Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who and ever never will unfortunately, but I do own Sophie McQueen and any other characters I come up with.
Author's Note: Been rewatching Doctor Who from the beginning and it made me remember Rewritten in the Stars, the story where Sophie met the Ninth Doctor instead of the Tenth, but I stopped writing it after the first part of Aliens of London. Watching the show again made me want to bring it back. So here we are! A few things, I'm fixing it to where it is in third person instead of first as I find myself liking writing in that point of view more than first and the first thirteen chapters are the original ones so not much will change with them except for that they will be in third person instead. Also, I'm probably going to end up rewriting Written in the Stars where it's in third person instead of first, but also completely rewriting it so look out for that. Anyway enjoy the story as if your reading it for the first time lol. :D
The alarm in one Sophie McQueen's flat blared to life, signally the start of a new day, one she didn't really want to start.
She groaned loudly as she slammed the alarm clock into the off position and sat up in her bed, rubbing her eyes. She was careful not to wake up her boyfriend of two months, Lucas, who insisted on staying the night. Sophie got irritated enough that she finally relented and let him stay with her. She was too tired to argue with him.
Honestly, Sophie couldn't remember for the life of her why she was even with this man in the first place. She hadn't been really interested in him. It took her a minute to remember why. Lucas was the brother of Mickey Smith, Rose Tyler's boyfriend, her best friend since childhood, and she thought it would be so cool if Sophie dated Lucas so if she and Rose married the Smith brothers, then they would be sister-in-law. Not a good enough reason to be with someone but still.
Thinking about it, two months was actually the longest she had ever been with someone. The most was normally a couple of weeks. Though she had been dating Lucas for a while, Sophie didn't think he was the right one for her. He was too immature for her but that could just be her. She had always been too mature for her age as her Aunt Sarah Jane would say.
Speaking of her aunt…
Sophie went to climb out of her bed to grab her mobile, but a hand grabbing her arm stopped her. She turned her head to see Lucas now sitting up in bed, the covers resting against his naked waist as he looked over at her with a sleepy expression on his face.
"Where you goin' babe?" he asked, his voice deep with sleepiness.
"Checking my messages to see if my aunt called, and then I have to take a shower and get ready for work." Sophie answered, gently removing his hand from her arm so she could slide out of bed, revealing her naked form. She didn't have to look back at her boyfriend to know he was staring at her hungrily as he always did when he saw her naked. It was annoying to say the least, but it shouldn't be such a surprise. He was a man after all.
Rolling her eyes internally, Sophie wondered to herself why she slept with him in the first place. It wasn't like he was great in bed, like at all. There was no pleasure or excitement in it whatsoever.
"Do you have to?" he asked with a whine.
Since she wasn't facing him, Sophie rolled her eyes. "Yes." She walked over to her dresser and grabbed her mobile, looking through her messages. She had actually gotten a message from my aunt. Multiple ones, in fact. Before she could take a listen to them, she felt arms wrap around her from behind and pulled her back against his naked chest.
Sophie sighed.
"Come on, babe, you can be a little late." He told her, leaning down to press a kiss to her shoulder before moving up to her neck to press a sloppy kiss there.
"I can't." And she really couldn't. Sure Henric's, the department store where she and Rose worked, wasn't a great place to work at but it paid for the bills. Also she was never late, and she wasn't about to start now.
"But…" Lucas started to protest, but Sophie cut him off.
"Just let go of me. Please." After he let go and backed away from her, she said, "Thank you."
Her boyfriend sighed. "Sure. Well, I should get going… are you and Rose still meeting Mickey and me for lunch."
"Mickey and I." Sophie couldn't help but correct him as she glanced away from her mobile to look at him. That's what happened when you were dating an English major. It also annoyed the hell out of him.
He rolled his eyes. "Whatever…are you?"
"Yeah." Sophie went back to paying attention to her phone. "At least I think so. I could be wrong." There was silence as she looked through her text messages. It was broken after a moment by the sound of Lucas' voice.
"Alright, I'm leaving." Sophie felt him kiss her on the cheek and she looked back at him to see he was dressed. "See you later babe."
Sophie gave him a small smile. "Yeah, see ya." He smiled back at her and left the flat, closing the door behind him. Once he was gone, she let the smile fall from her face as she let out a sigh of relief. She knew she should break up with him, but she didn't want to hurt his feelings. However, she couldn't string him along either. Either way he would end up getting hurt. For now though, she decided not to worry about it as she needed to take a shower so she could go to work.
After finishing looking at her messages and deciding to call her aunt after work, Sophie went to take her shower. It was a rather quick one though. Luckily she had enough time to dry her hair and do her make up. She fixed her hair up in a bun with a pin she had found on the sink. Finally finished, Sophie stepped out of her bathroom and grabbed her bag, fixing the strap over her shoulder, before heading towards her front door just as there was a knock at said location. A smile appeared on her face, knowing it was Rose. They normally took the bus together to work. She went over to the door and pulled it up, revealing the smiling face of her best friend, Rose's blonde hair, which was darker than her own blonde hair, shining in the sun.
