a month."

Buck smiled with a twinkle in his eyes, his Brooklyn charm coming out, "Perhaps I can persuade you otherwise?"

Wanda hmphed, crossing her arms as she scowled, "No."

Buck rolled his eyes sarcastically, a hint of a smile on his lips, "Fine, doll. Come let's get to the arena above. We need to cross the mirror into the twilight realm." He started across the bridge which led to the arena above.

Wanda followed close behind. When they got just outside the gate, Wanda paused, "Hmmm… James, I sense five corrupted Twili beasts up there. You should transform into your wolf."

Agreeing, James touched the bead, soon in wolf form moments later. Trotting around the outside colonnade, James came to the inside of the high pillars and arches, almost exactly like the Coliseum in Rome. A tall statue of a woman holding a bowel which held a burning flame inside was at the arena's center. A snake was wrapped around her, acting as a track for the spinner. Large, heavy-duty chains, taunt and aged yet still strong, were anchored to the seven pillars of the arches above. They led into sands behind the statue in the oblong chamber, attached to something huge and bulky hidden beneath them.

Though as Wanda had mentioned moments earlier, five twilight beasts surrounded the area. Within moments, he and Wanda killed all five beasts, a portal forming above Arbiter's Grounds, giving them a fast way to arrive if need be. Transforming back to human form, Buck rode up the track to the top and used the spinner to bring up the portal rock used to go to the twilight realm. The portal rock and the mirror's stand appeared as the snake woman statue disappeared into the desert's sands below that wasn't part of the prison block.

Running up the platform which held the mirror, both were beyond horrified to find the mirror broken. A rough quarter of it remained in its frame, the only evidence of it ever being there. Wanda looked on in horror, dizzy from anger and shock, as James raged around the chambers.

After over an hour of raging, his voice hoarse, James leaned against the mirror's frame exhausted, eyes closed. Wanda was sitting on his out-stretched legs, still too shocked and enraged to say anything. It had taken them over two days to complete this temple to get to the Twilight Realm only to come to a broken mirror which did nothing except block their way to the usurper.

"You come to seek passage to the realm of twilight, younglings?" A voice inquired quietly, causing both James and Wanda to stand, ready for a fight.

Yet they couldn't find the source of the voice, instead looking around the arena for its source. They looked around in confusion, bodies tense and ready to fight when they heard a voice.

"Up here." The voice said. Both looked up, flinching in surprise and fear, to see six haunting figures on six of the seven pillars of Arbiter's Grounds. The seventh pillar remained empty, a piece missing from its edge.

"We are the seven sages of old, younglings. You seek to defeat Ragnar the usurper who came here, don't you? Here lie the remains of the mirror, he's broken the mirror and retreated to his realm." The sage stated, the one who spoke first.

The sage to the right of the first spoke, "He scattered the two pieces; one to a realm below all others and the second to the realm of trees."

"How is that he was able to do so? And why?" James inquired, his glare from his days in HYDRA coming out.

"Ragnar was given the power he has by a demon slayer. This demon slayer was sent here to Arbiter's Grounds the day you walked from HYDRA after the helicarrier and saving Steve three years ago." The third sage continued, looking to his right.

The fourth sage turned ominously, "His name is… Ganondorf."

The second to last sage, voice low and haunted, spoke, "He had been sentenced here because he had killed many people. Too many. Even some who were vital for victory against Thanos. He was restrained and placed against the very rock behind you. It was his execution and subsequently stabbed through the heart. However, his powers were still linked to the Triforce of Power. He broke his chain that shackled his left arm. Showing the faint outline of the Triforce, the piece of Power glowing even more, he broke the rest of the chains and killed our fellow sage. Desperate, we sent him through the mirror and closed it, thinking his would be a most horrible end in the Twilight… However, we were horribly wrong."

"If anyone is to blame for Ragnar's corruption, it is us, for Ganondorf got to whispering his evil lies to him." The final sage despaired, all of them holding their heads in their hands.

