Chapter 23: Kalos and More

It was rather difficult trying to keep quiet with Lance hitting just the right spot, over, and over, and—

"Lance—!"

That, however, did not discourage him, if anything, he got a bit rougher and I could only knot my fists into the sheets, unable to help crying out from the searing pleasure. My orgasm was dizzying, white hot, and I could barely catch my breath. When I was finally coming back to my senses, Lance was still shivering in pleasure, his comforting weight over me. He rolled us onto our sides and just wrapped his body around me in a spooning position, his hot ragged breath on the back of my neck. That had been a lot!

We honestly fell asleep that way with Lance still inside me. Lance barely managed to yank the quilt over us, but honestly, he was so warm I wouldn't have minded either way.

Our luggage was already in our room, ready for our trip to Kalos thankfully. I guess the whole point had been for everything to be as easy as possible for us. We had had to frantically yank one of the bags open to get to the lube. We had honestly used spit in a time of desperation a few times, and I was never really eager to have to rely on that quickly drying body fluid again.

I groaned softly as I woke up to soft sunlight and motion. Huh. I slowly sat up and looked around, a naked, half hard, and still sleeping Lance wrapped around me. I smirked and took in that view first. Nice. He was fucking gorgeous.

The cabin was really nice. Obviously, rooms on a boat couldn't exactly be that big, so the size of our room being as big as it was made it impressive. I hadn't really looked around last night. Lance and I had boarded, and then the second we'd reached our room we'd pretty much jumped each other. We'd barely gotten the duvet flicked back and a towel laid down in time honestly. White sheets and anal sex were always too big a risk, and it wasn't like I'd had much of a chance to prep. Lance being as… endowed as he was pretty much guaranteed the need for a towel unless I'd had enough time to clean myself extensively.

Lance groaned softly, my movement probably waking him up. I wasn't exactly caught off guard when he wrapped his arms around me and yanked me right back down against him. His skin felt so good on mine. "Lance, I really have to pee," I sighed, and he reluctantly released me. I definitely wouldn't have left him if nature hadn't been calling so insistently.

I quickly found the bathroom and took a leak. It was honestly a really nice bathroom, narrow, but double sinks and a glass sliding door shower.

That taken care of, I stepped back into our room. I'd been on a boat with Gold and Crystal to Hoenn once, but it'd been a long while. The gentle motion and rock were so interesting. I'd been on the top deck with Gold and Crystal on departure during that trip. This trip I most certainly had not. Now I could at least say I'd officially gotten laid on a boat.

I found my boxers on the floor and tugged them back on, peeking out the sheer curtains. We were out in the middle of the ocean. Neat. I glanced back at Lance and quickly crawled back into bed with him. He just huffed at my now cold feet, but dutifully rewrapped his body around mine. My head was pillowed between his bicep and chest, his other arm wrapped around me, the top of his thighs against the backs of mine, his half hard cock against my ass, and our legs intertwined. It was sheer bliss, and I easily fell back asleep.

I woke up again when Lance was the one that had to pee this time, and I finally decided I should probably get up. I threw a glance at the alarm clock, it read 9:40 am, in what time zone I had no clue. I just sighed and invited myself into the bathroom, smirking at Lance's very naked self finishing up. "Want to take a shower together?" I offered.

"Tight fit," he teased. "Challenge accepted."

Challenge accepted indeed. The sway of the boat, the narrow shower, and reaching an orgasm standing up while still trying to finish Lance off were an interesting combination! But, we managed, successfully washed our hair and bodies, and emerged feeling refreshed.

The few days at sea were everything we needed: quiet, calm, and a moment to take time deepening our bond. All we really had to do was relax, love each other, and remember to eat every once and a while.

But I was excited to reach Kalos, too. We got to adventure all over the region for a few days, from popular tourist areas to random caves and marshes looking for the weird pokemon that inhabited the region.

However, one pokemon encounter topped all the others by far.

"Holy shit," Lance uttered, sounding a mixed of amazed and horrified. I looked around frantically to see what had shocked Lance of all people. "Silver, that's a dragon type."

Uh. I stared at the purple ditto like creature he was pointing at, and I was certain he was fucking with me.

"Lance…"

"No, really."

Huh. Yeah, he was definitely fucking with me.

"I'm going to catch it."

Wow. I watched, totally amused as Lance literally just gentle tossed a pokeball at the pokemon and caught it instantly. "It's level 8," I stated, laughing, absolutely amused by Lance's new "dragon."

"They all start somewhere. I'm totally raising it."

And raise it he did. We double battled all across the region, Lance with his stupid blob and me with an actual pokemon. It was safe to say Goomy was just there to watch and gain experience. It was even more hilarious with us of course yelling in Japanese at our pokemon (since it was out naïve tongue and all). We definitely looked like a pair of foreign twats. And the "dragon" never evolved either despite the training.

