The shared bedroom Rod and Laura were sitting in was dark. The only light emitting in the vicinity was from a glowing orb that kept playing the same video of their parents. The video was cheery and full of light, though it was the kids saying goodbye.
"I miss them," Laura sighed. The kids have been gone longer than they've intended to be. Suddenly, Seth and Gabriel walked into the room and the automatic light flickered on.
"Oh, hi Seth. Gabriel. What are you guys going here?" Rod asked as he sat up straighter on his bed. Gabreil then tossed a couple of Alpha Scanners and two familiar cards to the two siblings, a Tyrannosaurus and a Saichainia.
"I got these from Ursula and Ed earlier today," Gabriel said.
"The sooner you get the job done; the sooner you guys can go home. I've asked Gabriel to join you two as his raw talent would be better utilized with you two than the three stooges," Seth replied.
"Just collect all the cards, right?" Rod asked.
"That's the goal," Gabriel replied.
"That's not too hard," Rod said.
"Yeah, that D-Team isn't even a challenge for us!" Laura replied with a smile.
"I've also equipped Gabriel with a new card. It should get you out of trouble if that's where you find yourselves," Seth stated. Gabriel held up a triangular shaped card with Pterodactyls on it to the siblings.
At the Taylor household, Max and Ren were watching television with Chomp and Ebony on their laps. Chomp was contently watching the show with Max and Ebony was asleep. That's when Rex and Zoe walked into the room. Zoe glanced at the TV.
"Oh, you guys are watching a western?" she asked.
"Max is, I'm just here," Ren replied.
"Nothing else good on, huh?" Rex asked Max.
"Shh!" Max hissed in response without turning his focused gaze from the screen. The screen showed two cowboys walking away with their backs turned to each other. There was a close up on one of their faces, then the other.
"First one to cry out loses. Them's the rules of the Wild West," the first cowboy said.
"Draw!" called the other as he pulled out his pistol. Both cowboys fired, and at first it wasn't clear who won the duel. The camera panned up slowly on the second character as he had a smug smirk on his face before toppling over to the ground.
"Oh yeah!" Max cheered jumping up from his seat, successfully pushing Chomp off and waking Ebony up. "They got the bad guy!" Max pulled out his dino holder and aimed it like a pistol. "Them's the rules here in the Wild West." Suddenly, Chomp crawled onto the coffee table and jumped to snatch Max's dino holder from his hand.
"Chomp! That's my dino holder!" Max said now chasing the Triceratops who had taken off with the equipment, leaving the other three chuckling.
"I guess Chomp's not playing by the rules," Rex remarks. Suddenly, a beeping from Max's dino holder in the Triceratops' mouth puts the game of keep away on hold.
"A dinosaur appeared!" Ren exclaimed.
"Yeah, let's go," Zoe added.
The D-Team scrambled into the D-Lab and huddled around the map. Ren traced her finger on the screen to determine where the dinosaur had shown up this time.
"Where's it coming from, Ren?" Max asked.
"Looks like the United States, and more specifically, the state of Oklahoma," she replied.
"Oklahoma, the state of real cowboys! Hiya!" Spike Taylor said, cracking his whip at the air.
"Then I'll need a cowboy hat!" Max jumped and snatched his father's hat right from his head.
"Kids, the Wild West is a dangerous place! I've seen it in movies. Watch out for buffalo stampedes and take this!" Dr. Taylor said tossing his whip to Max.
"Thanks, Dad," the boy replied catching the tool. With that, the D-Team was off on their next adventure.
Upon teleporting into Oklahoma, there seemed to be some sort of festival was going on. The lampposts were decorated with flags and banners and balloons. Booths and stalls were lined up down the sides of the road. Children were scurrying, dragging their parents by their arms from one thing to the next.
"Wow, check it out, a real cowboy!" Max said pointing to someone in a cowboy hat.
"Which one of us is going to tell him that that's just a person in a hat?" Ren asked her brother.
"I ruined his fantasy last time, you do it this time," Rex replied.
