Chapter 1: First Issue

It's been more than a week since the Valentine's Day incident, days after Youngblood's attack, and, for all its craziness, there was one thing that made it all worth it.

What Danny Fenton and Star Strong have is true love.

Real, true love that was proven when he risked everything to save her from being cursed by the Ghost Writer.

It meant the world to her that the first boy she's ever loved loves her back. She felt relieved, even a bit ecstatic, that what they have was special not just to her but him as well.

''Oh Danny..." Star sighed as she knew that he was her true love.

It meant no girl could steal him from her. Not Manson, or Valerie, or Paulina, or Ember, or Kitty if she was being serious, and especially not Colette.

She really did sink new lows… She thought angrily, recalling the stunt she pulled on Valentine's day.

Even though she can't remember all of what she did, it still upset her.

"She should be glad I can't see her right now, I'd deck her." She said to herself.

Thankfully, she's still grounded, which means she can interfere with their weekend plans.

At least Mom grounded her again… She thought.

Star felt a bit of relief as she got on the computer to see what movies are playing this weekend for them to watch. When something caught her eye.

"Whoa… really?" She asked, reading the new article. "I better tell Danny!"

At Fenton Works

Danny was on the computer, chatting online with his friends.

''I can't believe we lost at Doomed again..." Danny muttered.

"This is what happens when you shirk off on gaming." Sam said with a smile.

"Seriously, how do you have the time?" Tucker asked.

"It helps when your best friends are either dating or trying to get a date, you have more time yourself. I'm not completely complaining, since it means I can school you two." She said with a mocking smile.

Danny and Tucker groaned before they began talking on other topics.

"So… how's the relationship so far?" Tucker went, sounding bummed.

Danny felt a bit of apprehension.

"Tucker, are you still-"

"Nah… I'm over it. It's obvious Star fell for you. Why not me is going to be a mystery." Tucker went, sounding a bit narcissistic.

Danny chuckled.

"Well, I'm sure we'll all be scratching our heads on that." He went before noticing something amiss with Sam's window. "Uh, Sam?"

"Yes?" She went through her teeth.

"Is there something wrong? Your screen is shaking like it's on the high wire act." He said.

Sam's screen was indeed shaking, as she was clinging to the table her computer was on to try and calm herself and remind that she should be happy for Danny.

"Oh... yeah. Yeah, it's been doing that." She lied as she let go.

''You should have it checked out..." Danny said, being clueless.

"I guess so." Sam said.

That's when a ping happened. Danny saw who wanted to join the chat.

"Oh, hang on, it's Star." Danny said as he let his beloved in. "Hey Starlight."

Star smiled seeing him.

"Hi, Danny-Boo!" She went happily before becoming calm and more dignified. "Sam, Tucker."

"Hey…" They went, sounding friendly for Danny's sake.

"What's up?" Danny asks.

"Fantastic news! That indie comic about you? It's being released in a master collection, all 52 issues in one book. There's going to be a release tomorrow, wanna go after school?"

To her surprise, no one seemed excited.

"Uh, Star? I never approved of that book." Danny said.

Star's smile dropped.

"Huh?"

''Yeah, it was made without his consent… or me to nab some of that money." Tucker said, sounding bitter.

"I didn't know about that comic until that one time Freakshow made us do a cross-country scavenger hunt." Danny explained further.

"Yeah, even then, Danny's age and his secret identity are the only things keeping us from suing the pants off these people." Sam said with arms crossed.

Star blinked upon hearing that.

"Really? I mean, if you decide to go public, my dad might help with that. But still, don't be too harsh, it did make the top 10 sales for indie comics and top 20 for comic sales last year in its first issue." Star said.

That caught the interest of a certain tech geek.

"Really?!" Tucker went, sounding intrigued.

"Definitely, 100,000 copies sold for each issue. Volume II is already being released right now." star explained.

"And… you know this how?" Sam asks.

Star's eyes darted around before an answer came to her.

"Internet?" She said with an innocent smile.

Sam studied the look on her face before shrugging.

