Note: Hi there, I know it's been a wwhhhiiile (I'm so sorry, really... I feel awful and hate myself for that long delay). I had a new job, I moved to another place, and lost a bit of motivation to write (even though I know where to go with this fic, I just hadn't the energy to sit and write... Shame on me, I know). But, yeah... I had COVID (clap clap clap) so I stayed home, got bored and I wrote ! :D (that's the only good point of it haha). Well, enough talk, enjoy this new chap !

CHAPTER 25
« Roller Coaster. »

- May 15, 2039, 1:04 p.m., Gavin's apartment -

Eventually, Gavin woke from his slumber to a ray of sunlight glaring across his face, and he let out a groan as he spun around on the side to protect himself. As he now faced his alarm clock, he jumped up in bed when he saw the time.

"Holy shit! »

He hastily got up and put on his jeans when he suddenly became aware that the smell of grilled bacon filled the room. He then stopped all movement, frowning, and turned to realize that Nines wasn't in bed.

Already suspecting what was going on, Gavin left his room to find his android in the kitchen, dressed simply in boxers and one of his T-Shirts. The one he wore the day before, more precisely.

For a moment, the detective forgot he was late for the precinct and leaned against the wall at the hallway entrance to simply contemplate the scene.

Nines, undressed, was busy cooking bacon and eggs in a frying pan. Gavin couldn't help but smile, and Nines finally turned his head towards him, smiling as well.

"Hello Gavin," he said, approaching the kitchen island to put the meal on the plate sitting right there. "I hope you won't blame me for borrowing your T-shirt and allowing me to use your kitchen, hm..?"

Gavin chuckled before pulling away from the wall and heading towards the island, smiling softly. Of course, it didn't bother him. Damn, Nines was perfect and he was just wearing his T-shirt while he was cooking something to eat. He clearly wasn't going to complain.

If he had to be honest with himself, he was particularly interested in the idea of having this kind of scene every day. Nines living here, feeling comfortable, and Gavin not feeling alone anymore, with someone who would take care of him a bit.

"I guess not," Nines said with a mischievous look as he swept his gaze over Gavin who wasn't wearing any T-shirt at all since he was the one wearing it. "I guess we're even. »

"Hm," Gavin growled softly as he walked around the island to wrap his arms around his android's neck and kiss him tenderly. "I think I'm a winner actually…"

"You will be when you'll eat what I cooked for you," Nines smiled before kissing him again "Slept well.. ?"

This question suddenly reminded Gavin that it was early afternoon, and he pulled away from his lover, growling in frustration, and went to sit down to start eating.

He wanted to bitch and tell him that he could have woken him up earlier in the morning, but he was cut off by the taste of the food in his mouth, and let a moan escape him. He looked up at his lover who looked at him, arching an eyebrow, a smile on the corner of his lips.

" Is there a problem? »

"Hmm..!" Gavin shook his head, eyes closed as he continued to chew, then finally swallowed. " You kidding! My God, Nines, I didn't know you could cook...! »

"Calm down, Captain Overstatement," Nines smiled as he leaned on the island. "It's just bacon and eggs, nothing fancy. Then, I followed a recipe," he said, tapping his LED. "I have no merit. »

"Nt-nt," Gavin shook his head in disapproval, with his fork mimicking the movement. "It's been years since I took the time to cook something so simple and yet so good. So, accept the compliment. You took the time to do it for me, to look into this recipe. So thanks. »

The android gave a shy smile, his cheeks slightly bluish, before pulling away from the island to head for the coffee maker to fill a mug.

Gavin watched him silently and sighed languidly as Nines stopped beside him to give him his coffee.

"You're...perfect..." Gavin sighed, turning to Nines and wrapping his arms around his waist while looking up at him from his stool. "I'm not even mad anymore that you didn't wake me up this morning."

"Captain Fowler texted me early this morning. He told me he didn't want to see you at the precinct today."

Gavin pulled away from him, however not letting go of him, to look at him surprised.

"Collin is not going to do anything today, and you were very affected by the events of the day before. You needed a rest and a break from the investigation. »

" But- "

"Sht." Nines said, putting his index finger to his lips. "First you eat, and then you complain if you want. Or we could go back to bed...you and I…"

The smile and plan Nines offered Gavin didn't leave him unmoved, and he could already feel tighter in his jeans. He passed his tongue over his lips while looking at his lover, the pupils blown wide, driven by desire. Gavin began sliding his hands down Nines' back, under his T-shirt and could feel his synthetic skin peel off under his touch, revealing that soft, smooth, supple texture he knew was carbon-colored.

Nines smile grew wider and he leaned over Gavin to kiss him a little more fervently, letting him know he was very excited to get back in bed together for more privacy too. A faint purr began to vibrate in his chest from the onset of overheating and satisfaction, but Nines straightened up, much to Gavin's regret.

