Nanettez: Yes, that's right. I tried to change it, but it seems like doesn't show the edit.

Vernon Dursley didn't know many things about magic, but he did know for a fact that it was very unusual for a wizard to be so powerful and have so many abilities. He doubted that his sister-in-law, Lily, was this powerful, nor her husband, James. Vernon snuck a glance at Severus. The snappish and sulky Potions Master was frozen in place, his face wearing an expression of shock and awe.

"Ah…" Griphook forced out after a while. "There is a Horcrux lodged into young Harry."

Petunia and Vernon didn't have the slightest to what this meant, but they knew it wasn't good. Petunia cradled Harry and started to rock him. Severus' Occlumency barriers were about as effective as Muggle armed with a single fleck of dust against Voldemort. If his students spied the poor man now, they would have gaped and convinced it was a prank. After all, it was physically impossible for the biased dungeon bat to suffer an existential crisis…?

Severus' stringy, greasy black hair whirled around with the force of the magic he had unconsciously let out, his aura terrifying Petunia and Vernon. His facial expression had not been as tormented since Halloween evening as he clutched the lifeless body of Lily Potter.

"A H-Horcrux?" The man spluttered.

Griphook nodded grimly. "I will arrange an appointment with our ritual goblins as soon as possible. The date will likely be in two months."

Petunia didn't like the sound of it. "What is a Horse-crux?" she asked worriedly.

Harry started to cry.

"It's a Horcrux, Lady Evans." Griphook corrected Petunia gently. "A horcrux is something that a Dark Wizard makes after committing the highest crime: killing an innocent. The act splits the wizard's soul in half, and a horcrux is an object which contains the soul shard. Even when the dark wizard is killed, he can be resurrected as long as he has at least one horcrux."

Severus took a shuddering, deep breath. "The Dark Lord…"

"Yes, Severus, he is alive, but barely, in hiding, only able to commit physical acts when possessing a living creature or human," Griphook stated, his fingers fluttering over his staff.

They sat in terrified, mournful silence for a while.

"Now, is there anything else I can do for you all?" Griphook broke the silence.

"Yes, actually," Severus said after thinking for a moment. "Could you please give us a copy of the Daily Prophet?"

Griphook shot Severus a strange look, then reached into a knapsack and procured a neatly folded magazine.

"Do you want it for the case of the Potters? It's quite the trend among us goblins, too," Griphook explained while handing Severus the paper.

The Potions Master quickly unfolded the newspaper, his eyes roving hungrily over the contents.

"Read this, Petunia, Vernon," Severus muttered when he was done, passing it to the two worried Dursley parents. "The press are having an absolute field day."

What was printed there made Petunia shudder.

THE POTTERS ARE KILLED! SIRIUS BLACK SCHEDULED TO SERVE A LIFE SENTENCE IN AZKABAN!

By Rita Skeeter

On the evening of October 31st, 1981, something happened that would rock the Wizarding World upside-down. It started with the deaths of James Potter and his muggle-born, one-year wife, Lily Potter (née Evans). The pair and their one-year-old son, who had supposedly gone into hiding a mere week ago, were reportedly killed by the Dark Wizard which has been plaguing our lives, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

James' body was found downstairs, probably in an attempt to hold off He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and to give his wife and son time to flee. His attempt backfired, though, and was found dead, wandless and unarmed. Since there wasn't a mark left on him, we infer that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named used the killing curse on him. The Dark Wizard proceeded upstairs to the nursery, where Lily Potter was.

The body of Lily Potter was found directly in front of her son's crib. The unarmed muggle-born witch had most probably poised herself directly in front of her son in a desperate attempt to protect him. Alas, her attempt resulted in her death, and Lily Potter, too, crumpled to the ground, motionless, killed by the same curse her husband had been subjected to.

Having killed his parents, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named faced young Harry James Potter. At this moment, when He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named lifted his wand and cast a deadly spell at the crying toddler, something miraculous happened. Neighboring witches and wizards reported that they saw a green light flash a third time, and then an agony-filled scream. Inside the nursery, we have found only He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's robes, his physical body vanished. Harry James Potter was in great distress, but seemingly relatively unharmed, only bearing a lightning-shaped, inflamed scar on his forehead from the terrible ordeal.

When Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards, found out about two of his closest and most favorite students' deaths, he sent Rubeus Hagrid to collect the young child. Hagrid was personally appointed by Dumbledore as groundskeeper of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and when the press streamed into the ruined house, he claimed that he was on strict and important orders from the Hogwarts headmaster. "Sorry, I can't 'ave any of you takin' 'way 'Arry," Rubeus announced. "I'm on strict orders from Dumbledore. Great man, 'e is, great man. We'll 'take little 'Arry to a nice 'family, he'll be at 'Ogwarts in ten 'ears." Rubeus then took away the toddler on a magical motorbike.

A couple hours later, I myself had the pleasure of interviewing Albus Dumbledore. The aged wizard appeared to be in deep grief. "My dear Miss Skeeter," he sighed mournfully while sucking on his favorite lemon drops, a popular Muggle sweet. "I am afraid that Sirius Black has betrayed the Potters and is indeed working for [at this moment, the Daily Prophet removed You-Know-Who's real name, which the wise headmaster originally said] He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. You see, Sirius Black ultimately betrayed his two closest friends, since he was their Secret Keeper."

"The Potters were kept under a Fidelius Charm?" I had asked him (to see more about the Fidelius Charm, see pages 4-5).

"Correct," came the succinct answer.

Albus Dumbledore was not available for further questioning, since he left quite hastily to tend to important matters at the Ministry of Magic.

Several hours later, said Sirius Black ran into his old school friend, Peter Pettigrew.

"Lily and James, Sirius, how could you?" Pettigrew cried in anguish.

Now enraged, it is reported that Black cast a Blasting Curse at poor Pettigrew, which ultimately resulted in blasting the entire street, which unfortunately, turned out to be entirely non-magical. In Black's massacre, now dubbed the Black Massacre of London, killed fourteen muggles along with Peter Pettigrew and created chaos, terror, and confusion. (to see more about the Black Massacre of London, see pages 2-3).

"It was terrible," Oscar Amgine, head of the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, the department in the Ministry of Magic that Obliviators fall under, confessed. "Muggles running around, screaming, everywhere. Naturally, they called the Muggle police and called their family and friends. It was hard enough getting everybody to listen to us and subdue them, but it's just as hard to obliviate everybody. We've had to obliviate the Muggle news stations, too, so that leaves us with over five hundred people. We still have about half more to obliviate, and we hired some wizards to patch up the street. It's a complete and utter catastrophe."

Black started laughing maniacally, and continued to cackle, even as Aurors dragged the obviously deranged wizard away. Black confessed along the way to the Ministry of Magic, saying- "I good as well killed James and Lily Potter."

When I asked Bartemius Crouch, head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement about what was Black's fate, he laughed grimly. "That tosser deserves to rot in Azkaban prison. We've all seen the damage and deceit that he caused, there's no need for a trial."

Sirius Black is currently in a Ministry holding cell and awaiting transportation to Azkaban prison.

Before Petunia could verbally attack Sirius Black, Severus stopped her, a strange look on his face.

"Tuney, stop." When Petunia shot Severus a glare, he hastily backtracked. "Hear me out: As much as I hate Black for bullying me throughout all of my Hogwarts years, I refuse to believe that he betrayed his best friend and brother. After escaping from his toxic family, he sought refuge with the Potters, and practically became Potter's brother. I feel like Pettigrew would be the real villain here. He was a cowardly, snivelling, easily-taken-advantage-of fool that was the friend of the two most hated, biggest 'blood traitors'. Sometime in seventh year, Pettigrew started to be missing at random intervals. They were so peculiar, even I noticed. What was even more was that I noticed that the death eaters in my house disappeared for meetings with the Dark Lord at the same time Pettigrew disappeared."

Petunia was about to shout again, but Vernon stopped her.

"Petunia, sweet, what Severus said seems perfectly logical. Anyhow, we need to get to the bottom of this. We can't have a wrongly convicted man in prison, can we?" Vernon said.

Petunia finally calmed herself down, a now fiercely determined look burning in her eyes. "You're right, Vernon, Severus." She turned to Griphook. "Please, bring us all you can find on Sirius Black."
