I figured this story deserved it's ending…its time to let this version of Jessica and Phil to live out their story without us. AEW owns those you know, those no longer with the company own themselves, WWE owns theirs…I own mine. Enjoy!
1 year later - Jessica's POV
"Babe! Come quick, he's going to do it!" Phil yelled from the living room. I dropped the bottle I was making and ran into the room, pulling out my phone from my pocket.
There sitting on the floor was Phil with his arms stretched forward. Jack had one hand on the coffee table and one holding the toy in his mouth. He was staring at Phil chewing away.
"Come on buddy, come to Daddy." Phil cooed trying to get him to let go of the table.
"Try holding a toy." I said, "Maybe it'll let him to let go."
"I doubt it, he's already got one." Phil said, still motioning for Jack to move closer. I moved behind Phil and began to record.
"Hi baby!" I cooed, Jack let out a happy coo in response. "Come to Mama and Dada." I tried. Our son smiled back in response and babbled away at us. Phil dropped his head, I laughed.
"Come on JackJack…I'm begging you." Phil pleaded. Every night for the past week Phil has been convinced that Jack will take his first steps. He places him at the table, sits a few feet away and begs him to take steps…every night Jack has remained in place or crawled to Phil.
"Phil, he'll walk when he's ready." I said, ending my video. "Remember the Dr said he may be a bit delayed in areas from being early." I placed a hand on his shoulder and he sighed.
"Just because the Dr said he may be delayed doesn't mean we have to let him. I'm going to make sure he hits his mile stones." Phil said determined. I bent down and kissed the top of his head.
"You're the best husband and father." I said softly before going over and picking Jack up. "Who's ready for bed time?" I asked him. He gigged and Mama'ed away as I headed into the kitchen. Phil was behind us quickly, finishing the bottle I had started. I pried the toy from Jack's hands as Phil replaced it with his bottle. All three of us headed upstairs to Jack's room. I sat in the rocking chair as Phil began to prepare the room for him to sleep. As I rocked, Phil dimmed the lights, started the white noise machine and the mobile over the crib. He turned the baby monitor on and cleared his crib of any pacifiers from the nap and other various things Jack got a hold of or pulled off his body. Jack finished his bottle as his eyes were beginning to shut. I stood up and Phil took the bottle from us.
"Good night buddy, we love you." Phil whispered as he bent down to kiss his forehead. I looked at Phil in awe as I do every night. He's the best father I could have asked for my child. He lives and breathes our son every minute of everyday. He's constantly coming upstairs in between appointments and breaks to see him, give a bottle, change a diaper, or even just check on him while he's napping. I know we've only had Jack for a year, but I'm ready to have another 5 babies with this man because of how he is with our son.
I leaned down and kissed Jack, before placing him in his crib. Phil grabbed a pacifier placing it near him, in case he needed to soothe himself during the night. We walked out of the room, turning the light off and closing the door. Phil laced his fingers with mine and led me downstairs, back to the living room.
"We have the best son." He said to me. I smiled back at him as we sat on the couch. Phil moved a few toys and blankets over and wrapped an arm around me. Every night Phil and I try to make sure we have time for just us two. During the day it's baby all the time, but we always try to remember there's a relationship, a marriage, that has to survive parenthood too.
"Maybe he'll walk tomorrow." He said. I snorted.
"Babe, let it go." I started, "Let's focus on us a bit tonight." I said leaning up and placing a kiss on his lips. I felt him smile and deepen the kiss. He moved his hands to grab me and pull me up onto his lap. My hands found their way around his neck as things heated up further. Phil began to reach for my shirt and pull it up when both of our phones began to vibrate.
"Ignore it." He mumbled against my lips. The phones kept buzzing and we pulled away as Phil grunted in frustration. I giggled as I opened the texts.
"Did he walk yet?" Randy asked.
"Oh I hope he did! Did he? DID HE?" Asked April.
"There better be video!" Daniella said.
"I hate this group chat." Phil said to me, I laughed.
"I think it's fun." I said. Our phones buzzed again.
"Remember, every child develops at their own rate so if he didn't walk its okay." Mike said.
"I really hate this chat." Phil said, emphasizing the word really. Things with his brother were better, but still not great. After Jack was born I pushed for Phil to speak with Mike and clear the air. We had a baby now and whether Phil liked it or not, Mike was technically family. It would be nice for our son to grow up knowing more that that his Mom dated his Uncle and that his Dad hated his Uncle. I managed to get them both to agree to talk while Jack was still in the hospital, but it wasn't very productive. Mike heard Phil out, and apologized for everything, which to me was huge. However, Phil wasn't very forgiving of his brother and let him know that forgiveness wasn't going to happen. He said he wouldn't embrace his brother, but for the sake of our new little family he'd tolerate having him around. Mike was happy to just get anything from Phil as was I, but behind closed doors Phil always let me know how he truly felt about his brother.
"Oh be nice, Jack is his nephew." I said nudging him.
"And your ex." He said.
"That doesn't matter anymore." I said, "Not since we got married." He huffed. I turned back to the chat and sent the video of tonight's failed attempt.
"Nothing yet." Phil replied.
"Aw chin up Daddy, he'll walk to you soon." Nick said.
"You're such a cute dad Phil! He'll definitely take those first steps towards you." April said.
"HEY!" I wrote. Phil laughed.
"I'm his favorite." Phil said to me.
"You are not." I said back.
"You're a cute Mama!" Daniella said.
"I say he walks to Phil first. I'll even bet on it!" Randy chimed.
"Me too!" Said April.
"I say Jess, she gave him life!" Daniella said.
"I agree with Daniella, he's going to Jess." Colt finally chimed in.
"It doesn't matter who he goes to, he loves you both." Said Mike.
"Please stop betting on our son." I said.
"Oh, he's definitely coming to me. I've been coaching him." Phil added in the chat.
"Are you serious?" I asked him. He flashed me a smile.
"You're just getting mad because you know he'll take those first steps to me." He said.
"You mean just like he said Dada first?" I asked smiling. Phil was so upset when Jack's first word was Mama. His face fell when I said it.
"We don't talk about that." He said. I laughed pushing into him again, so he'd understand the teasing was all out of love.
"Cheater!" Daniella said. Phil sent back the emoji with the tongue sticking out.
"Well I'm taping out for the night, we'll speak again for morning updates." Nick said. April liked his message.
"You guys are way too involved. Lol" I added.
"That's a weird way to say thanks for being the best aunts and uncles to the best little boy." Colt said. Phil and I both laughed.
"Good night guys, we love you as much as you all love our son." Phil added.
"Aren't you sweet?" I said as he took both of our phones and put them down.
"What can I say? Fatherhood as made me soft." He said shrugging. I laughed and snuggled into him as he pulled me closer.
"We do really have the best baby…" he started, "Wanna make another one?" I looked up and him and smiled. He flashed a big one back and pressed a hard kiss to my lips. He stood up and picked me up, throwing me over his shoulder and headed upstairs.
I'd have as many kids with him as he wanted.
That's it! I wanted to give pure fluff at the end as well as an update on to where Phil and Mike stood. If you came back to finish this story after all these years, I thank you. If you just read all of this now, I thank you too. I hope you enjoyed this story as much as I did!
