Bucky's POV

I spent all night trying to get out of the box, I knew it was comfortable, but I hated the trapped feeling I got from it. After what felt like an eternity, I heard birds chirping and Steve getting up from bed. He walked over to the box and I cowered in the corner again. "Hey," He said in concern. "You sleep ok Bucky? I know you're scared but you don't have to be." He continued like that for a few moments and then left.

I breathed I sigh of relief thinking he was gone. Then he entered the room with a bottle cap full of water, this he set in the box with me, far away from me. I looked up at him in confusion, why was he giving me water? "I thought you might be thirsty," he said. "You were crying pretty hard, and you had just gotten done with a fight."

"So here you go." He said after getting up. "I'm going for a run, don't worry Clint will be here soon." After he left the second time I ran over to the water and drank it as fast as possible. I was seriously dehydrated and had a bit of a headache. I kept trying to get out for about five minutes before I heard someone come in. It was the nice man from yesterday.

'This must be Clint.' I thought as he peered at me from over the box. "Hi little buddy," he said kindly. "You doing alright?" I nodded quickly to assure him I was fine, he stood up. "Have you eaten yet?" He asked, I shook my head hesitantly. "Well let's fix that."

He left the room and there was a commotion from another room. After awhile he came back holding something. "Ever had pancakes?" He asked. "I made them small for you." I shook my head as he set a makeshift plate with several pancakes on it. "Enjoy!" He said happily.

I hesitantly picked up a pancake and looked at Clint, who was too engaged in eating his to notice. I bit into it and then proceeded to eat the rest as fast as I could. When I ran out of pancakes I was still hungry, Clint seemed to notice. "Hey buddy, want some more?"

"Y-yes." I said, then I coward away, I was not supposed to want things. "Ok," Clint said. "I'll go make more." As he left I was confused. "Why isn'theangry?" I thought as he came back With a few more, I had never felt full at HYDRA. 'This is a nice Feeling.' I thought as I finished eating.

After awhile Clint gave me some more water and said. "How about we get you out of that box for a bit?" I nodded excitedly, maybe I could escape. "Do I have your permission to pick you up?" He asked and looked at me for a go ahead, I nodded and he set his hand down so I could get on. He carried me out of the box and to a bigger room and set me down.

"There you go bud." He said as he got up to do something and left the room. I did a quick look around the room and discovered that the door was open just enough to get through. I made a beeline for it as Clint came back. I was almost there when Clint scooped me up.

"No!" I screamed as I hit his hand as hard as I possibly could. "Let me go! Please! I don't want to die!" Clint held me close for a moment before saying. "Hey, no one is gonna hurt you. We're trying to help, I know. The box isn't a very good way of doing that, but that's so we can be sure you're safe while we help." He set me back in the box after awhile.

"The box isn't a punishment, it's a boundary. To make sure nothing that wants to hurt you can." He said as he set something in the box with me. That's a treat for you," He said gently. "I have to go soon. But really don't be afraid to ask for something." He stood up and walked over to what he set down, It smelled sweet. As I nibbled on it I remembered something.

I was stealing bread from Steve again. Sure he gave me food, but this was instinct. Stealing was how I was supposed to live. "Buck," He said, letting me know he could see me. "What are you doing? You know you can ask me for food anytime, right?" I nodded. "Sorry Steve," I said. "But this is what I'm used to doing."

Steve picked me up and set me on the arm of his chair. "Here you go, Bucky." He said handing me a piece of cookie. I nibbled on it happily. "Thanks, Steve." I said.

I continued eating the cookie and thinking about the memory when Steve came back from his run. "Hey Bucky," He said happily. "Need anything?" I shank back before getting the courage to say. "C-can I have a-another b-blanket? It's c-cold at night." I then cowered in the corner, waiting for rage or any punishment to happen.

Instead his eyes lit up, like he was happy to hear that. "Sure Bucky." He said as he walked off. He came back in a few minutes with another blanket and set it near me. "There you go." I looked up at him. "You're not... mad?" I asked timidly. Steve shook his head. "No, if you need something, you should ask. We won't hurt you for asking." He got up and left and I dragged the blanket over to the bed. I sat down on it and got under the blankets and noticed my eyes felt heavy. Before I knew it I was fast asleep.