"Looks like there's a festival!" Zoe exclaimed.
"Well, whatever it is going on, these people sure don't look like they've just heard that there's a dinosaur on the loose," Rex tells his teammates.
"There looks to be a big crowd gathered over there. Why don't we go check it out?" Ren asked pointing at a large circle of people. The D-Team managed to wedge themselves towards the front of the crowd where a fence separated them from a cowboy staying atop a bucking bronco.
"Howdy there, folks! Welcome to our center ring where brave folk come and try to aboard our wild bronco, Firecracker!" An announcer called over some loudspeakers.
"I can't believe it! A real-life rodeo!" Max stared in awe. The cowboy that was currently riding the steed suddenly crashed to the ground as the horse threw him.
"Ooh! Nice try! Alright, we need a new challenger! Surely there's one more brave cowboy out there!" The announcer said.
"Over here!" A voice called.
"We have one!" A second said.
"Hey, look who it is!" Max said pointing at a familiar pair of siblings.
"It's those kids from the Alpha Gang," Rex answered.
"We sure do admire your courage young ones, but I think you two may be biting off more than you can chew," The announcer told them.
"They're not talking about themselves," A teenage boy said, putting his hand on Rod's shoulder. "See that kid over there in the visor and the cowboy hat? He's the youth rodeo champion from our hometown," Gabriel pointed a finger at the crowd, straight at Max.
"Huh?!" The D-Team all said at once.
"You're saying we got a real rodeo champ in the crowd?" The announcer asks the trio before turning to the crowd. "Who wants to see him take on Firecracker?"
Suddenly, the crowd starts getting riled up, and cheering on Max. The D-Team looks around them in confusion. This isn't happening, is it?
"Come on Max, don't tell me you're a chicken," Rod sneered.
"You have a pet dinosaur, but you're afraid to ride a little horsey?" Laura asked in the same demeaning tone.
"N-No!" Max shot back.
"Bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk!" Gabriel called from across the ring.
"Fine!" Max huffed as he began crawling began the bars of the fence.
"Max, you don't have to do this," Ren tells him.
"Just watch me!" Max growls.
"Max, don't listen to them!" Zoe calls after the brunette.
"We haven't found the dinosaur yet," Rex huffed. "You two, stay here and I'll go look," Rex told the girls. "Come on, Ace."
"Wait, Rex!" Zoe called after him.
"We'll catch up with him later, come on." Ren told Zoe as she began to move around the outskirts of the ring. In the middle of the ring, four cowboys were helping Max onto the raging stallion.
"Are you ready bronco buster?" The announcer asked Max.
"All set!" Max called back.
"I don't think I can watch," Zoe said as she made her way to standing behind Rod and Laura.
"That was a nasty trick, Gabe," Ren told her classmate her crossed arms.
"I bet he lasts two seconds," Rod said with a snicker.
"I bet he lasts one!" Laura chimed in.
"Hey, it's all a part of the fun, Sweetheart," Gabriel replied as he leaned his back over the fence and watched from over his shoulder. "Knock 'em dead, Firecracker!" He called.
"Ready! Set! Go!" The announcer called. The rodeo hands let go of Firecracker and quickly fled from the ring. The horse began thrashing violently. Max held on for dear life.
"That's the way! Ride 'em, Cowboy!" The crowd all cheered in unison. Max kept getting flung about on the back of the horse, that he ended up turning himself around and holding onto the horse's tail.
"Isn't he holding onto the wrong end?" Zoe asked.
"Yeah! This is great!" Laura giggled in response.
"I'll use this!" Max said as he pulled out his father's whip and smacking the horse with it. Firecracker reared up before going crazier than before and jumping the fence with Max still on his back!
"The buster just busted out of the ring!" The announcer called.
"Where are the breaks on this thing?" Max called and the rodeo hands chased after Firecracker with lassos in hand.
"Max!" Zoe called as she ran after the common. Rod and Laura turned to each other with a grin on their faces.
"This just keeps getting better," Rod told his sister before they joined in the chase, eager to see what happens next. Ren glared up at Gabriel.
