The first day that Adrien came to school feeling down about being Chat Noir, Plagg decided something needed to change. His kitten deserved to be fully appreciated. He deserved appreciation even more than Camembert and that's saying something.
When Adrien was at the photoshoot near the Eiffel Tower, Plagg was in his bag, messing around on his phone. At least that's what he would say he was doing if anyone asked him. What he was really doing was learning how to set up a website.
He managed to set one up for €7 per month. It was about the same cost as one kilo of Camembert and he was willing to accept one fewer per month to make his kitten happy. He used the 'Camembert Card' to register the domain . While he was inputting the payment details, he felt a small box drop into the bag next to him. He paid it no mind and went about his business.
He posted a link to it on the Ladyblog under his own account, CamembertDreams. He also posted it on the official Paris Heroes Subreddit. By the time Adrien's photoshoot was done, Plagg had over 1,000 people signed up as members of his website.
Plagg wasn't going to tell Adrien about the website he had set up unless he needed to. He figured that Adrien finding it himself would end up being more meaningful to him. Plagg didn't want to admit that he was the one who had set up the fansite.
While Adrien was in school the next day, giving Pigtails her necklace, Plagg made a post on the website. He posted a picture of the necklace, mentioned where to get one like it, and asked the questions: "Have you ever interacted with Chat? What was your interaction like?"
Within seconds, responses started rolling in. Plagg was lucky that Adrien constantly kept his phone on silent instead of vibrating or having the sound on. He was sure he would have gotten caught if it weren't silenced.
Most of the responses answered the questions, but multiple were pictures that showed people who had gone out to get the necklace from the same store that Adrien had gone to. A few even pointed out the fact that the necklaces glowed in the dark and at the end of the thread, someone mentioned that the store was sold out and the owner was in the process of re-stocking.
Plagg started to regularly post questions, pictures, and any Chat Noir fun facts he could think of that wouldn't risk his kitten's identity, typically along the lines of "Ultimate Mecha Strike is one of Chat's favorite game franchises!" or "Chat's favorite pastry is pain au chocolat!" He had fun with his silly posts and was able to entertain himself on the website when he couldn't talk to Adrien. After a few days, Plagg was disappointed to find that the page only had 10,000 members.
Plagg didn't think that was enough support, especially since there were over 14 million in the general Paris area. He thought about what else he could possibly do to get Chat Noir the positive attention that he deserved.
The same day that Chat Noir left the Chai Noir sign in Miraculous Coffee, Plagg decided to go on a little solo tour of the mansion. He went into Gabriel's atelier with a plan and didn't see the old man in there. Thankfully for Plagg, wherever Gabe went, he'd neglected to take his phone with him.
Plagg was unsurprised to learn that Gabe didn't use a passcode on his phone and opened his texting app. He opened an almost non-existent thread with Andre Bourgeois.
GA: I need you to do something for me.
AB: Gabe, I've told you before I can't get you out of police custody if you're caught doing whatever it is you do.
GA: Gabriel. That's not what I'm talking about.
AB: Okay. Great! What can I do for you?
GA: I need you to make an official Chat Noir Day in Paris.
AB: Aw, Gabriel. I didn't realize you're a fan of the heroes. We already have Heroes Day, though.
GA: No, different than Heroes Day. Just a Chat Noir Day.
AB: I don't know that I can get the rest of the chair members on board with devoting a day to a sidekick. I might be able to get a Ladybug Day or even a Ladybug and Chat Noir Day, though.
GA: That's disappointing to me, Andre.
AB: I'm sorry, Gabriel. I'll do my best, but my hands are rather tied. If you were mayor, you'd know what I mean.
"If I were mayor," Plagg repeated from Andre's last text.
GA: Very well, good day.
Plagg screenshotted the texts and emailed them to the address he had set up when he created the website. Then, he deleted the texts between himself and Andre so that Gabriel wouldn't be suspicious.
The next day, while Adrien was distracted at the coffee shop, Plagg started researching how to become mayor of Paris. Apparently, he needed to be at least 18 years old {check} and a French National, {easy enough}. The rules didn't say anything about having to be human, so Plagg figured he was good to go.
He announced his campaign on the Chat Noir Fan Club website with his campaign slogan 'Underdog to support Paris' favorite cat!' He listed his name as Plagg Détruit.
On the page announcing his candidacy, he spoke about the fact that he had requested that Andre create a Chat Noir Day in Paris and he had refused. He told everyone that his goal was to support the heroes as much as he could to show them how appreciated they are and get the City of Paris closer to the end of Hawkmoth's reign of terror.