"Morning Soph!" Rose greeted. "Ready for work."
"Unfortunately, even though I rather be asleep right now." Sophie said, earning a nod of agreement from Rose.
"Me too." She laughed, linking her arms with her best friend as they began walking down the stairs of the flats of the Powell Estate.
They took a bus to work and once they got there, Rose and Sophie immediately got to work, stacking up clothes up on the shop floor. Whenever they would walk pass one another, they would share bored looks and collective sighs, then go off on their merry way. Even though she had only been working for an hour, Sophie already wanted it to be lunch and eventually, it finally was.
They ended up meeting up with Lucas and Mickey, but lunch went by too quickly for Sophie's taste and they were back to work. Around eight o'clock, the loud speaking went, making her come to stop.
"This is a customer announcement: the store will be closing in five minutes. Thank you."
Excitedly, Sophie finished the last stack of clothes and went to meet up with Rose so they could leave together. She didn't even get out the door because a sercuity guard stopped her, waving a bag in front of her face.
"Oi!"
Sophie groaned at the sight of the lottery money bag in front of her face. "Can't someone else do it?" She protested. "I have school to get to." Luckily it was only one night class tonight. He just continued waving the bag in front of her and she groaned again, "Fine."
"Do you want me to come with you?" Rose asked from outside of the door.
"No, it's fine. I got it. Go ahead and go home."
"Sure?"
Sophie nodded. "I'm sure."
Before Rose could respond, the security interrupted, "Oi!" He exclaimed.
"Okay, okay." Sophie took the bag from him and she flashed a smile to Rose before heading for the lift. When it pinged, signally the lift was at its destination, she stepped off and turned on the light, alighting the basement so she could see. Even then, it was still dark, but she could still see. "Hello? Wilson?" She called for the chief electricition as she headed further down the corridor, "I've got the lottery money that you won!" Surprised at getting a response, as he usually was in his office, she went up to the door that said, 'HP Wilson CEO, and she knocked on the door. "Are you alright in there?" Again no response, earning a sigh. "Look, I can't stay here and wait for you. The store's closing soon and I really have to get to class. I can't be late." At not getting another response, she gave a small groan, "C'mon Wilson!"
Out of nowhere, there was a sound coming further down the corridor, making her jump in surprise and look in the direction where it came from. The feeling she usually got when watching a scary movie came over her, and Sophie gulped.
"Um hello!" She called out nervously. "Who's down there? Is that you Wilson? It's Sophie. I was just bringing you the lottery money." The sound continued and she hurried down the corridor, stopping outside a fire door just for a moment to catch her breath. Her heart beat against her chest, and her hands started to sweat. Taking a deep breath, she opened the fire door and stepped inside the storage for the shop dummies. She wanted to leave already, but for one, she had to give Wilson the lottery money, and secondly, for some reason, she had a feeling that something was going to happen. Something good. Something that would change her life forever. So, Sophie turned on the light and walked further into the room. "Wilson? Wilson?" She called again, trying to mask her nervousness. She tried another door.
The fire door she had came through shut suddenly, making Sophie jump and her heart beat against her chest again, faster this time. She turned on her heel, running back to the door, shaking the knob multiple times, but it wouldn't budge. Then, there was a small noise from behind her. "Who is that?" Her voice squeaked lightly. Taking a deep breath, she started walking back into the room. "Look, I don't know who you are, but I do have a weapon on me!" She threatened lying through her teeth, forcing a strong tone in her voice. "And I'm not afraid to use it! Really I'm not!"
Hearing a sound from behind her again, Sophie whirled around only to see a dummy stepping out of its alcove and moving towards her. Immediately,. she started backing away, laughing nervously.
"Um…hello…" The dummy didn't say anything, not that Sophie expect it to as two more joined it, continuing to advance towards her. This oddly felt like one of the stories her aunt told her. About this Doctor who would always come and save the creatures from outer space. Call her weird, but she still believed in them. They always felt so real when her aunt would tell them. So as she backed away from the dummies, she kept repeating the name 'Doctor' in her head. Any normal person would probably think this was one big joke, but this felt way too real. More dummies came to life, until eventually all of them were heading towards her. Sophie ended up tripping over a box, making her stumble backwards into a wall, letting out a squeak as her back made contact. One of the dummies lifted an arm to strike her, so she closed her eyes, waiting for the impact.
Doc… Before she could finished her thought, Sophie felt a hand slip into hers, a comforting warmth coming over her, making her gasp in surprise. Her eyes flew open, and her head snapped to the side, meeting the blue eyes almost the same shade as hers, belonging to a man with a buzz cut and slightly big ears, wearing a leather jacket. Sophie breathed, taking in a whiff of his musky scent, as he whispered one word,
"Run."

Sophie, Part 2...
A little bit harder switching this to third than I thought, but in the end, it'll be worth it. :)
