Amor Vincit Omnia (Latin) = Love Conquer All

31. Amor Vincit Omnia

There're no sentences that can be submitted while Neo, Trinity, and Enigma look at each other, feel the comfort and warmth as the family are hugging each other after 60 long years.

"You think this is over?" Their eyes catch the Analyst, holding Deja Vu. "Lockdown. Initiate swarm."

Again, Smith makes a shocking action. This time by shooting the Analyst down as he disintegrates. After a brief, he stares at the family. "Here, our unexpected alliance ends," he declared, throws the gun away. "You know the difference between us, Tom? Anyone could have been you," he nods to Enigma. "Whereas I've always been anyone."

He takes a sunglasses, disappears as the barista, Skroce, blinks, confused. "What just happened?"

"Long story," Enigma blurted, frowns, sensing something's change inside the Matrix.

"What is it?" Trinity asked, spotting her sudden change.

"Move! Move! Get the hell out of there!" Seq shouted in panic.

They all rush outside and find lots and lots of bots awaiting them, like a swarm. Enigma gulps, recalling a similar situation back with Smiths.

"How bad?" Lexy asked.

"Like, all the bad."

"Yeah, this is bad," Sheperd agreed, glances Neo. "I don't suppose you can still fly?"

Neo looks above, stares at Trinity and Enigma for permission. They nod. He gestures Sheperd to steps aside as he tries... and fail miserably. "Yeah, that's not happening."

Disappointing, but at the same time, understandable. 60 years have passed since she and Neo used their ability. Not to mention they had only woken up in less than 72 hours. There's no way Neo can use all of The One's abilities like he used to. Enigma alone takes a long time to master those new skills. And who knows, maybe that bastard put something on Neo and Enigma with those damn pills, hindering their power.

Quickly, Trinity pulls Enigma out of her reverie and took her to her Ducati that parked not far from Simulatte. "Come on," she told her to hop in. She starts the engine and immediately skids across a corner, knocking some people from Neo. "Neo, get on!"

Neo quickly gets on the Ducati behind Enigma as they move away while others help them to escape. While this happens, Enigma slowly notices the signature green color filter slowly returns. Her heart beats with the chaos in their surrounding. She had seen crazy things in Matrix, but this is pure madness itself.

This is much worse than Smith and his clonings.

Several times Neo uses telekinesis to block some bots who want to ambush them. One time Enigma tries to use The One's abilities by throwing some traffic signals at the bots. Some got knocked out, some got died, some even immune with her attack.

A car moves to block them. Neo and Enigma immediately responded in unison, with Neo expending his power to destroy the car while Enigma levitates the Ducati into the air before landing smoothly.

There was the sound of breaking glass from above.

When Neo, Enigma, and Trinity look up, they couldn't believe the sight they were witnessing while trying to escape.

"Seq, what's going on!?" Enigma inquired as to her body's trembles.

"He's turning bots into bombs," Seq answered, sounding shocked too.

From many buildings, a few reckless bots jump onto the highway, landing below before becoming corpses on the streets. Enigma closed her eyes in horror as Neo shields the three from all this and Trinity continues to drive the bike. She could still hear the sound of bots tumbling everywhere, clearly to hinder their escape.

"No!" Neo shouted. Enigma opens her eyes and sees a car flip away from the right side as they smoothly move forward.

"Wait," she mumbled, checking behind from the motorcycle's mirror. "Why don't they chase us?"

The voices of three helicopters answered her question.

Two missiles floated a few meters from them before exploding on the right and left. This was done to bluff. Subsequent missiles move into several cars in front of them, blocking their path. Neo tries to protect them from the fire that engulfs them due to the explosion. For a moment, this method worked.

As soon as the next rocket hits the motorcycle, Neo hugs Trinity and Enigma tightly from behind before they are blown away. He uses his abilities to land them safely in front of the car. Enigma feels pain on her cheeks and stomach while she stands up, helps her parents stand up. Flames moved everywhere while the three of them hide away while searching for a safe location.

"There!" Seq pointed out at an entrance of a tall building.

"There they are!" Shit, they spot them as they're inside.

Their eyes are still focused forward while trying to breathe slowly due to strong adrenaline. Some SWAT members direct their weapons and shoot. Neo immediately stands up front, raised his hands to stop a lot of bullets while Trinity and Enigma stand behind, sustaining his body.

The elevator nears Trinity opens and she guides both of them inside, shuts the door, and presses the highest floor as they take time to breathe. Without warning, Trinity immediately hits Enigma's head hard.

"Ow!" She whined. "What was that for?!"

"What was that for?!" Her blue eyes look at hers in disbelieve and upset. "Why do you always move without thinking of danger?! Every time, Enigma. Every goddamn time! Do I have to keep reminding you so you don't keep hurt?!"

