Hi, in this book Bucky is a borrower, a person three inches tall. This idea came up, slapped me in the face and said. "Write the damn story!" Civil war does not happen in this book. We will begin when Steve and Bucky first met, New York, Bucky has always been a borrower.
Bucky's POV
"Oh no," I whispered as the sickly looking human stared at me. He was about sixteen, and appeared to have several medical issues, his mom had apparently died and he had moved into the apartment where I lived. I had mistakenly thought he was gone and wandered out of the wall to do some borrowing. Now the teen stared at me, as I was on the counter and in plain sight. He started to walk over and I panicked. I ran nearly to the complete edge and only stopped myself from falling by grabbing hold of it.
The human reached me and grabbed me before I could let go. "Woah!" He said breathlessly. "I'd heard about... but never believed." I squeaked as he dropped me into his other hand. "Take it easy," he said gently. "I'm not gonna hurt you." I looked up at him doubtfully, no human ever had not hurt a borrower they found. "I'm Steve Rogers," He said. "What's your name?" I shifted nervously, not replying would end badly. "James Buchanan Barnes" I said in fear. "My family called me Bucky."
"Then I'll call you Bucky too," he said softly. My stomach growled and I remembered that I needed food. The whole reason I had come out of the wall was so I could eat something. Steve smiled down at me. "Let's get you something to eat." He said setting me back on the counter as gently as he could. I backed away a little bit as he brought out some apple slices and gave one to me.
"Help yourself Bucky," He said kindly. As he and I shared the apple we talked about our families. His mom had gotten sick and died and his father died in war. I never knew how my parents died, they just left and never came back. "Hey," said Steve abruptly. "Why don't we,um, you know, stay here together? Like roommates. I need a friend, and maybe you do too."
I thought about it, it would be dangerous for me. "I don't know Steve." I said hesitantly. "We'd both have to be careful, I could die very easily." Steve nodded. "I'll be very careful, Bucky, I promise." He said earnestly. After considering it form a ten minutes I agreed. "Yeah, okay, let's do it."