"First you eat... After that, we'll go to the bedroom, alright..?"

"Hmm." Gavin sulked but eventually nodded. "Alright."

"Good…" Nines kissed his forehead before straightening up and pushing away from his lover to take a seat on the other stool next to him. "Is that because I'm wearing just a T-shirt?"

Gavin rolled his eyes but chuckled softly before picking up his fork to eat another bite.

"Probably, but I admit that you play a part in this." Gavin glared at him with desire and a teasing smile. "I've been fantasizing about you for nine months, and now that we're together, I...want to make up for the lost time. Discovering you, get to know you better too. Figuring that all this... is real, you see..? Not really clear… in my mind."

"It's not just in your mind," Nines smiled, leaning on his fist, his elbow resting on the island. "As I explained to you before, I should have worked with you during my activation, and… not having been assigned to the precinct, you were the only tangible element in my life for a while that I observed from afar. My only goal, my only landmark. I saw that you were an extraordinary detective, and I also wanted to prove to you I could be a good vigilante by arresting the bad guys. I was so looking forward to us actually meeting..." Despite their somewhat bittersweet start, Nines smiled. "I don't regret being here today, with you. I can't wait to find out even more about you, and us."

Gavin had stopped eating to listen to everything his lover was telling him, drinking in his words as if they were a spell, giving him a feeling both saving and feverish.

Nines's smile grew brighter, and Gavin felt his heart skip a beat as he realized how handsome he thought he was. He blushed furiously before concentrating on his plate again.

"You seem distracted…"

" You don't say!"

Nines laughed and Gavin felt himself melt in place, the laughter was so genuine and almost crystalline. He was now bubbling with frustration, desire and had this feeling of being overwhelmed by what was coming out of his android. Or at least how he felt about him.

Nines moved from the kitchen island and slipped into the bedroom, and Gavin watched him go, his eyes glued to what was hiding under the t-shirt his android was wearing.

He hurriedly finished his breakfast, or rather his lunch given the time, then got up from the kitchen island to join him in the bedroom. Only, he found no one once inside, but the sound of water coming from the bathroom next door called him.

He hesitated for a few seconds, though he didn't understand why the hesitation briefly froze his body, then walked to the door and put his slightly trembling hand on the handle.

Why was he suddenly nervous? The idea of spending time with Nines had never frightened him until now. Then, if things went further, it wouldn't be the first time either.

Gavin couldn't understand why sudden anguish stroke him. Was it because he'd realized that Nines was more than just a crush? Because he'd behaved desperately the night before? The idea of losing Nines to the virus had shaken him, more than he would have thought. Certainly, he had cried in his arms, but he hadn't been ashamed of it. On the contrary, if there was anyone he could have done it with, it was with Nines.

Nines had told him the day before that he loved him, that he would stay with him forever. It was so childish to believe such a thing so easily. Nothing is eternal, and nothing is guaranteed. Especially not a person.

Suddenly, his hand still on the bathroom handle, Gavin's eyes widened as he realized he'd probably coerced Nines into saying he'd stay with him just to comfort him.

Nines couldn't stay with him forever, it was ridiculous. First, it was childish to believe such a thing, then Gavin was far from the perfect person for long-term relationships. And he had to be honest with himself, Gavin was human, made of flesh and blood, one day or another, he would die. Nines, as long as he wasn't damaged and his bio components could be changed, he could live forever. Gavin was mortal. Talking about eternity between them was really absurd.

Then the tears started to blur his sight slightly at the idea of something much more painful.

Yes, Gavin was mortal, and if Nines had real feelings for him, and he meant what he'd said the day before, that they would be together forever, then Gavin was going to make his android suffer excruciatingly. Gavin will one day have to die, and Nines will always be there to feel the absence, the sorrow, and the mourning. Gavin was condemning him.

He breathed in sharply, not realizing that his throat had tightened and he'd stopped breathing. He recognized he was starting to have a BPD attack. So he closed his eyes, unclenched his jaw, and took a deep breath through his nose to calm himself down, but the tears were burning behind his eyes despite them being closed.

It was already a good start that he became aware of his crisis, he could stop torturing his mind now that he knew it was only his brain playing tricks on him.

But what if it wasn't?

What if it was a real problem?

Tricked brain or not, Gavin remained mortal, and Nines would suffer the day he left if they stayed together long enough.

Although it wasn't just about dying of old age. Gavin knew he got bad injuries multiple times throughout his career, and it certainly wasn't over yet. He could get killed by Collin, for example. But suddenly, reversing the situation hurt him even more. Nines could get killed by Collin too, and Gavin wasn't sure he could deal with that kind of pain. The anguish of the day before, the idea of losing him, resurfaced violently and his fingers tightened powerfully on the handle.