"You disgust me," She snarled before beginning to run after the trail of people. "Zoe! Wait for me!"
Somewhere nearby, Ursula, Zander, and Ed were riding on some "horses" that were each made up of two Aphra Droids and a cardboard costume as they were making their way towards the same Oklahoma town that the rodeo was taking place.
"Hiya!" Ursula cheered before turning around to Ed and Zander. "See? I told you I'd rustle us up some horses!"
"I guess, but wouldn't there be a faster and more convenient way of travelling? I'm getting saddle sore," Zander complained.
"Riding on horseback is how you get around in the Wild West," Ursula replied with an irritated scowl. "Now keep your eyes peeled for that dinosaur."
Ed put his hand against his eyebrows to block out the sun before he squints his eyes. "I think I see something coming!" He said. The rest of the iconic trio followed Ed's gaze to see that there was indeed something coming. And whatever it was, there was a lot of dirt being kicked up and tossed around, creating a cloud that made it near impossible to detect what was coming their way. Soon, the dust and dirt cleared out enough for the three to see what it was.
"It's a cattle stampede!" Zander exclaimed.
"Makes me hungry for a steak," Ed commented.
"If you idiots could stop thinking about food for one second, you can see that there's a dinosaur chasing them!" Ursula scowled and pointed at the rather large bipedal dinosaur that was chasing the herd of cattle.
"Woah! It's a Saurophaganax!" Zander gasped before scrambling to pull out his Alpha Scanner. "Alpha Slash! Gush out, Spinosaurus!" Blue light spewed out of the Alpha Scanner and it whirled around in front of the trio of goons until Spiny stood in front of them ready to battle.
Rex was in a nearby tower watching from afar. "There's the dinosaur," He told himself.
Spiny charged straight for the Saurophaganax, knocking all the cows in his path out of the way. The Spinosaurus head-butted the fire attributed dinosaur. The Saurophaganax opened up its jaws and clenched them around Spiny's neck before tossing the water dinosaur away from it. The Alpha Gang all reacted in surprise.
"Spiny, get back in there!" Ursula ordered. "Come on, finish him off!"
The Spinosaurus rose to his feet before trying the charge one more time. The Saurophaganax smoothly slid out of the way of the incoming Spinosaurus. Spiny came skidding to a halt and his turned to face his opponent. Just as Spiny was stopping his momentum, the Saurophaganax came in and headbutted Spiny, successfully knocking the Spinosaurus off of his feet. Suddenly, the Saurophaganax pulled his head back as flames began to build up in its maw. Then, it released the fire in one straight beam at Spiny. A powerful move that the trio of Alpha Gang members had never seen in use before. The attack his Spint and pushed him against the ground away from where he landed until he had evenutally turned into a brilliant, blue light and shrank back down into the card.
"That was... new," Ursula gulped.
"What was that move?" Zander asked.
"Magma Blaster," Ed replied in a nervous shock. Zander pulled out a robotic arm from his backpack to retrieve the Spinosaurus card while keeping the moderately safe distance away from the Saurophaganax.
"We'll have to try something else," Zander said.
"But Gabriel took both my and Ursula's Alpha Scanners remember? He said Seth wanted to do some upgrades or something. And without them or Gabriel, we're practically useless," Ed told the tallest member of their trio.
A shadow soon loomed over the Alpha Gang. The three of them looked up to see the terror that was the Saurophaganax towering over them. They all shrieked before rushing away to safety on their Alpha Droid horses.
"Help!" Max called from the back of Firecracker as the bucking bronco sent civilians in the streets scattering in all directions. Rex, who had just made his way back into the town from watching the Alpha Gang get defeated by the Saurophaganax, froze as he saw his best friend clinging onto a horse for dear life as it tried to throw the brunette off of it.
"Slow down!" Max called to the horse and the rodeo hands desperately threw their lassos in an attempt to catch Firecracker, but to no avail.
"Max, what are you doing?" Rex asked his friend. "Jump off!"
