Note: This is set in Season 10, it's one of my favourite season and i loved the vibe of EO building and their atheistic - they were such little cuties. I have adjusted their ages so they aren't accurate to the season. Olivia is 36 and Elliot is 40 - to avoid any confusion. Elliot is divorced and I wanted to make Elliot's children more grown up (preteens/young adults). EO tis always the end game but i wanted them to be able to start younger.

Obvs don't own any of the SVU characters.

August 2010

Olivia Benson walked into the prescient on a Friday morning and put her belongings down on the desk and took a set. She felt emotionally exhausted today after receiving a particular important letter a few days ago that had been consuming her mind entirely.

"Hey" Said a familiar voice. The voice that had been by her side for the last ten years. Elliot Stabler.

"Hey" Olivia smiled as he handed her a cup of coffee. He knew exactly the way she liked her coffee, black with three packets of sweetener.

"Thank you" she sighed with appreciation as she took a sip and Elliot sat down at his desk directly facing hers. It was always the little things that Elliot would do for Olivia that made her appreciate him. Her knew her all too well.

Olivia opened up the current case file they were working on and got to work. Elliot observed her for a moment, noting that she didn't quite seem herself lately. Something was definitely off. Her little spark that usually illuminated her was dull, he could read her like a book without her saying one word. He wasn't quite sure what was going on with her but knew not to push her, he was just trying his best to be there for her if or when she was ready to talk to him about she will. He frowned at that thought.

"Benson. Stabler. My office, now." Cragen called from his office. The pair stood up from their desks and entered his office. "We've got a lead, i need you two over in Chelsea" he explained and caught them up to speed with the newest suspect and sent the pair out. They had been out all morning and returned a few hours later around lunch time.

"Did you want to grab some lunch out today or order in?" Elliot suggested to Olivia.

"I really don't care El, i'm not that hungry" she replied dryly as she ran her fingers through her hair. It was evident that it had already been a long day for her and it was barely half over. She honestly didn't mean to take her current mood out on Elliot but was feeling quite defeated.

"Let's go" he said handing her purse to her, "You need to eat Liv." She didn't even bother to protest. Elliot got a small win.

They found themselves seated at a booth in a deli a few blocks over that they frequently visited on their lunch breaks. Olivia picked at her food and was half listening to Elliot ramble on about the sports replay on the television over on the wall, he was attempting to make some light conversation over lunch. Olivia remained quiet while her mind was a million miles away.

"Liv, what's going on?" Elliot asked in a low tone "Olivia." slightly louder in an attempted to gain her attention.

"What?" She replied caught out in her own thoughts.

"Where did you go just then? What's going on with you lately?" He questioned with a little more concern in his voice.

"I'm fine." Olivia said with slight annoyance. It was Elliot's second nature be protective of her, yes because she was his partner but also because her cared some much for her. At times he was more protective than she liked, but he was her family.

"Liv.." he said slightly pleading "You can talk to me about anything.." Those big baby blue eyes of his watching her intensely.

"Just drop it, Okay? We need to get back to work." As she stood up and placed some money on the table and headed to the door swiftly. Elliot sighed and followed her as they headed back to the precinct. For the rest of the afternoon Olivia avoided Elliott as she dove back into the case they were working on. By the time it was home time Olivia couldn't get out the building fast enough before Elliot had a chance to catch up with her.

When she arrived home to her empty apartment she kicked off her boots, dropped her keys and bag on the table and grabbed herself a cold beer out of the fridge. She dropped herself onto the couch and stared at the letter sitting in front of her on the coffee table. Olivia was ready to hide away all weekend inside her apartment alone. She sat for a few moments as taking a few sips of beer before picking up the letter she had been watching before picking it up and reading it for the 10th time.

Tears started to well up in her eyes. It was a letter from an adoption agency notify her that her biological daughter wanted to make contact with her.

