Bucky's POV

I woke up a few minutes later, laying on something very warm and soft. I shot up from where I was laying and looked around wildly, looking for anything familiar. Every time I slept, my cot was never soft, it was always harder than a rock, there was also never a blanket.

After a minute I realized that I was in a box, sure, it was a big box but I didn't like it one bit. I was too trapped to do anything to defend myself and there was nowhere to hide. I tried to scramble up the sides of the box even though I knew it was useless, they were too high and smooth to climb. After about ten minutes I give into despair and started sobbing.

The blonde man came in after a few seconds with the woman and another man. "Bucky!" Said the blonde man in alarm. "Are you ok? Nat what do we do? He's crying!" The woman 'Nat' rolled her eyes and said. "Knock it off James." As she looked at me. That made me cry even more because she was a black widow, no amount of crying would help me with her.

The other man stared at me in awe. "Nat," He asked, unsure of what he was seeing. "Is that a borrower?" She nodded as the blonde man continued to talk to me. He started getting nervous and that made me more scared, whenever my handlers were nervous I would get hurt. I cowered in the corner farthest away from him and continued crying.

The Blonde started cursing in Gaelic under his breath which, for some odd reason calmed me down a little. He noticed this and picked me up, I started hyperventilating and cried harder than ever. 'This is it,' I thought in fear. 'I'm going to die!' The other man smacked him, and said firmly. "Stop it Steve, let me see him." The blonde man, Steve handed me to the other man who took me aways away from the others, sat down, and set me on the floor in front of him.

This surprised me, he gave me room to run away and places to hide, no one did this. I started calming down. "There buddy," he said. "I'm not here to hurt you and neither are they." He gestured towards the other two. "You ok? You're not hurt are you?" I blinked twice before responding. "Asset is unharmed, mission failure." I then cringed away, expecting punishment.

"Well that's alright," said they man gently. "We're here to help, not gonna hurt you, ok?" I nodded, the man turned to the other two. "Does he really need to stay in that box?" He asked in concern and disgust. Steve and Nat nodded,"He needs to be secure so we can help him." Said Steve regretfully.

The other man grimaced and I looked at him with pleading eyes. 'Please no.' I thought as he turned back to me. "Ok buddy I'm going to put you back, but don't worry, I'll be back to be sure they aren't scaring you. Do I have your permission to pick you up?" I was confused, why was he asking me if it was alright? But I nodded and he held his hand flat in front of me so I could climb on.

I hesitated for a moment before getting on his hand, he allowed me to sit there without grabbing me as he eased me back into the box. As soon as I climbed off he drew the others out of the room and I was alone.

Steve's POV

Clint was livid, apparently he really disapproved of the way we were doing this. "Don't ever pick him up without at least warning him!" He growled angrily. "Put yourself where he's at, he's tiny! He needs to feel like we are actually trying to help him. The only thing you do if you just pick him up is prove to him you're someone to fear!"

Then he gave information about how to help and care for Bucky. "If he must stay in that box there are a few things you need to know." He added. "He needs food at least three times per day, at relatively the same time so he knows when food is coming. He needs water way more often, about every twenty minutes, check on him every little bit so you know if he needs something. Never pick him up unless it can be avoided, it makes him feel defenseless."

"How do you know all this?" I asked Clint in surprise. He smiled mischievously and responded. "When I was young I would knock on my bedroom walls and try to tell the borrowers in there I was friendly and wanted to say hello. I either didn't have any or they thought I was a nut case, because I never saw one. Even so, I've practiced what to do if I ever saw one, so I'll be back soon enough to check on him."