"How am I supposed to do that?" Max asked, now holding onto nothing but the reigns. Suddenly, Firecracker stopped, sending Max flying forwards and crashing into the ground. Max looked up just in time to see that same stampede of cattle rushing into the town. The boy jumped to his feet and rushed to the sidewalk and dipped into an alleyway just in time to narrowly avoid being run over by the herd of cattle.
"I wonder what they're running from," Max thought allowed. His thoughts were quickly distracted by a roar. The boy turned his attention to the source of the fearsome cry to see the Saurophaganax. "It's the dinosaur!"
As the stampede finished running through the street, Max creeped out of the alleyway rubbing his lower back. "Man, I'm sore," he commented.
"Are you ok, Max?" Rex asked joining the brunette on the sidewalk. Just then, Zoe and Ren appeared and reunited with their team.
"What was that?" Zoe asked. "An Allosaurus?"
"That was bigger than an Allosaurus," Ren commented.
"I think that was a Saurophaganax," Rex theorized.
"Well, if it isn't the rodeo champion," said Rod, appearing with his sister and Gabriel next to the D-Team.
"You won't win many competitions that way!" Laura teased.
"Yeah? Well, just you wait! I'll get you back for that!" Max retorted.
"Sorry, squirt. We gotta run. There's a dinosaur to catch," Gabriel told Max.
"We do need to hurry if we plan on rounding up all 36 dinosaur cards," Rod added.
"There's 36 cards?" Rex asked.
"Wait a minute. How do you know that?" Zoe asked.
"I guess only the real dinosaur experts know that," Laura shrugged.
"And so, as you can see, we're quite busy. See ya!" Gabriel said as the Alpha Gang B team turned and began to walk away.
"Wait hold on! You get back here!" Max yelled at the younger trio of the Alpha Gang. However, the three were gone before the D-Team could do much about it. Max suddenly began looking around by his ankles. "Wait, where's Chomp?"
"I haven't seen him in a while," Rex said.
"Neither have I," Ren added.
"Now that you mention it, I haven't either," Zoe commented.
"Hey Chomp!" Max called out for the Triceratops.
Ursula, Zander, and Ed were trudging defeatedly as they sulked over the loss of the chance to get the Saurophaganax card.
"I can't believe we lost that battle," Ursula sighed.
"Yeah, let's go get a steak," Ed told the group, at least trying to bring the spirits of their motley crew up by a little bit. Suddenly, the Alpha Gang A team's interests were peaked as they came across a crowd up people dancing.
"Ursula, what do you think's going on here?" Zander asked the green-haired member of the trio.
"Of course! We're in Oklahoma and it is famous for square dancing!" She said with excitement. "Oh, swing your partner round and round, but not too fast or you'll hit the ground! Yee haw!" She said as she started dancing in place. A man sporting a blue bandana walked up to Ursula and help his hand out to her.
"Ma'am, may I have the honor of dancin' with you?" He asked in a thick country accent, accompanied by a wink and a toothy, flashy smile.
"Oh, me?" Ursula questioned softly, almost unsure at first until she realized that a man was asking her to dance with him. "Oh yes! Of course." Ursula took the man's hand and they walked out to where the rest of the people were dancing. "You boys should dance too," she told Zander and Ed from over her shoulder.
"Oh, I would, but I haven't danced since high school," Zander told her.
"Me neither. Darn," Ed chimed in with an anxious smile.
"Oh, come on city slickers, if you can count to four you can dance!" Ursula said while square dancing with her partner. "You can count to four, right?"
"Alright, we can try it, I guess," Zander said. He and Ed jumped into the dancing just as a line dance was beginning with all the dance couples involved. "Wow, I have forgotten just how much fun dancing can be. I used to love it until Deborah stood me up at the prom."
"I took her," Ed said, not even thinking about what he was saying with a bright smile on his face.
Zander gasped in horror. "She said she had to take care of her Aunt Edna,"
"Only Deborah gets to call me Edna," Ed told Zander.
Ursula pushed the two of them away when she and her dancing partner moved into them. "Go somewhere else if you're gonna fight."
