Bucky's POV

We were on a snow covered mountain the Howling Commandos were preparing to zipline onto the train. "Remember when I made you ride the Cyclone at Coney Island?" I asked Steve as I sat in his pocket. "Yeah, I and I threw up?" Steve grinned as I nodded nervously. "This isn't payback, is it?" I asked jokingly."Now why would I do that?" Asked Steve teasingly.

Gabe Interrupted us. "We were right. Dr. Zola's on the train. Hydra dispatcher gave him permission to open up the throttle. Wherever he's going, they must need him bad."Falsworth put in his two cents. "Let's get going, because they're moving like the devil."

"We only got about a 10-second window. You miss that window, we're bugs on a windshield." Said Steve."Mind the gap." Added Falsworth."Better get moving, bugs!""Maintenant! (Now!)"Steve, Gabe, and I zipplined onto the train. I fell out of Steve's pocket, but that didn't matter because Howard had made me guns. After Steve helps him out."I had him on the ropes." I said happily

"I know you did." Steve said teasingly, another trooper with a blaster appeared."Get down!""Fire again! Kill him! Now!" I heard a voice that was all too familiar. I jumped out of Steve's pocket onto the ground.

Steve's POV

Bucky had been blasted through a hole and was now hanging outside the train."Bucky!" I yelled, I had to save him!"Hang on! Grab my hand." He made an effort to grab onto me, but his other hand slipped and he fell."NO!" I screamed.

a few days later*

I heard Peggy approach me in the destroyed bar that I was trying, unsuccessfully, to drink away the pain."Dr. Erskine said that… the serum wouldn't just effect my muscles, it would effect my cells. Create a protective system of regeneration and healing. Which means um…I can't get drunk. Did you know that? I asked her.

"Your metabolism burns four times faster than the average person. He thought it could be one of the side effects." She sensed I was feeling guilty about Bucky. "It wasn't your fault." She added.

"Did you read the reports?" I grimaced."Yes." She said. "Then you know that's not true." I said."You did everything you could. Did you believe in your friend? Did you respect him?" I stared at her as if to say yes."Then stop blaming yourself. Allow Barnes the dignity of his choice. He damn well must have thought you were worth it."

"I'm goin' after Schmidt. I'm not gonna stop till all of Hydra is dead or captured." I said with a voice of granite."You won't be alone." Peggy whispered