"What did he mean by calling me… father?" James questioned awkwardly, confused.

"That is a story you will have to ask the one you were forced to rape. She holds the answers you so desperately seek about that topic. Though it will have to remain until later. GO! Get the pieces of the mirror. When you gain them, return here and you'll have your revenge. And be warned he is sending an army out from the palace and the realms of Muspelheim and of Svartelfheim, made of fire demons and dark elves." The sages commanded before disappearing.

"Wait! I…" James growled, glaring. Wanda floated back and forth, a troubled look on her face. "What is it, Wanda? What troubles you so?"

"Did you not notice how they said, 'Ask the one you were forced to rape…'? It implies that you need to ask Amelia about the day when… you…" She trailed off, troubled more than ever.

Knowing the problem with the statement, James nodded, "I know… Let's set it in the back of our minds for now. There's too much at stake now."

~Later that day in Trondheim…~

James slowly paced the floor, the other Avengers talking amongst themselves over the troubling news. Wanda sat on the counter next to Clint, Laura, and Pietro. Steve, Thor, Stefan, and Loki were discussing the events at Arbiter's Grounds. Scott, Sam, Tony, and Pepper were speaking quietly about the town's defenses. And finally, Rin, Kagome, Zelda, and Link were chatting away about their mother.

Wanda spoke in a low voice to Clint, Laura, and Pietro about what had happened over the course of the last five weeks, ending right before they left Arbiter's Grounds, "I just am curious why they said what they said. How can we ask Amelia something if she is… gone?"

Clint and Pietro were at a loss. Laura, though, had a haunted expression on her face as she whispered, "If I had to take a gander, I would say there's more to what happened with Amelia after that day she escaped. If I had to say more, James unintentionally got Amelia pregnant and had a son. And talking about how she healed you the other day… It seems to me she isn't truly dead."

Wanda, Clint, and Pietro stared at her like she had two heads. James stopped dead in his tracks, his back to them. Stefan and Steve looked over to them, the former having an unreadable mask on his face and the latter with a pensive look. Thor and Loki stopped their talk about the Frost Giants, both having concern written on their faces. The others went silent at Laura's words and stared at her.

"What…" Wanda asked, but before she got out another words, James turned to face Laura, his face pale. He came over slumping on a nearby stool.

"If that is the case, I am the most wretched person ever. I failed her, being the very monster, I was made into, and I sired a monster. Why would a son of mine be so raged? I am such a monster myself." James whispered, hopelessly lost and self-loathing. His eyes were dead, his shoulders slumped, and legs held arms while he messaged his temples. He truly looked pathetically broken, and cornered like a wild animal.

Wanda, rage and shock going through her, "Why would you say such things, James? She had no control over what happened! Nor did you! I…"

"Don't you get it, Wanda? I raped her and placed her in a way with an unwanted pregnancy she didn't want. Why she kept him is beyond me. Why…" James looked up at her with dead eyes before he sneered and growled at the others. The others, knowing not to push James at the glare he gave him, went back to speaking quietly about the war, knowing it was a conversation that needed to be ignored.

"If she had gotten rid of him, her heart would have shattered, James." Stefan's quiet voice sounded behind James, who turned his ragingly dead and cornered eyes to him. Stefan had an emotion on his face that even Thor had never seen before. Regret. Sadness. Loss. And admonition.

"What do you mean, old man? She should have aborted this monster of a son of ours," Buck accused hesitantly, not really wanting to hear the answers regardless, yet he needed to hear. He stood and turned to the ancient warrior, tense and closed. Stefan sneered, though he wasn't at all put out for being called old. He was more enraged to know James accused Amelia of not doing something both considered murder. James sneered right back, though stepped back ever so slightly, knowing he was close to making Stefan severely enraged, especially knowing he just accused Amelia of not doing something that would have been worth doing, in his mind, to avoid this whole fate.