Hudson University - February 1993

Sitting there on the sink was a white test strip with two bright pink lines staring back at her. "Shit" "was the only word that managed to escape Olivia's mouth as she dropped to the floor of the bathroom in her small dorm room. Suddenly she felt the panic set in as the realisation of what was happening hit her like a ton of bricks. She was pregnant, a baby is what was happening.

Barely nineteen and to a guy she was seeing casually and wasn't even serious about. They always used protection, she wasn't that stupid because it was college after all. What was she supposed to do? Her heart couldn't bring herself to get an abortion but she wasn't in the position to provide for a baby either. Memories of her own childhood came rushing back. Nothing good came to mind. She didn't want to be a mother like her own, she couldn't. Her childhood was clouded with negative memories of a drunk mother, flights, isolation and hurt. All of a sudden she felt like she couldn't breath, her heart was pounding against her chest and couldn't fill her lungs quick enough. It took her a moment to steady her breathing in an attempt to calm herself down.

Olivia couldn't fight back the tears that were stinging her eyes any longer, she pulled her knees up close to body and buried her head in her arms and held herself as the tears began to run down her cheeks. She knew she couldn't keep the baby that was growing inside of her.

Olivia snapped back to reality when she heard a knock at her apartment door. There was another know a few moments later.

"Liv, it's me." Olivia realised it was Elliot as she wiped away her tears to try hide that fact she was just crying.

"Olivia, open up" Elliot called with more concern.

She knew he wasn't going to leave without seeing her. Olivia walked over to the door and unlocked it without even looking at him. Elliot walked it and immediately put down the beer and Chinese take out he had brought with him. He stopped Olivia as she turned away to walk back to where she had been sitting, he swung her body back around to face him and pulled her into his arms. She felt her wet cheeks against the warmth of his body held her. Olivia didn't want to talk but knew she was going to have to tell Elliot what was going on now, he wasn't going to leave her in this state. He held her for a few moments before he guided her to the couch and sat down with her.

"Liv, what's wrong?" he asked as the concern washed over him "Why are you crying sweetheart? What happened?" he became more concerned when she wouldn't give him an answer. He had no idea what could be wrong or what had happened. Olivia broke into a soft sob.

He had caught her of guard and in a vulnerable state. Olivia couldn't manage to bring herself to stop crying, all those emotions she had let build up were finally coming out . Elliot pulled her in close to his body as they sat on the couch and held her. It was breaking his heart to see her like this.

"Please talk to me Liv" he said desperately as he kissed her head.

Olivia didn't realise she was still holding onto the letter that had caused her emotional outburst.

As she sat up and Elliot wiped the tears from her cheeks. She couldn't avoid telling him what was going on any longer. She wasn't exactly in the position the be pushing him away right now knowing how much she really needed him. Olivia handed him the letter and rested her head back onto his chest as her put his arm around her. Elliot began to read the letter, it looked quite formal. She trusted him enough to finally let him in to this piece of her life.

As he read the words on the piece of paper he saw the words 'biological daughter' and it took his mind a minute to process the information until the realisation sunk in. Olivia Benson had a daughter. He loved every single on of his kids with his whole heart and would do anything for them. As a parent he knew the decision she had made for her daughter was not one that would have been the hardest choice to ever make. It made his heart ached for her. He knew Olivia had always been great with kids, she adored them. She could create such a connection with child victims and gain their trust almost instantly. She loved his kids like her own and took any chance she could to hang out with them every since they were introduced to her early on in the partnership. But it a way this all made sense, Olivia would always find a way to avoid the topic of motherhood and settling down with a man. She was a beautiful person and had all this love to give despite the shitty hand life had handed her, but she always kept going.

"Olivia..." he almost whispered and tightened his grip on her. The use of her name almost made her cringe. She still hadn't said anything to him and he wasn't going to force her now. "I'm here Liv, I'm always going to be here." he promised and placed a lingering kiss on her forehead.
