Bruno was sitting in a rather strange position, he was on his knees, on his table, looking through his little crack at the dinner table outside.
It was supposed to be some sort of engagement dinner tonight where Mariano Guzman would propose to Isabela.
Mariano had been around for a while and well… He seemed pretty nice. Though if Bruno was to be honest. Mariano didn't really seem like Isabela's type. He had always imagined that if Isabela was going to end up with anyone, it would be someone with a bit more of a wild and unpredictable personality.
But oh well. If it made Isabela happy, then that was fine. And it wasn't what Bruno was concerned about right now.
Had Mirabel found the prophecy!? Was it there? Bruno was scanning the table for the sight of a bit of glowing green but came up short.
Which was… predictable. If Mirabel had found the prophecy. What were the chances that she would take it to the dinner table?
Bruno's eyes turned to Mirabel who was sitting between Isabela and Agustin… And… Okay, that was weird. Something about this looked really… Weird.
Bruno blinked as he leaned closer to get a look. Mirabel was leaning over the table, looking directly at Dolores in front of her.
Dolores was looking like she was about to burst at the seams.
…. What was going on? Bruno tilted his head as a bowl was offered to Mirabel and Dolores started to whisper something to Camilo making Bruno frown and then suddenly.
Camilo coughed and in a quick succession turned into Mirabel and… BRUNO HIMSELF before turning back.
Bruno's eyes widened in horror and he grabbed his hair… She had found the prophecy. They had found the prophecy!
… Oh... No...
Then Bruno gasped as Camilo was now whispering to Felix making Felix spew out his water.
Oh no no no no! Bruno had to stop himself from screaming which resulted in a high pitch sound from deep within his throat. Probably too high in frequency for any human being to hear. Which was good for him right now. But what was happening out there was bad. And now Felix was whispering to Pepa!
Then a loud cloud formed over the entire table out there, showing deep thunder.
She knew… Pepa knew…. Bruno was in so much trouble.
"Pepa. The clouds." Alma hissed and Pepa gasped as she stroked her braid whispering until suddenly… SHE WHISPERED IN JULIETA'S EAR.
This was not good… This was not good. What else could… Then Bruno noticed. Behind them! A crack was forming in the wall. Oh no. No one seemed to have noticed though so… That was good. Wait.. Where was Mirabel? Mirabel was gone!
Oh there she was. Under the table… Okay…. Wait what was Mirabel doing under the table?
Bruno started to look around for clues while the family started to talk about Piano and proposals and whatever.
And then suddenly… Bruno saw it. In Agustin's pockets. The shards of green glowing glass. It was in Agustin's pocket! And Bruno gasped.
"Get that prophecy!" he exclaimed and the rats jumped down looking questionable at him. "I know it's risky. The family can't see you. But you gotta get it! Get it before…" Bruno halted as he looked up.
Someone else had gotten the same idea. Some of Antonios animals were stealing pieces.
"Hurry." Bruno whispered and finally, the rats nodded as they ran off while Bruno gasped.
And then suddenly a thousand things happened at once. Thunder erupted as Pepa's grin looked more tormented than ever. Luisa was pulling in the piano but could barely move it and she cried.
Tucans were flying around the entire place. Mirabel was throwing herself under the table.
Senora Guzman gasped. "What is happening!"
And Dolores shouted as she covered her ears. "Mirabel found Bruno's vision! She's gonna destroy the magic and now we are all DOOMED!"
And then finally, a tray with the completed vision just came flying from under the table and sailed through the air until it landed right in front of Alma.
The cracks on the back wall… Grew. They spread and spread going across the entire dining room and finally the storm that had formed pushed open the door showing a big party outside ready to congratulate them all on the engagement.
And finally… It ended with great indoor rain. Drenching everybody in there.
Bruno gasped, he was looking towards Mirabel who was standing up with her back towards the walls and the cracks. They looked like they were coming from her.
"I… I'm sorry." Mirabel gasped. "I'm sorry… I didn't mean."
Bruno hissed as he jumped down from his table. He needed to get the vision! Maybe if he got the vision back he could… he could… He just had to get the vision! And he ran out and towards the portrait entrance while desperately trying to think of something.