Most of the members of the fanpage supported his candidacy and many of them shared a link to his campaign information. He got a message from someone asking if they could become his campaign manager and he accepted. Someone who used the name VictorGorille became Plagg's official campaign manager.
VG: I know it's you.
PD: I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just a Chat Noir Fan who made a website and is running for mayor.
VG: You're Adrien's little cat thing. You make him /him/.
PD: Ah… Gorilla… Of course, it's you.
VG: You can't legally win as you are. I want Adrien happy, too. Use me as the face of your campaign and we can get closer to winning.
PD: 3
Plagg worked behind the scenes coming up with realistic campaign promises and made an announcement on the Fan Page that he was stepping down from his own campaign to work as a manager for Victor Gorlen's mayoral campaign.
All of the supporters that Plagg had previously gotten in addition to everyone who recognized Victor as Adrien Agreste's Bodyguard became supporters of Victor's campaign. That brought their total to 50,000 supporters in just a few days.
Plagg knew it wasn't enough, but he didn't have many ways of speeding up the process of gaining support. He knew that the Ladyblog was popular, so he reached out to Alya through his email address and mentioned a few of Victor's campaign promises. Alya wrote an article about the campaign, doing her best to remain unbiased.
By the time that Chat Noir gave Marinette the earrings, Victor's campaign had 100,000 supporters.
They kept spreading the word about the campaign and the screenshots of Andre calling Chat Noir a sidekick had been 'leaked' to news stations as well as to the Ladyblog. It was a dirty play, but Plagg was the god of Chaos and Destruction. That screenshot alone brought their number of supporters to 125,000.
Plagg got on Adrien's phone and re-tweeted a Tweet from Victor's official campaign. Plagg knew it was a risky maneuver because it could get Adrien in trouble. The tweet was on his page and in a few minutes, he'd gotten just over 500,000 likes and 300,000 re-tweets, including two from Audrey and Chloe Bourgeois.
The Twitter evidence of Audrey and Chloe supporting Gorille instead of Andre's campaign was enough to get many people to support Victor. Thanks to 'Adrien's' Tweet, Plagg and Victor had 200,000 supporters.
Based on what Plagg had seen from French politics, that should be enough for Victor to win the popular vote by a lot.
The Election took place the same day that Chat Noir brought the slippers to Marinette. Plagg was willing to let Adrien go to visit his Princess, but he didn't want Adrien staying out too long that night because he wanted to see the results of the election as soon as possible.
Plagg and Victor were pleasantly shocked that night when Victor won with 75% of the popular vote and 108 of the 162 seat votes, which is what really mattered. Plagg sped through the mansion that night, looking for Victor. He found Victor in the front seat of the limo, working on his resignation letter. He didn't want to stop working as Adrien's Bodyguard, but Adrien was practically an adult now, in addition to being Chat Noir.
The swearing-in took place on the day that Adrien had given Marinette the tablet cover. Marinette and Adrien watched Victor get sworn in on her tablet. Both of them were surprised that neither noticed that he was even running for office, despite the fact that according to his Twitter profile, it seemed like Adrien's PR team had shared information about Victor's campaign.
When Victor [and mostly Plagg] became mayor, they immediately got to work on setting up the Chat Noir Day that started the entire situation. It was much easier than Andre had said it would be, which proved that either Andre was incompetent or just lazy. Maybe both. If Plagg was being honest, it was probably both.
They were able to get Chat Noir Day scheduled for next Saturday, just about a week and a half after the swearing-in. They were able to set up a parade, a small carnival, and a series of food stands in the park next to the Dupain Cheng Bakery that had all of Adrien's favorites.
Chat Noir Day ended up scheduled for the Saturday after Marinette had her panic attack and Plagg didn't know how to get Adrien's attention off of his girlfriend long enough to get him to participate in Chat Noir Day.
When Chat Noir went to drop off the keyboard one night, he asked Marinette if she knew what Paris was celebrating that day. She ruffled his hair and playfully joked, "They're probably just celebrating how wonderful you are." She looked toward him with a dreamy expression on her face.
"No," he responded with a fond smile, "that's just you, Princess." He winked at her and placed a quick kiss on her cheek.
When Adrien released his transformation that night, Plagg didn't have the heart to tell him that he had missed the first annual Chat Noir Day and he didn't even seem to care as he came up with plans for Marinette's gifts for the coming week. Plagg smiled at his kitten and curled up in his hair, purring softly.