Ed and Zander began dancing together in another part of the dance floor.
"If it makes you feel better, she walked out on my halfway through," Ed told his best friend.
"Actually, it doesn't make me feel better," Zander replied.
"Yeah, me neither," Ed added before both boys started crying over their lost love. Suddenly, a cloud of dust and dirt was coming towards where the people were all dancing. A herd of cattle being the cause of it.
"Is that the same herd of cattle?" Ursula asked with an unamused face as everyone besides the Alpha Gang began running.
"If it is, then you know what that means!" Ed exclaimed.
"The dinosaur's back!" Zander whimpered. The Saurophaganax was indeed chasing the herd of cattle, but it was more focused on trying to get a certain orange Triceratops from off of its back. At some point, Chomp has wandered away from Max and jumped onto the back of the Saurophaganax to try riding it like how Max rode the horse. At this same moment, the D-Team came running in behind the Saurophaganax.
"Max, look! Up there!" Ren said pointing her finger at Chomp clinging onto the back of the Saurophaganax.
"Chomp, what do you think you're doing?" Max asked.
"I think he's copying what he saw you do, Max!" Zoe said.
"Like at the rodeo?" Max asked alarmed.
"But why is Saurophaganax going after that herd?" Rex asked.
"Maybe it thinks it's a cow too!" Max shot out an idea.
"Or like, you know, the cattle are food. But yeah, sure it thinks it's a cow too. Way to use your head, Tri-Horns," Ren said sarcastically. Suddenly, the Saurophaganax flung Chomp from off of its back. Max raced in order to catch Chomp in his arms.
"Chomp!" He cheered as his pulled the Triceratops in close. "No more bronco busting for you, okay?" With that, the Saurophaganax was off again chasing the cattle. "Let's go," Max told the team. The rest of the D-Team nodded.
"That's the dinosaur alright. Now what?" Zander asked as the Saurophaganax was chasing practically straight for them.
"What do you think? We send out Terry to fight that thing!" Ursula ordered Zander.
"We don't have Terry!" Zander defended.
"Alright, then send out Tank!" Ursula scowled turning to Ed.
"We don't have Tank!" Ed said worriedly.
"Gabriel took them, don't you remember?" Zander asked Ursula.
"Then call out Spiny again!" Ursula demanded.
"No Ursula!" Zander said.
"He's so worn out from the last fight, he can't move," Ed told her.
Ursula groaned. "For once can't something go right?"
"Not when you're so good at being wrong," a familiar younger male voice told Ursula. The Alpha Gang turned and there stood the second team of Rod, Laura, and Gabriel.
"What are you three doing here?" Ed asked.
"Well, someone had to come get Grandpa's dinosaur," Laura told them.
"That's what we're doing! Gabriel, I thought you were helping Seth today," Ursula scowled at the usual fourth member of their quartet.
Gabriel shrugged. "I am. He asked me to help Rod and Laura. Which I gotta say, so far, they're doing a far better job than any of you ever did. I think I'll stick with them for a while."
Ursula was fuming. "Fine. I'll just catch it myself."
Ursula pulled out a rope from her back pocket that she must've just had with her the entire time and swung it over her head a couple of times. The leader of the main trio took aim for the dinosaur and threw the rope that was fashioned into a lasso in hopes of roping the dinosaur. Well, she roped something, but it wasn't the dinosaur. It was one of the cattle.
"Uh oh," Ursula said softly. The rope in her hand was getting shorter as the cow got further. Desperately, all three members of the primary team lunged for the rope, then were soon getting pulled away by the herd.
"You guys have fun with that! We'll just be actually catching the dinosaur," Gabriel called after his former teammates. As the Alpha Team got drug along the ground, they passed by the D-Team.
"Hey look, it's the old lady," Zoe said pointing them out.
"I heard that, I'm not old!" Ursula called after the pink-haired member of the D-Team.
"There's no way I'm going to let them get away with that Saurophaganx," Max scowled.
"I don't think you're going to have to worry about those three," Ren told Max.