"Trinity, I know the risk..."

"Yes, you always say that! But for God's sake, Enigma, I'm your mother! Have you ever thought about my feelings every time bad things happened to you?" Tears began to come out of her eyes while she hugs her. "I don't want you or your father to get hurt again."

A realization hit Enigma as soon as she remembered what Trinity had said earlier, about playing The Matrix. Unknowingly, Enigma strokes her mother's head as she continued to cry, glancing at Neo who doesn't seem to know what to say or what to express.

Trinity didn't know what happened after they arrived at Logos. Little did she know that Neo and Enigma died to defeat Smith.

That fact must have shaken her to the core, that the man and child she loves died as well.

"Uh, it's open," Neo gestures outside so Trinity and Enigma know that they're arriving.

Trinity quickly wipes her tears as they go into an emergency door, into the roof.

As they climb up, a helicopter awaits them.

"Oh come on!" Enigma fumed, throws her hands in the air as bullets fired from the vehicle.

Like before, Neo covers them as Trinity and Enigma drag him away. Enigma remembered that time her parents rescued Morpheus by using a helicopter and fires the building. In a way, their position is in reverse now.

Another helicopter also fires the bullets. This time, Enigma helps her Neo out. But two of them aren't enough. They are already exhausted at this point. She can barely stand up now.

Her eyes catch a missile heading into them. Neo quickly redirects it towards another helicopter, the impact pushes them away.

Enigma's body feels tired. It takes several movements for her to stand up straight while dusting some of the dust off her red trench jacket. With a slightly limp leg, she helps Trinity to her feet. The sky's starting to light up. Birds fly in flocks from a distance. Sunlight enveloped San Francisco in a golden-yellow color. She's pensive for a moment due to a strong deja vu, remembering the scene they had witnessed while at Logos with this moment flashed through her mind.

While holding her hand, Trinity slowly inhales, looks at the scenery. "...it's so beautiful," she gasped with a fond smile, the same way when looking at the real sky.

Quietly, they look at Neo as they hold each other's hands.

"I remember this," Trinity whispered. "I remember us."

Enigma slowly lets go of the grip, lets Neo and Trinity kiss each other as the sun rises, knowing they need that intimate moment together.

"My dream ended here."

From behind, she can hear the door forcefully open.

"We can't go back," Trinity spoke as she holds Enigma's hand.

Go back to their old life, both in Matrix and Zion, in the past or the present.

As three of them stuck in a time that moves beyond their reach.

"We won't," Neo promised.

"Now," Enigma convinced, "and ever."

They look at the front, not scared at all. Hand in hand, they run and jump off the building. Time seems to move slowly as they float through the air without any momentum occurring.

Until something happens.

Enigma looks down, surprised that they're not falling and still floating. Her blue eyes look up and find Trinity hovering in the air, her hands tightly gripping them both.

"I'm not doing this," Neo mentioned, looking stunned at Trinity. "Are you doing this?"

"You're doing a Superman thing!" Enigma roared while laughing.

Soon, their eyes catch another bloody helicopter aiming in their direction, ready to attack them. But Trinity had enough of it. "Bye," she declared before flying away, carrying them away.

A few months later

Takes off her sunglasses, Enigma picks up Deja Vu who's standing on the asphalt road. She stroked the cat's head before an explosion occurs just a few meters away. From the sky, she sees Neo and Trinity flying. Enigma approaches Neo who's standing in front of the entrance as Trinity flies toward the Analyst from the hole she made.

Once they got Trinity and brought her to IO, the three of them were able to let go of their worries. Trauma, cries, nightmares, medication, guilt, adaptation, family moments. Everything happened in recent times. Enigma admits, those times were not good. Especially when all three of them suffer from panic symptoms, nightmares, and unbearable anger that explodes before the guilt sets in. But they face it all together as a family.

Although the effects still won't wear off for a very long time, at least their condition is much better than early days.

She hears her mother speaks as they both arrive upstairs. "Tiffany?" She asked, clearly trying to suppress her anger.

The Analyst chuckles. "It was a private joke. An amusement, that's all."

The blond girl doesn't know what the joke suppose to mean as she gives Deja Vu to Neo. Close pronounce as Trinity, a pun for an image file format, a jewelry store, or references to some cult Incel co-opting of The Matrix on the internet if she combines Chad and Tiffany. Either way, Trinity hates it. And honestly, Enigma and Neo hate that name too.

"An amusement? Hmm." With a swift move, she kicks his jaw off.

"Whoa," Neo winced but doesn't interrupt.

"Kind of like that?" Trinity dared him before snapping her fingers, heal him.

"Okay. Ow. If you hated the name so much, why did you heel like a good little bitch so long?"