"You make a very bold and foolish statement, youngling," Stefan growled out, a dangerous glint in his eyes. James stepped back further from the old dragon, knowing he was close to getting physically mauled. Yet, Stefan simply continued, "Yes, she did get pregnant with Ragnar, and she did consider terminating his life, but she values life too much and she would have been deeply damaged mentally and emotionally to know she had taken the life an innocent soul regardless that the fact that you're Ragnar's father and she is his mother. She instead carried him… and his sister… to full term and adopted them out to couples who were barren." Stefan confessed, tense and enraged at James' accusation.

"Twins?! What…? I… Wait… What…" James stuttered, pale, before he became dizzy with all the information, too shocked to register its significance. He turned towards intending to go away and be alone, but he barely made it two steps before he fell to his knees, Pietro racing to catch him as he lost consciousness.

As Rin and Kagome dealt with an unconscious James, having Thor, Steve, and Pietro carry him up to his room. Kagome and Rin would make sure he was knocked out for a while, knowing a good sleeping potion that would keep him out for a few hours. Wanda sat dizzy herself, yet just shell shocked, too many emotions racing through her. Jealousy. Sadness. Anger. Betrayal. Rage. Her eyes turned glassy, mouth open slightly, and her head lulled back and forth as if drunk.

"You seem to be taking it alright, Wanda. It's not surprising James would fall unconscious. It wasn't something I would have liked to reveal to everyone here, but it was unavoidable." Stefan apologized, turning empathetic and sad eyes to her and approaching her with caution.

"No, but I understand." Wanda whispered shakily; however, it dawned on her as the shock and dizziness suddenly disappeared. HYDRA was to blame for the situation at hand, not Ragnar. All her emotions suddenly disappearing except one. Sorrow. Heart breaking sorrow. "I am just so… heartbroken… to know that HYDRA was and is, if they are still around, are so twisted and evil to force James to rape our friend Amelia, just to prove his allegiance as the winter soldier." She paused at that, all thinking the same thing. So many souls broken and torn apart and damaged, longing to be restored. All because HYDRA wanted power.

She looked up, tears flowing. "Though I am saddened and angered and jealous in a way that he sired children with another, I cannot blame him for it wasn't his fault. It makes me loathe HYDRA all the more for what they stand for. For forcing people against their wills to do things that would go completely against their morals and their very nature. They ultimately caused all this to happen in the long run. Both Thanos first and then Ragnar." Clint and Laura gathered her in their arms, comforting her. Pietro appeared from upstairs, simply kept his hand on her.

Stefan sighed in defeat, rather depressed himself, looking to the door as Thor came down alone. He frowned, concerned, not sure what to think, "Kagome and Rin are brewing up the potion now. Steve is going to stay there in the room afterwards in case James acts out while he's unconscious. Perhaps he can calm him down when he awakens." Thor nodded to Loki and the latter left, intending to head back to the city to oversee the Frost Giants.

Everyone nodded, though many excused themselves to other tasks aside from dinner, which Rin, Kagome, and Zelda would take on tonight. That left Stefan with Wanda, Clint, Laura, and Pietro.

Wanda just stared into nothing, depressed, sadness as she leaned against Clint and Laura. Why? What happened? "How is it that Ragnar is so… so… evil? What happened to the girl?" She asked Stefan, torn because she both dreaded the answer and wanted to know.

Stefan narrowed his eyes at Wanda and then looked at Pietro, Clint, and Laura. All looked to him, silently pleading for he to explain. He sighed, shoulders dropping, "You all better get seated, this is going to be a long story."

Ragnar's POV.

I sat on the throne, looking through my father's memories and Amelia's. Confusion reigned at many of them. Was Ganondorf right? Is he right? Or… Is Amelia, my mother, right? I sat there on the throne, thinking; however, I narrowed my eyes as the twilight royals cowered in the corner. My thought distracted, I screamed, "QUIET! Wretched fools." They whimpered, trembling and huddled in the corner, before going silent.

I stood, placing the gossip stone aside, and went outside to look over the landscape of the Twilight. I growled. For as long as I remained reigning, I would carry out my lord's wishes. Whether he was right or not.
