Agustin was pressing himself against the wall as he glanced over the door frame, checking to make sure that there was no sign of his mother in law… He seemed to be in the clear.

Then Agustin rushed outside and into the gardens as he called. "Luisa… Luisa!"

"Si Papa."

"WOAH!" Agustin yelled in surprise as he was about to fall down. Only to be grabbed by his own eight year old daughter who now held the neck of his shirt and Agustin's face was just inches away from the ground now hovering over it.

Luisa however didn't even seem to mind as she just pulled her father right back up and Agustin stumbled a little bit but finally found his footing. "Thank you sweetheart," he said as he pushed his glasses back into place.

"That's okay. Did you need something Papa?" Luisa asked.

Agustin looked himself over the shoulder as if to check for people, then bowed a little down so he could speak in a low voice. "You found a prophecy this morning, right? In the garden?" he was of course referring to one of Bruno's old shining jade slabs that would illustrate his prophecies.

"Si." Luisa nodded. "Abuela told me to throw it out."

Agustin nodded. "What did you do with it?" he asked.

Luisa blinked. "I… Threw it out."

"Oh." Agustin halted then sighed. "Where did you throw it out?" he asked. "Where is it?"

Luisa blinked and then pointed, at the larger outdoor bin standing by the entrance.

"Right… Okay. Thank you." Agustin sighed deeply. "Erhm… There's no one else around is there?" he asked.

"Mama is in the kitchen, Tia Pepa and Isabela are visiting the fields and Abuela is looking after Mirabel and Camilo today," Luisa informed. "I think they are in town."

"Okay, that's good… That's good." Agustin sighed. "Gracias Luisa," he said and then he halted and he put a finger to his lip. "This just stays between you and me. Okay?"

Luisa blinked looking kind of confused but finally nodded. "Okay," she replied and Agustin smiled as he ruffled up his daughter's hair before finally going to the bin.

For a moment Agustin stood next to the bin but then finally opened the lid and looked down. Thankfully the prophecy was not far away and easy to spot. The green glowed from the semi darkness of the bin and Agustin reached down to find three perfect pieces of a broken jade slab.

Then Agustin sat down on the ground and put the three pieces together to see….. A dead Papaya tree standing in a backyard. It was another dud. It was the Papaya tree in the Guzman's yard and it had died a couple of years ago. Meaning that this prophecy was even older than that.

And Agustin sighed as he picked up the pieces and threw them back into the bin. Then took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes.

Ten months ago now. His brother in law had disappeared.

It had been such a hectic night. First Mirabel's door had vanished by her touch, then the townspeople had panicked sending the family into a frenzy, and then… Bruno had left to talk with his mother. And they never saw him again.

The only thing they knew was that Alma had asked Bruno for a vision and he had gone to have a vision.

That though begged one massive question…. What was that vision?

Agustin knew. Whatever Bruno had seen that night. That was the key! That would have to explain why Bruno left.

Agustin knew his beloved wife was hurting and so were his children. They all wanted to know why, but there were no answers.

If only Agustin could find that prophecy… whatever it was. Then maybe he could help ease his family's pain.

So each time a prophecy had shown up Agustin had made sure to at least check it, to see what it was.

But so far every single one that had shown up was old. Some even decades old.

Agustin shook his head…. What could have driven Bruno away? Agustin would like to think that he had learned to know Bruno over the years. And if there was something he had always admired about his brother in law, it was how dedicated he was to his family. No matter the pushback. Bruno had always been ready to jump in whenever someone needed a hand.

Agustin had also felt an odd sort of kinship with his strange brother in law. They were both a bit of a walking disaster and many people would often shake their heads at them.

Bruno had always been a rather strange sort, but so was Agustin. And they had managed to bond over the joys of music and a good telenovela. Over the mishaps of the kids and how worried they could be over the children's future.

Or at least… That's what Agustin thought.

If only… If only he could find that prophecy. Find out what Bruno saw that night. Then maybe… Some of this could be fixed. And he had something to tell his amazing wife when she showed up with red rimmed eyes but insisted she had not cried.

Agustin felt so hopeless in those moments and did the only thing he could think of doing. Just hold her and not ask any more questions… What else was he supposed to do?

When Julieta had quietly asked if they could just... not celebrate her birthday this year. Just forget it. Then what else was Agustin supposed to do than nod and agree? Whatever she wanted or needed... It was just.

"Hey Hermano." Agustin talked out into the air, though he knew no one could possibly hear him. "Isn't it about time you came home?" he asked. "I'm doing my best but… I can never be you." he sighed deeply as he shook his head.

He had figured that out rather quickly when he started to date Julieta. He could never replace her brother. And that was fine because Agustin had never wanted to…. But now. It felt like a curse.

He could not fill in that hole left behind. It was just impossible. Bruno wasn't just Julieta's brother, he was her triplet. A life companion Julieta had shared a baby bed with, every single birthday in her life had been with her triplets. She had insisted she wanted Bruno to walk her down the aisle to the altar. No one else in the world would do.

Bruno was such a big part of her. Of who she was! And she was the woman Agustin loved more than anything else in the world, he wouldn't want her any different...

Then Agustin inhaled deeply and started to walk back inside, trying to think if there was any place he hadn't checked yet for hidden away prophecies.

He knew it was pretty foolish to still be looking. Chances were that whatever slab Bruno had created that night, he would have taken it with him. Or hid it much better than this. But still, as long as there was the slightest hope. Agustin would keep looking.

Whatever image that glowing jade tablet showed… It had to be the key.