What the hell was wrong with him? Why was he perpetually torturing his mind like this? Dark thoughts were appearing and he was stuck on them as if caught in a spiral that made him lose his mind.

The white noise of running water in the bathroom started to become a deafening hum and his breathing quickened, panic now taking over.

He was good for nothing. He wasn't even able to stop a defective android to protect his city, and especially his lover. He was a poor officer, not fucking doing things right in his job without being insubordinate, without taking warnings from his Captain. He hadn't been able to be there to help Hank through the grief of Cole, despite the years, simply because he'd been too stubborn to understand that he'd been hurt by his death. He'd taken it personally and had decided to return unjustified anger to him, simply because he was afraid of being alone, and abandoned. But in reality, he was the one who had turned his back on Hank when he needed him the most, no wonder he preferred Connor's company to his own. He was no better than a pile of junk that was still enslaved. How ironic. He'd been the less human of the two, and Gavin certainly deserved to be left alone, rejected, and despised.

Maybe he deserved not to be here at all…

The door suddenly swung open, the handle ripping out of his hand, and dampness and heat came out from the room.

Gavin looked up at Nines who was standing right there in the frame, piercing blue eyes set on him.

"I've seen you standing still outside the door for ten minutes, with your breathing and your heartbeat doing the roller coaster." He lifted one of his hands, wet, and took one from Gavin. "You're overthinking…"

"I..." Gavin began his throat tight and completely dry, giving him a hoarse voice. "S-Sorry…"

Gavin let Nines lead him into the bathroom. Maybe he was right, maybe he was thinking too much, and thinking too much led to a BPD attack. What was actually happening, he knew that.

Without adding anything more, his lover helped him to undress, and in a few seconds, he found himself naked in front of him, in the hot steam of the room.

Nines then gently grabbed his hand to silently urge him to follow him into the shower, still running, creating an almost hypnotic white noise.

The hot water on his skin had a sudden healing effect, although he was in the shower for less than a minute. He let out a long sigh of relief, feeling every muscle in his body relax, and he let his head move gently forward, resting his brow against the crook of Nines' neck.

The latter gently put his arms around him to bring him closer to his body, and Gavin let out a soft moan as he felt a wave of shivers run through him at the contact of his android's skin.

Nines then began to gently stroke his flanks with his fingertips, while brushing his lips over his neck and the tense muscle of his trapezius.

"Can I try to get all those bad thoughts out of your mind..?" Nines said softly, lips close to his skin. " You trust me.. ? »

"Of course I trust you," Gavin replied, his voice slightly choked with emotion. "You know you can do whatever you want with me…"

Gavin closed his eyes as Nines began to press several kisses into the crook of his neck, and a long sigh escaped his lips. He suddenly leaned against him to seek more contact and more warmth.

Nines lifted the angle of his jaw, nibbled gently before sliding his lips just below his earlobe. He could feel Gavin shivering against him, and he was sure it wasn't due to the temperature in the room. His whole body reacted to his attentions, and the more his fingers brushed his skin, the fewer Nines resisted the urge to leave reddish marks after his lips passed. Gavin let out a long, loud moan at the exquisite pain of his lover's bites and sucking. This sweet music absolutely didn't leave the android unmoved.

Slowly losing patience, Nines grabbed his lover by the hips, gently digging his fingers into his skin, which would probably leave subtle bruises there later, pressing him firmly against him. Gavin instinctively put his arms around his neck and, finally, Nines snapped his lips between his in a wet and hungry kiss.

Gavin inhaled sharply through his nose, feeling his heart racing as the sudden surge of adrenaline flooded his brain, and he instinctively slid his tongue between Nines' lips.

Within seconds, the temperature took several degrees, and Gavin felt feverish from the sudden burning desire that consumed him. He wanted so much more, there and right now.

He felt like he was back to being a teenager who could barely control his urges.

And as if Nines had been able to read his mind, Gavin suddenly found himself face to face with the tiled wall, turned by a quick and agile gesture of his android.

The cold of the tiles suddenly seized him, this unpleasant feeling mixing immediately with the adrenaline that pulsed in his veins. The contrast wasn't so unpleasant in the end, much to his surprise, but the cold quickly faded with the fire of excitement that covered his own skin and warmed the enamel surface.

The lack of contact with Nines suddenly began to be painful, but the latter then pressed against his back, with his whole body, pressing his hips languidly against his ass. Gavin let out a long moan that echoed through the room, excitedly anticipating what was soon to follow. He put his hands flat against the wall as Nines gently spread his legs apart with one of his, placing his hands on his hips to come to press against him again.

