A/N: Sorry for the late update! After this, I won't be able to post another chapter for another week, since I'm going on vacation. But I'll still be writing, so you better get ready for some wicked uploads! Anyways, credit to didemi for one of the minor scenes in this part.
SOME CLARIFICATION: This story takes place long before the events of Resident Evil Village. Chris and Ethan are about toddler age right now. Gosh, they have no clue what their lives will be like. Welp, now that it's all settled, let's get into your (not) favorite RE8 story!
Still a bit shocked, Alcina stood up. "I'm going to put the girls to bed, then I'll come back, alright?" She made it to the door before she had to turn around. "And I love you, too." Filled with a mix of emotions, she called all of her daughters to Bela's room. "Daughters, before you go to sleep, I have something to ask you." The three, now dressed for bed, materialized in front of her. "Yes, Mother?" Cassandra asked, and Alcina took a deep breath. "How would you all feel about having another sister?" Bela looked confused, but Daniela figured it out. "She means Seline! Right?" Alcina smiled. I never could manage to get anything past her. She's too perceptive. "Yes, Daniela, you are correct. But I wanted to get your permission before anything happened." The three girls suddenly hugged their mother. "Yes! We'd love for Seline to be our sister!" Alcina smiled and hugged them back, but then remembered what time it was. "We'll talk with her in the morning when she's feeling well. For now, it's bedtime." No amount of protesting could get them out of it, so they agreed to go to sleep. They did not agree, however, to stay in bed. The second Alcina had shut the door and walked down the hall, two swarms of flies flew to Cassandra's room, where she was already eagerly waiting. Nighttime meetings were always in her room. Once Bela and Daniela reformed, they started whisper-chatting at the same time. "I can't believe we're gonna have a little sister!" Cassandra said excitedly, and Daniela nodded. "Especially one as amazing as Seline!" While the girls were having their nighttime conversation, Alcina was having one of her own. Even though the idea of asking someone else for help was annoying, she knew that her sister, Donna, would be the best one to ask for advice. So, she called the dollmaker. "HELLO, THIS IS ANGIE SPEAKING!" Alcina sighed, hearing the doll on the other end. "Hello, Angie. Is Donna around?" Tapping sounds through the phone signaled that Angie had waddled away in search of her 'mother'. Eventually, Donna picked up the phone. "Sorry about that. What do you need, Alcina?" Already feeling a bit more reassured at the sound of her sister's voice, Alcina relayed her situation. "...So what do I do? Obviously, I care about her like she's my daughter already, but what will Miranda say?" The fact that Alcina wasn't calling Miranda 'Mother' wasn't lost on Donna, but it wasn't the time to mention it. "Just don't let Miranda find out." That would be extremely difficult, along with dangerous. But Seline was worth it. "You're right. You always have the best advice, sister." Even though she couldn't really see her face, Alcina could tell that Donna was blushing at the praise. "Make sure to have her visit Angie and I!" Donna hung up the phone, and Alcina took a moment to gather her thoughts. Then, she headed back to Seline's room.
It was quite a long night for everyone, as Seline woke up every hour or so. However, at around 4 in the morning, Alcina was finally convinced that she would stay asleep, and headed back to her room to maybe get some sleep herself. However, something was blocking the path to her door. Well, three somethings. Even though they had tried their best to stay awake and wait for their mother, the sisters had fallen asleep at her door. Alcina smiled at the sight affectionately, and picked them up one at a time. As she carried each of the girls to their respective rooms, Alcina couldn't help looking at how much they had changed. Cassandra's room was decorated with whatever posters that 'Uncle Heisenberg' gave her. She loved seeing the signs of the outside world she would never be able to be a part of. Daniela's room had assorted drawings and paintings taped on the walls, and art supplies scattered around. Taking a quick peek at her desk, Alcina marveled at her daughter's talent. On one of her open sketchbooks, a pencil sketch of the four of them had been beautifully drawn. Soon, she'll be drawing another person in our family. As she set her oldest daughter into bed, Alcina looked at the one room that had barely changed at all. The only difference in Bela's room over the years was the different books that were strewn around. Not a single one was creased or ripped in any way, and elegant bookmarks showed her place in the novels. Bela had always been the one that took after her mother's passion for reading, and Alcina had done her best to help her find more books that would keep that passion burning. "…Mother?" Alcina looked down in surprise as her eldest daughter slowly woke up. "Go back to sleep, darling." Bela settled into bed, but not before giving her mother a hug. "I'm really happy I'm gonna have a new sister." Alcina hugged her back, and gently pushed her back to the bed. "I'm quite happy as well. Now goodnight, my daughter." Finally able to relax, Alcina sank into her own bed. However, even though sleep would find her easily, it would not be peaceful.
"Mama? What are you doing?!" Alcina looked at the struggling child in front of her. "Seline…?" Dark vines of Mold were holding the girl to a table. "Seline, what's happening?!" It didn't seem like she could hear her. A dark presence walked into the room and offered a syringe to Alcina. "Finish what you started." Alcina tried to refuse, tried to protest, tried to do ANYTHING, but all she could do was watch. Watch as she took the syringe. Watch as she approached her daughter. And finally, Alcina watched herself inject it into Seline. "Mama, stop! You're hurting me! Help! HELP!" She saw the injection moving to Seline's head, and finally understood what it was. Cadou. She was killing her child. "Uncle Heisenberg! Auntie Donna! Uncle Moreau! Please, someone help me!" Eventually, Seline stopped struggling, and Alcina, once again, did nothing but watch as she began to mutate into a Lycan. That wasn't even the worst part of the nightmare, though. "Allie?" Karl's eyes drilled into her. "You did this." Without another word, he walked away from her. Next was Salvatore, who barely spared her a glance. "You killed her." He left her as well, and standing in his place was Donna, sounding sadder than Alcina had ever heard. "I trusted you…" Finally, there were her daughters, and the way they looked at her, with no compassion for their mother, shattered Alcina's heart in two. "You're a monster." The three spoke in turn. "You turned us into monsters." Bela and Daniela had said their lines and walked away, leaving Cassandra to twist the knife into the wound. "I hate you."
"I hate you."
"I hate you."
"I hate you."
Alcina woke up, but the voice didn't disappear.