"Yeah, it looks like they've got their hands full at the moment," Zoe added.
"Then this is the best chance we got to get that card ourselves!" Max said full of determination.
"Hold on there, Cowboy," Rod told Max. "Since we both want that dinosaur and we're here in the Wild West, how about you and me settle this with a dinosaur showdown, huh?"
"Showdown?" The D-Team asked, all in unison.
"Yeah! Showdown! Do it! Do it! Do it!" Laura cheered.
"Hold on, what are you talking about?" Zoe asked.
"We don't have time for this," Rex huffed.
"If you're not up for it, we'll just go take that dinosaur," Gabriel said.
"Not if we get it first!" Ren shot back.
"Stop!" Max hollered. He grabbed the rim of his cowboy hat. "I'll tangle with ya, Rod. All right! Let's do this! Showdown time!" Max said with a bright smile on his face. The D-Team watched him and the secondary Alpha Gang trio walk towards the Saurophaganax for their duel.
"He's been watching too many westerns," Rex sighed.
"Yup," Both Ren and Zoe added unamused.
Max stood in front of the Saurophaganax with Chomp still in his tiny form by his side. The brunette pointed his dino holder at the Saurophaganax and in a country accent he said, "The first one to cry out loses." The D-Team member then turned Chomp it a card and ran it through the slot on his dino holder.
"Dino slash! Go, Triceratops! ROAR!" He hollered, still maintaining his country accent. Chomp landed in his full-sized attack mode facing the Saurophaganax. Soon, the two dinosaurs turned away from each other and began pacing away.
"Wow! This is just like being in a real life western!" Laura cheered with enthusiasm in her eyes. Gabriel was leaning against the building they were in front of.
"A western with dinosaurs. That's kinda different," he commented.
"When you're ready, draw!" Max called. Chomp reared up ready to attack. "Wait, they should draw first." Max told himself watching Chomp get ready to fight.
"Now, Max!" Rex called from the sidelines. Max held up his dino holder and all of his move cards fanned out of it from the top. A mystical, yellow light began emanating from the handheld device. It selected the move card that Max had in mind and the brunette grabbed it out of midair and slashed it in his dino holder.
"Lightning Strike!" Yellow light surrounded Chomp as the energy for the attack built up. Suddenly, the Saurophaganax bent its head backwards as it built up energy for its Magma Blaster move and shot it at Chomp. However, the Triceratops was able to dodge out of the way of the incoming fire attack and shoot back with its own electric attack. The Saurophaganax also managed to dodge Chomp's attack and both dinosaurs stood there staring at the other anticipating the next move. Suddenly, Chomp collapsed onto his side.
"Get up," Max said softly. The Saurophaganax took this opportunity to charge at the downed Triceratops as Chomp pushed himself to get back onto his feet. The Saurophaganax went in for a headbutt right as Chomp was able to support his own weight and the two dinosaurs locked heads. Chomp's upper to horns on the outside of wither side of the Saurophaganax's head. Chomp broke away from the head lock first, but the Saurophaganax was quick to turn around and smack Chomp with its tail.
"He can't take much more of this!" Zoe said.
"Then I'll just send out Ebony!" Ren scowled reaching for her stone.
"No! We may need her later!" Rex told his sister.
"Come on, Chomp! Do it!" Max encouraged. Chomp was smacked in the face again by the Saurophaganax's tail before charging in with his head lowered. Chomp used his advantage of being a Triceratops and used his horns to flip over the larger dinosaur.
"That's the way, Chomp!" Max cheered. The Saurophaganax crawled slowly back up onto his two feet.
"I think we've worn it down enough," Rod said.
"Then it's time," Gabriel said.
"Right!" Laura chimed in.
"Alpha Slash!" The trio called as the held their Alpha Scanners and respective cards in hand.
"Capture is on! Olorotitian, let's mow these weeds!" Gabriel called.
"Blaze, Tyrannosaurus!" Rod said.
"Shake them up, Saichainia!" Laura cheered.
"Let's go, Odis!" Gabriel said.
