So. Here we have a pretty short but brief to the point introduction of the main characters of this story.
Inuyasha is maybe the most psychotic patient of the ward. He can be very dangerous when he feels threatened, extremely irritated or having scary hallucinations. But most of the time he is calm, withdrawn and quiet. In fact, he basically doesn't speak at all. It's not that he CAN'T speak – he lets out a few words a year, so he CAN, but just simply doesn't speak. He has his delusions and hallucinations, in which he can't recognise people around him, hears voices and sees things. Inuyasha is a good-natured kid from the inside, especially towards his personal nurse Mitsuhiro, and of course, his father. Those two are the only people he lets to hug and pet him, and lets to hug. Inuyasha is not a forensic patient – he has never severely hurt anyone or done any kind of a crime.
Kagome was a very normal kid. She had a lot of good friends at kindergarten. She was everyone's friend. But in the middle of elementary school she gained a bit weight- which led her getting bullied. Kagome tried to deal with it, but when she started junior high, she couldn't take it anymore, and started dieting. First it went well, then it got out of hand. She lost about half of her body weight in half a year (65 kg to 33kg). But that was not the only thing that happened. She got kind of an another personality. The real Kagome was quiet, shy and kind, but this other Kagome shouted, cursed, spat at the nurses and doctors and attacked them with all ways possible. Kagome also cuts her arms every time possible, and, if she has a naso-gastric tube, she sometimes rips if off.
Miroku seems to be maybe the easiest patient of the ward K10-3. He is calm, intelligent, happy and sympathetic. He has his own strange delusions, but that is not the problem he is here. He pushed three men off a bridge because he was hallucinating, thinking they were demons. He has been on strong medication for years, so his delusions have mostly stopped – or that's what the nurses and doctors think. Miroku's mind is a big mess. He hears voices daily and is so convinced there is a black hole in his right arm that he won't take the wrist warmer off his arm, not even in the shower. He has attempted suicide lots of times in his life, but always survived barely.
Sango's story is maybe the saddest on K10-3. She has always been a kind-hearted girl, and, like Kagome, everyone's friend. But at 17 years of age, she fell in psychosis. Her parents took her to a youth psychiatrist. First she visited the polyclinic, until they put her in a youth ward. She went there many times, until she turned 18, and she had to be moved to an adult ward. But the doctors were not careful enough there. They signed her off... and that's when horrible things happened. Sango was controlled by her hallucinations, leading her to kill her whole family. She was put straight to K10-3. First, she was so psychotic she couldn't even understand what she had done. But when she 'woke up' from it, she started hating herself, starting to attempt suicides. But Miroku has brought some light to her life.
Koga is Inuyasha's friend, the two being the only non-humans in the ward, and even both canine. Like Inuyasha, he is maybe a bit 'left behind', acting a lot like a teen, cursing, throwing tantrums and being simply arrogant. But he is very protective towards his friends, and when it comes to Inuyasha, he treats him like anyone else – talks to him normally, invites him for playing videogames and such... His past has been very traumatic. He was molested by his narcomanic parents – they stripped him and filmed pornografic of him. He fled and grew up in a orphanage. Until one day he wanted to avenge his parents, runs away from the orphanage, gets himself a gun, and shoots them. This is why he is at K10-3.
Jakotsu. He is the most disturbed patient of all time, maybe even in the whole Kuroshima hospital. He is gay, deeply sadistic and masochistic pervert, who enjoys nothing more than causing pain and grieve to other people, mostly men. He gropes all the men in the ward, has tried to rape Inuyasha, and almost killed Mitsuhiro with a knife. But he alse enjoys pain in himself. There is no way to make him feel bad. He doesn't mind being hated by everyone. But if you hadn't got to know Jakotsu, you'd think he's a nice happy-go-lucky guy, but this is absolutely not the case. He has no future waiting for him outside the hospital.
Mitsuhiro is Inuyasha's personal nurse. Sometimes he is called 'the bear nurse', because he is big and sturdy, and his hair is brown. He is a very sympathetic person, but he actually can snarl and shout out something mean from pretty small offenses. But as fast as he can get angry, just as fast he calms down. He is nice and kind-hearted, especially towards his own patient Inuyasha. Mitsuhiro is not an angel – just a normal, adult man, who wears leather jackets, rides on motor bikes, and drinks beer. He lives in a small apartment downtown with a pet guinea pig Alvin. Mitsuhiro is maybe the richest nurse of the ward K10-3, as he works many more shifts than others, since he always stays by Inuyasha's side when he's strapped in bed, which is not rare. He is very committed in caring for Inuyasha.
Kaede is a very strict, but also gentle old woman nurse, Kagome's personal nurse. She makes it clear to the patients that she's in charge. She is very sweet when she's in good mood, but not when she gets angry. She has earned all the patients' trust.