"I figured as much. Still, these people need to know the real Danny Phantom. The comic gives an unrealistic depiction of his life." She responded.

"You live in a town full of ghosts and this comic seems unrealistic?" Star asked.

"I mean… relatively realistic." Sam explained.

"Sorry Star. But I don't think the comic I didn't approve of is really all that. I might get upset about what facts they got about me wrong." Danny said.

Star thought about it and conceded. She knew some elements they'd probably make fun of that she actually enjoyed.

"Heh… I guess so." Star went.

"Anyway, with Star here, I guess we should discuss something else, namely about who should be second-in-command of the team." Sam went.

"Danny! Time for dinner!" Maddie was heard calling from downstairs.

"Oh… we'll have to talk later, I gotta go." Danny said before hanging up the call.

With him gone, it was just the three.

"Well, it's just us then." Sam said.

"Actually… I gotta go too." Tucker said with an oddly eager look on his face before logging off as well.

With the girls left, there was an awkward silence between them for a moment.

"So…" Star went.

"Uh… see you tomorrow." Sam responded.

"Right…" Star agreed.

With that, they ended the call. However, Star wasn't done on the computer.

She went back to the page on the comic's collection release and saw the cover of the book.

The cover of Danny fighting in the air with a tall woman in black and green with a web cape, a purple staff and a spider-like addition to her head.

"Sam's not wrong. With ghosts like Ember or Spectra, Misery Vex wouldn't last against them. Now… let's see if I still have the receipt for my preorder…" She said to herself.

Meanwhile

Tucker was doing some quick research on comics, namely the Indie scene.

Dang… his comic made that much? Tucker thought.

Marveling over the amount of profit as he kept reading, he couldn't help but envy the people behind the comic. It was then an idea sprung.

"Wait… if Danny could get a comic worth that much… what about one I personally was involved with?" He said, smiling to himself. "In fact, I'll be the writer, editor, pencilist, inkist and everything, save myself the trouble of hiring, after all. Now, let's see about printing and overnight shipping…" He said as he started typing away.

Grinning a mile wide, his eagerness to make millions grew as he had an idea on hand for his own comic.

Elsewhere

A truck pulled up at the local comic shop.

Two men got out of the truck as they walked to the back, opening it. The two men had an almost zombie-like look on their faces, their uniforms were clean though the hats seemed improperly placed as though there was something underneath.

"You two! Carry them out!" A voice inside the truck shouted.

"Yes, Mistress…" They said in unison as they picked up a large box of comics.

"Careful..." One worker said in a dazed state as they nearly dropped the box.

"Must not disappoint the mistress…" The other one said as he was able to

As they unload, the one figure in the truck shouted at them.

"Do not stop until they're all out of here, man-things!" A domineering, deep female voice called out to them from the truck.

"Yes, Mistress…" The two said.

In the dark, there were five silhouettes. One a tall figure with a familiar headdress, a mantis-like being, a short figure with a clown hat, a hovering figure looking like a mist, and a more human looking figure and long hair.

"What shall we do now, Mistress?" The short figure asks.

"Simple, you tiny idiot… steal as much ink as you must from this town, as you have from the other towns we've been ransacking from. We must not run out!" She commanded.

"What are we to do if he finds us?" The more human-like figure said, sounding almost interested.

"Test what he can do… then we will determine how and when we make our move." She said.

"Of course, Mistress…" All four of them went.

"And do not disappoint. We must be ready for when the real Danny Phantom arrives…" She stuck her head out of the shadows as she glared out into the sky, revealing a familiar figure from the cover. "So says I… Misery Vex!"

The next side story is here, with thanks to Flower princess11.

And yes, you read that correctly, Misery Vex. This story, partially based on the Extreme Ghostbusters episode "Deadliners", will feature the in-universe Danny Phantom comic featured in "Reality Trip", will use the characters made in the YouTube videos as the villains of said comic. I asked BeConFuzzled Writer, who featured Rebreather in his own stories, and so long as I make no money off this, it's okay.

There will be more soon.
