As was fully expected. It was taking a while for the family to adjust to their new situation.

The lack of powers, lacking a house that was their own. And of course…. Learning to know Bruno again.

Some things were very familiar to people, at least the older generation, and well… All through Mirabel had been very young when Bruno had gone missing.

There was a familiarity to him that just felt safe and soothing. He felt like her parents, her Tia Pepa and Tio Felix. Which was honestly how Mirabel never had any issue just treating him like any other close family member.

Still…. Ten years was a long time and Bruno had some surprises up his sleeve. Intended or not.

One happened the next morning as the family was walking back towards Casita in a collected group just like before.

They were about halfway there as they heard the sound of a crying child and startled found little seven year old Emilia Cuaves crying and sniffing.

"Emilia!" Camilo gasped as he headed over to the girl he used had sometimes helped to look after. "What's wrong!"

Emilia cried as she pointed up. "Kitty!"

They all looked up, towards one of the houses that were worse for wear after the big cracks, the roof was broken right up and there was a cat, right at the top of the roof at the edge, with big white fur and yellow eyes.

"Fluffy has been gone since the cracks! I finally found him. He has been stuck!" Emilia cried.

Antonio gaped. "That's three days ago now!" he gasped horrified. "Poor kitty! Papa!" he cried grabbing Felix's legs. "We gotta safe Fluffy!"

"I got it," Camillo said as he stood up and then groaned. "I can't transform to help me climb."

"I can't make vines," Isabela muttered sadly.

"I… I'm sorry. I don't know what to do." Luisa gasped. "I…"

She didn't get any further, already a green blur was just scaling the walls at incredible speed and the entire family was just stunned quiet as Bruno's slim figure moved upwards at incredible speed.

It kind of reminded Mirabel of one of his rats that could also climb up walls just like that.

"Brunito!" Alma shouted terrified.

Mirabel blinked. Then realized how this had to look for the family members who hadn't seen Bruno inside of the walls. And had only seen him outside where he would constantly stumble around on the ground. Falling down even more often than her father.

"He can do that?" Isabela asked. "I don't remember him doing that."

"Well…. He liked climbing trees. When we were kids." Pepa stated. "I have never seen him do anything like…" she halted as Bruno was now on the roof itself.

Easily jumping from one loose tile to the other. He ran and jumped to land neatly on a bare support beam. Then balanced himself across until he was right in front of the cat that hissed at him showing its sharp teeth.

And then Bruno crouched down in front of the cat not moving any further.

Camilo blinked. "What is he doing now?" he asked.

Bruno was just sitting still, completely still, not making any movements to even touch or grab for the cat. Instead, his lips seemed to be moving, though they were much too far away to know if he was even saying anything.

Bruno was just sitting there, for at least a solid two minutes, not making any grabs for the cat, while the entire family blinked confused. And then suddenly… The cat just stopped hissing and went to Bruno. He gently picked it up, held it under his arm as he walked back towards the hole in the roof. Looked down… And jumped through the hole into the house itself.

There was stunned quiet as everyone looked up. And then the door opened up right next to them and out came Bruno with the cat, heading straight towards Emilia. "Here you go." he simply said handing the cat over.

Emilia gaped as she looked up at Bruno now taking the cat, cradling him close. "Thank you," she whispered.

"You should probably feed him and give him some water," Bruno said. "Poor thing must be really thirsty and hungry," he said. "Also he was terrified. Who can blame him! He's traumatized. So... Look after him and treat him gently okay?"

And Emilia nodded as she rushed inside now leaving the family just stunned looking at Bruno.

"How did you do that?" Camilo asked.

Bruno blinked and he looked up. "I… Climbed." he pointed out the obvious.

"Yeah but you're old." Camilo pointed out.

Bruno looked at Camilo. "Auch." he commented dryly.

"Didn't I mention?" Mirabel commented. "The place inside of the walls was actually huge!" she informed them. "Like a space between real Casita and your huge magic rooms. And he had patched cracks that were like…. Thirty meters up in the air. Also, the entire place was falling apart so he was navigating himself through without getting hurt. Over all kinds of drops and barriers."

They all turned to Bruno.

"Well erhm… It was kind of like a big labyrinth." Bruno admitted scratching his neck. "And I had to check every day. You never knew when there would be new cracks."

"Weren't you scared?" Antonio asked in a whisper.

"Oh terrified," Bruno replied. "The whole thing looked like it could collapse at any moment for years. But you know. I'm always scared anyway so… If I use being scared as an excuse to not do stuff. I would never do anything! So." he shrugged.

Again everyone was just looking at Bruno.

"A trick I sometimes use though is pretending to be someone else," Bruno admitted. "Cause… Bruno is super scared but these characters are not. So… A bit of character acting I suppose."

There was still just stunned silence as everyone looked at Bruno making Bruno take a startled step back.

"Excuse me." Bruno just said as he turned around and walked away to round a corner and have one of his panic attacks in peace. Something the family had started to figure out that he should just be allowed to deal with. Leave him alone and he would come back when he was done... It was hard for Pepa who wanted to be there every time. But it did seem to work better when they just let him do whatever he needed to do.

"You know," Antonio whispered. "Tio Bruno is really strong… I mean not like Luisa but… Different strong."

Mirabel smiled. "I know what you mean," she said. "And yes he's really strong."

"Of course he is." Alma simply said. "He's a Madrigal. And he's my son!" she stated matter of factly. "And he is Pedro's son!" she added proudly.

Mirabel smiled amused as she shook her head then frowned. "Huh… Maybe that's why he was the one who got the future vision."

Julieta blinked. "What do you mean Mirabel?" she asked.

Mirabel looked at her mother. "He's the only one strong enough to carry it," she said.

There was silence… Stunned silence.

"Well. Ahem." Agustin coughed into his hand. "Then I suppose we need to remember to be thankful that he has been willing to carry the burden for us," he said.

Luisa nodded. "Yeah!" she stated just as Bruno came back out looking a little dazed. But back with them.

Pepa smiled amused as she walked over to her brother and took his arm. "I think that's enough heroing for one day Hermano. Let's just head to Casita already."

And Bruno nodded his head. "Si." and then he stumbled, a complete opposite to how he had acted on the roof.