Mirabel didn't know what to say. There she was standing. Her entire family just looking at her as the heavy rain was falling inside, drenching them all to the bone.
Everyone was looking at her... Well all except one. Alma was now looking at the prophecy right in front of her. The green glow reflected on her face and she shook.
"His last vision," Alma whispered.
"I… I…" Mirabel swallowed. "I found it in his tower," she whispered. "I'm sorry… I."
Alma was looking at the image in front of her, then her eyes hardened as she looked up. "So it was you."
"What? NO!" Mirabel shouted as she backed away and Alma stood up.
"WHAT DID YOU DO!" Alma shouted and suddenly, all the cracks above them just seemed to double.
"MAMA! NO!" Julieta grabbed Alma's shoulder.
"Get off me Julieta!" Alma gasped. "Because of her! He…" she stopped herself and corrected the sentence. "The magic is in danger!"
"Don't touch my daughter!" Agustin exclaimed as he stood up placing himself between Mirabel and Alma.
"Eeerh…" Mariano halted. "I think maybe we should leave for today."
"Urgh!" Isabela hissed at Mirabel. "This is your fault! You always ruin everything!"
"I'm sorry!" Mirabel cried. "I didn't mean!"
"CAMILO!" Pepa screamed as she reached for her son that now looked like an elderly woman but with stubble all over the face and a tattooed arm.
"I'm sorry!" Camilo gasped. "I don't control it!" he screamed and was suddenly a little miniature version of himself. "HELP ME!" he cried as Felix grabbed him and hugged him close.
"It's okay Hijo. It's going to be okay!" Felix gasped as he held his son who kept changing forms.
"It's loud! Everything is loud!" Dolores cried covering her ears. And suddenly a vine just came and slapped a chair away.
"SORRY!" Isabela screamed.
"Yeah erhm… I really apologize. But I need to take my Mama home." Mariano gasped as he stood up and helped Senora Guzman up.
"No! WAIT!" Alma shouted.
Mariano turned to her. "Let's just re-schedule si?" he asked. "Clearly you guys have a few things to sort out among yourselves. I'm really sorry Isabela." he apologized sincerely. "We'll do this right later. I promise."
"O… Okay." Isabela swallowed.
"Come on Mama." Mariano whispered as he helped his old mother. "I'm taking you home."
And Senora Guzman nodded looking very startled as Mariano guided her outside of the breaking room.
And Alma gasped as she ran after her. "Senora Por Favor!" she called as Mirabel came right after her.
"Abuela, please! There gotta be an explanation!" Mirabel gasped.
Just as Isabela came past her too shouting. "I hate you!"
And then Luisa was screaming and crying.
Finally, Pepa marched past her as she exclaimed. "What did you do?"
"I…" Mirabel gasped. "I didn't do anything! It was Bruno's vision!" she cried. Then suddenly stopped as wide-eyed Mirabel looked down to see rats!
Rats running straight past her feet all holding pieces of the prophecy. What? And she gasped. Running after them.
Bruno was headed towards the portrait opening as he gasped. Please… Please Dios Mios let it not be too late. Please let me be able to fix this… Somehow.
There was chaos in the house. Family members, shouting, crying, and running around.
There was one though who had gone unnoticed. She was sitting outside in the rain… already drenched and Julieta looked up as she gasped.
So that was the vision. Bruno's final vision. Julieta's eyes watered and she sniffed… he had protected her girl. Bruno had tried to protect her.
"Oh Hermano." Julieta sniffed. "I wish you would just have told us… Why do you always think you need to carry the burden alone?" she asked. And she swallowed. "I could really use your help about now Bruno… I don't know what to do. How do we protect her?" she asked.
Bruno gasped as he saw the pieces of green coming running towards him. Good job guys! You got the vision! And he grinned as he picked the pieces up then looked up to see one lone rat a bit behind and Bruno stepped forward and past the corner as he gasped, bowing down to pick up the prophecy, and stood up.
Then suddenly there was a thunder crack, illuminating what was next to Bruno and he blinked as he turned his head to see.
Mirabel… Mirabel was standing right next to him. Illuminated only by the short lightning strike and then it was dark again.
She was right next to him. Had she seen him? She looked like she had seen him. That wasn't good... That was really bad!
Bruno could only think of one cause of action…. RUN!