"Attack, Terry!" Rod commanded.
"Mash them, Tank!" Laura joined in. All three of the Alpha Gang dinosaurs attacked the Saurophaganax from behind. The dinosaur went and crashed face-first into the ground. The D-Team turned towards them.
"I see what's going on here! All this time you were just weakening Saurophaganax so you could finish him off!" Rex growled.
"Wasn't it obvious? About time," Rod shrugged.
"You're a bit slow," Laura added.
"You four are dumber than I thought you were," Gabriel sneered.
"Can I call Ebony now?" Ren asked.
"Be my guest. Let's help Chomp out," her brother replied. Rex, Ren, and Zoe pulled out their dinosaur holders and stone respectively.
"Dino swipe! Stegosaurus, let's rock and roll!" Ren said, swiping Ebony's card over the surface of the stone.
"Dino slash! Carnotaurus, blow them away!" Rex called, slashing Ace's card into the slot in the dino holder.
"Dino slash! Spring up, Parasaurolophus!" Zoe hollered, slashing Paris' called into the slot in her dino holder. All three D-Team members already had one of their move cards ready to go as soon as their dinosaurs were out on the battle field.
"Come on, Ebony! Spike Arrows!" said Ren.
"Let's go, Cyclone!" said Rex.
"Metal Wing!" said Zoe.
"Let's give this a shot! Pterodactyl Peril!" Gabriel called out as he slashed the triagnular shaped card on his Alpha Scanner. Similar to how Metal Wing normally works, three Pterodactyls came zooming out of the sky and hit Ebony, Ace, and Paris, effectively cancelling out their move cards.
"They're blocking our move cards somehow!" Ren growled.
"Come on, Terry! Finish them off with Volcano Burst!" Rod called as he slashed the move card on his Alpha Scanner. The Saurophaganax was hit by the move and reduced to nothing but its card and its move card.
"Those cards are mine!" Max said rushing out to grab the cards. The three kids of the Alpha Gang snapped and three hover scooters appeared and they hopped onto them. They zoomed by, Rod picking up the Saurophaganax card, and Laura picking up the Magma Blaster move card.
"It's been nice battlin' with a pardners!" Gabriel did a two-finger salute to the D-Team. He called Odis back to his card, and the Pterodactyls soon followed. "This new card from Seth cam in handy after all." Rod and Laura called Terry and Tank back into their cards as they zoomed off and out of sight. Not long after they disappeared from view, an Alpha Gang ship rose into the air and flew off.
The D-team called their dinosaurs back into their cards as they watched the ship disappear into the distance with disappointment.
"They got Saurophaganax! How did we ever let that happen?" Max asked.
"You let that happen, Max!" Rex got into his friend's face.
"Yeah! They wouldn't have gotten that card with you wouldn't have let them trick you into that silly showdown!" Zoe added.
"Think before you act next time, Max!" Ren added further.
"Well. we did find out that there are 36 dinosaur cards and I learned that I can't ride a bucking bronco, so the day's not a total loss," Max tried to defend himself.
"Look here Max. Now that the Alpha Gang's got that card, they're likely to try all kinds of weird experiments on that poor Saurophaganax and you know it!" Rex disciplined further.
"It's already bad enough with them using pure technology to summon their dinosaurs, and not the proper stones, but you saw that Pterodactyl card. It was triangular shaped, meaning they've experimented on it and now it can block our move cards. They're going to do the same with that Saurophaganax or worse!" Ren said, clearly heated.
"We could have been able to save that dinosaur, you know!" Zoe added more salt to injury.
"Right! We will save it!" Max growled.
"Both the dinosaur and the Magma Blaster move card. Very impressive," Seth told Rod, Laura, and Gabriel.
"We had a blast carrying out this assignment. Can we do another one?" Rod asked with excitement.
"Consider it, Seth. I'd rather work with these two than those other buffoons any day. They're quite smart in their plans, too," Gabriel told Seth.
"Not to worry, Gabriel. I was already counting on it. Very soon," Seth replied.
