What If?
Storm Had Waited
Disclaimer: I did a read through of the 'X Of Swords' event this morning for the first time and I had this come to me sometime later. I'm not terribly familiar with the relationship between these two and all it entails so I'm going with whatever I've come across online and or read in the event.
Against what Ororo would later feel was her better judgement, the Weather Goddess had decided to be patient and wait for T'Challa to return from whatever mission he was currently on. Her time in Wakanda was wonderful but because of the upcoming challenge created by Saturnyne after the Arakkii had made themselves known, there was a tension that tainted that feeling of wonderful for her. And with the morning of the third day growing closer, Ororo had become rather… Agitated where T'Challa was concerned. I believe I was mistaken in waiting for him to arrive.
The chiming of the door drew the former Queen from her thoughts and she bid whomever was on the other side to enter. Her eyes narrowed when she caught sight of an unmasked T'Challa as he came in and a loud smack sounded through out the room seconds later. The King and Hero looked at his Ex-Wife in shock as he rubbed his stinging cheek. "Your inability to take my proclamations seriously could have very well damned us all, T'Challa. But then again, you never seem to be able to give mine the urgency they are needed." She told him coldly and he winced.
"I am sorry you feel this way, my love, but there were other matters at stake."
"But none more concerning than the threat the Arakkii bring to us all in not only this Reality, but all of them. Take me to Skybreaker, now, for there is no more time to waste."
Thunder rumbled in the sky above, helping showcase her anger towards him and as well as her own feelings about having gone against her better judgement. "Skybreaker is of Wakanda, Ororo, you by now know of its great significance to us. I and my best fighters should be going with you." Argued the man.
Ororo sighed and took a deep breath to calm her anger. "I have not forgotten its importance, T'Challa, I promise. And were it not for the situation at hand and the Prophecies involved, I would not be here for Skybreaker. And as much as I would wish you and yours to join us, you are all needed here in the event we do not win the contest."
"I am not going to be able to sway you, am I?" Asked T'Challa a few seconds later in resignation.
Causing a soft but sad smile to form on Ororo's lips. "No, I am sorry, but no."
Sighing heavily, the man nodded. "Very well… Come, let us go and see to acquiring Skybreaker. But we must be careful to not allow anyone to see it leaving with you."
"I… Did bring a copy of it with me if that works for you?" She asked of him, knowing how he was likely to react.
"ORORO!" Groaned the man as he rubbed his face and she couldn't help but grin.
He shot her a rueful look and thanks to her choosing to wait rather then rush things, the relationship between herself and T'Challa, and ultimately the relationship between Krakoa and Wakanda would not become strained to the point of breaking. Allowing for said relations to continue on good terms and allegiances, especially after Storm became the Regent of Sol following the terraforming of Mars and re-branding it as Arakko for the Arakkii people following the contest.
Author's Notes: That was fun to write. Things were going to be more tense and drama like between the two but then I was just like 'eh' on that.