Without much thought, Enigma walks over to him and kicks him hard in the crotch before Trinity slices his throat.

"Yeah. Definitely asked for that," Neo agreed, still patting Deja Vu as they both glance him.

This time, Enigma snaps her fingers, brings the program back. The Analyst groans. "Can't you control her?" He complained at Neo.

His lover responds by punching his face and slamming him onto a wall. "That was for using children," Trinity snarled, still angry with this program.

For used her motherhood side with Enigma to fake children so she won't escape.

For putted on Enigma in vegetative state to guilt trip Neo into more misery so the Source can generated more power.

"We have a few questions," Neo began, let go of the cat as the Analyst stands up, clearly hurt by all those attack. Good. He deserved it after all shit he had done to them.

"First," Enigma folds her arms. "You spend so much time for our resurrection. Went as far as to get my RSI to completed it. Yet you planned to kill me in Anomaleum. Why?"

A few days earlier, the three of them, Sati, and several experts from IO had attempted to investigate further with the safe that Kamala had created. However, they can only crack a few encryptions. Those encryptions reveal a lot of command codes, in case something happens with Enigma. From automatic destruction of Anomaleum to the extreme increase of Neo and Trinity's parenthood that will triggers their power to be releases, just like what happened one time in Anomaleum.

The Analyst slowly rises up while groans. "You won't believe me."

"Try me."

He sighs, cracks his body as he sits down. "I discovered something while trying to activate the source code between you two," he gestures between her and Neo. "Something impossible inside her."

Neo frowns upon catches a hint of nervousness at the program's voice. "What?"

"The eyes of the Oracle."

Trinity cocks her head, clearly shocked. Her mind flashes what Merovingian said at Hel Club. "'It is said they cannot be taken, they can only be given'," she recited.

"Exactly," the Analyst continued. "Somehow, the Oracle transferred parts of her code into your daughter. Other than that, I don't know much else. I can't access it, no matter how many times I tried."

"And that's why you wanted my death?" Enigma concluded, finally putting the puzzle in pieces.

"It annoyed me that I couldn't access your code. But I couldn't let you live after knowing that you had the Oracle's code. Yet again," he grunted, "whenever I tried, your parents would always stopped it, despite I put so many effort to prevented it."

In other words, he's scared that Enigma will become the future Oracle after he deleted the original and might lead more people to wake up. That explains so much. Why Enigma had 'the Sight' and those visions often comes often than Neo or Trinity. Why the Oracle and Seraph sacrificed their lives for her safety. Why did Kamala input a complicated safe inside her. If the Analyst gets the Oracle's code, nothing good comes out. And if he ever dares to kill Enigma, the command codes inside the safe will activate, ruins his work.

Enigma smiles fondly as she sees an old conversation between the Oracle and the Architect. The old woman must had see the purge happen and set everything in motion from that point. Just like how she guided Morpheus to find The One that lead to finding him, told Trinity that she will love The One, advised Neo and Enigma several times, even tricked Smith to overtake her. All for peace between the two groups.

"You tried to activate the fail-safe," Trinity pointed out, shifting the topic to somewhere else.

"The Suits tried," the Analyst clarified. "Obviously, without control of your source code, I knew that was impossible."

"So, why haven't the Suits purged you?"

"Because I know the system. I know human beings. And I know you. Right now, you're feeling good about what you've done. You should. It was a victory. Bravo. Now what? You've come here to negotiate some kind of deal?" He scoffed. "You think you hold all the cards because you can do whatever you want in this world. I say, go for it. Remake it. Knock yourselves out. Paint the sky with rainbows. But here's the thing. The sheeple... aren't going anywhere. They like my world. They don't want this sentimentality," he gestures at them mockingly. "They don't want freedom or empowerment. They want to be controlled. They crave the comfort of certainty. And that means you three, back in your pods, unconscious and alone, just like them."

The family look at each other before they chuckle, amuse. "We're not here to negotiate anything," Neo corrected.

"As if you deserve one," Enigma mocked.

"We were on our way to remake your world," Trinity claimed.

"Change a few things," Neo added.

"I kind of like the 'paint the sky with rainbows' idea."

"Sati made one. It was absolutely beautiful," Enigma shared. "Worth for everyone to see."

Neo smiles. "Just remind people what a free mind can do."

"I forgot. It's easy to forget," Trinity commented.

"He makes it easy."

"That he does."

"Something he should think about."

"A lot," Enigma emphasized as they all look at the Analyst, grinning.

"Before we got started, we decided to stop by to say thank you," Trinity said. "You gave us something we never thought we could have."

"And what is that?" He dared.

"Another chance."

They take their sunglasses on and together, hand in hand, they fly across the sky, free as ever.