Gavin let his forehead thump against the tiles as he felt Nines's tense member fit perfectly between his cheeks, and it only fanned the fire that already burned ardently inside him.

Gavin wanted to feel it, he wanted Nines to silence all those stray thoughts, he wanted to feel possessed by the android he loved, he wanted to let him take control. Gavin needed it badly.

As he opened his mouth to formulate his request, Nines slipped two fingers between his lips to press them to his tongue. Instinctively, Gavin closed his mouth, moaning deliciously around the intrusion, and began sucking on those two fingers, licking his tongue around them, pressing his hips more tightly against his lover's.

Nines could see the temperature of his bio-components rising visibly in his HUD, and his transdermal micro-receptors were abuzz. They translated each input into an electrical flow which then turned into an explosion of sensations in his artificial neurons.

A moan escaped him as the human bit the pads of his fingers, lost in ecstasy. Nines then left his mouth to slide his fingers against his entrance, and squeezed them gently before disappearing into the warmth of his body. Gavin gasped in surprise and delight at the exquisite sensation, and quickly moved his hips for more friction, biting his bottom lip to keep from moaning out loud.

"You're doing good..." Nines whispered in his ear, and Gavin rolled his eyes as he felt his fingers curl against his prostate. "Restless, but obedient…"

Gavin was already breathless, it was ridiculous what a state Nines could put him in. It was so easy, even maddening, and yet Gavin didn't want it any other way. Absentmindedly, he lifted one of his arms from the wall, slid his hand to his own painfully tense and needy cock, and began to stroke himself. The combo between Nines' fingers and his own hand made him moan and sigh in relief, but no sooner had he started to slowly lose his anchor than Nines withdrew his fingers, leaving that pleasure suddenly suspended and a feeling of emptiness inside his being.

"N-Nines…"

"Shhh..." he growled, coming to press his lips to his ear before gently nipping at it. "I'm not done with you…"

Gavin shivered with pleasure as he felt his android's cock pressing between the curve of his cheeks again before feeling it sink gently inside him. And it was divinely good. Gavin couldn't hold back that long, deep moan, which had been threatening to come out for several minutes already, and which echoed through the steamy room.

This soft music had an electrifying effect on the android, and the static electricity ran through his synthetic skin like a pleasant shiver. His fingers dug into his human's hips as he continued to slide inside him, all the way to the hilt. He then pressed his chest against Gavin's back, put an arm around his body to hold him firmly against him, while leaving his other hand on his hip to begin slow and deep hips movements.

Gavin rolled his eyes, lost in ecstasy and the fire of his desire. This android was going to be his downfall. He knew it, and yet there he was, facing his bathroom wall, taken by Nines. Which was none other than Midnight by the way.

This thought had the effect of a whiplash, already mixing the feelings he felt for the android, with this fantasy he had for months about having an affair with the masked vigilante.

And fuck, how lucky he was to be in this position right now. The thrusts were getting stronger and deeper, his heart was beating fast and his breathing was more and more chaotic. Gavin couldn't hold back the cries and moans at this point, occasionally uttering incoherent words under the pleasure and sustained pace the android was taking on.

His fists came to rest against the tiled wall, the euphoria rising inexorably to grab him by the throat, feeling his whole body burning and shaking, barely able to stand on his legs.

He gasped in surprise as he felt Nines' hand wrap around his cock and stroke him firmly. Gavin squeezed his eyes shut, feeling himself seething and about to go over the edge at any moment.

Nines saw his stress level rise above the critical point, and he had been forced to gasp for several minutes to ventilate himself, his bio-components having reached a rather alarming temperature. His LED flashed solid red as he felt the orgasm blast him, and he couldn't hold back the moans of ecstasy that echoed around the small room. It then clicked, and Gavin came hard between his lover's fingers, moaning outrageously as he clenched around the throbbing cock already inside him.

Both tried to catch their breaths, leaving the cacophony of their lovemaking replaced by these sighs and these deafening heartbeats in their own ears. Then, as if they were reconnecting to reality, the white noise of water once again took place in space. It had been there all along, and yet it had somehow disappeared.

Nines slowly pulled back and gently swung Gavin around so he could face him. The latter was red with effort and pleasure, while the other still had the red LED and this bluish glow on his cheeks. Gavin gently lifted a hand to rest it on the side of Nines' face, still trying to regain normal breathing himself. Nines simply looked at him, also trying to calm down, and moved closer to him to hug and kiss him tenderly.

Gavin exhaled through his nose at the soft, emotional touch before responding with equal delicacy, sliding his lips against his, making their tongues dance together, threading his fingers through the android's hair while closing his eyes to savor this moment.

Nines was intoxicating. And Gavin was addicted.