However, we learned something that was more than a bit surprising during one of our battles.

Twister had been practicing Lance's signature hyper beam… and the beam had curved. I'd assumed Lance had done it, but he'd just stood there looking completely shocked. "Silver…" he uttered carefully, "that beam curved."

"Didn't you do that?"

"No. I can't control Twister, he's your pokemon from birth. I can't control dragons with a bond like that. Don't get me wrong, our bond would allow him to fight for me no problem, but I can't control him with my gift when you're actively guiding him like that."

I just blinked. We ended up on the backs of our dragons, and sure enough, I could ever so slightly curve the beams. Lance even traded me one of his dragonairs, and I could replicate the curve.

"That's amazing," he uttered in sheer wonder.

We couldn't pinpoint why, but it seemed I was manifesting some of my husband's gifts. Apparently, his power had manifested in a similar manner when he'd been younger, with a slight curve to the beam. He was confident if I practiced, I'd be able to control the massive beam of energy as effortlessly as him. I couldn't manage to manifest the power if Lance wasn't with me, though. We were both a bit amazed what our bond seemed to be doing.

I even got to take on a few gyms, but only for fun. I couldn't exactly win any badges considering I wasn't entered in the region's trainer challenge.

We had a blast in the region, exploring, relaxing at various resorts, buying clothes, trying new foods, and just bonding. I even got my hair cut, a bit shorter than I normally would to above my shoulders, but they styled my bangs amazingly. Lance kept complimenting how well the cut shaped my face and brought attention to my eyes.

Honestly, the two weeks flew by. We were both sad to leave, but excited about the idea of visiting other regions soon.

…The boat ride home also ended up being just as steamy home as it had been there.

Life with Lance had been blissful truthfully. I hadn't expected it to be so easy. We traveled usually a few times a year, and both enjoyed our jobs. Lance even got himself freed from the role of champion (finally) by a young girl from Gold's hometown. He still helped out on the league council, but he had more free time to spend with me.

I manifested Lance's gift even further, becoming able to control hyper beam just as well as Lance, and becoming able to empower my pokemon. I still couldn't do it when Lance wasn't around, but when he was, we were undefeatable in double battles, armed with our dragonites. I couldn't heal pokemon or understand them though.

I also got to watch the pokedex holder families slowly grow, with Red and Yellow marrying at everyone's demand. Crystal finally married a certain Suicune hunter, and even Gold finally settled down with Whitney of all people.

More exciting than the weddings, however, were the babies. Blue had a second, a little girl named Aqua, and Red and Yellow had a sweet little girl, too. They named her Amber. I had a feeling Red and Green's daughters would be best friends. Crystal had boy, Silica, and then a pair of fraternal twins, a boy and girl named Mica and Jewel. I was beyond thankful when Gold actually got to be a father, too. He had two daughters, Sepia and Hazel, and I was certain it was karma at play. I visited them when Whitney was still in the hospital, and watching Gold hold Sepia… I knew things were right. The love in his eyes sent a shiver up my spine, I wasn't even sure he'd been able to look at me like that.

Honestly, Lance and I were perfectly happy remaining childless. I babysat enough as was.

But in my mid-thirties I had to deal with the loss of life again versus seeing it begin. I lost my first pokemon. Weavile had already been getting too old to battle much, but for some reason it never had actually registered with me that he had a limited lifespan. He hadn't woken up one morning, and I was inconsolable for weeks.

But it was part of life, smaller fluffy pokemon usually had lifespans around 30 years. Even my father's powerful beasts had been fully released into the forest to live out their last few years in peace.

However, most of my other pokemon would likely stay with me for years to come, with Gyarados, Kingdra, and Twister sure to outlive me. Feraligatr and Honchcrow would both live until their fifties or sixties likely. Lance gave me a year to get over the death of my first pokemon, and then he surprised me with a little black and blue dragon called deino.

It was sobering in some ways. But… that's why there weren't usually as many older trainers. Their pokemon passed or aged too much, and like sports, it was time to pass the touch.

I yawned and stretched onto the tips of my toes, wandering down the hall and knocking on door to Topaz's room. I'd almost lost track of time. "Are you ready for school?" I called out.

He'd moved to Viridian to stay with Lance and me, one because Green thought it'd be good for him to study in Kanto for a bit, and two because there'd been some bullying at his old school. I couldn't believe someone would bother to bully a gym leader's kid, though. On top of that, Topaz was the famous Professor Oak's great grandson.

He was just a moody teenager at 15, so I didn't have to stress much looking after him truthfully. If anything, he enjoyed a bit of independence.

"Hm."

No answer.

"Goomy," I sighed, releasing Lance's weird ass dragon that still hadn't evolved. I was in charge of babysitting it and dragging it though battles. It was level 38 and still hadn't evolved, so I'd just accepted it for what it was. Even dratini evolved at 30! We were one family, and honestly passed our pokemon back and forth all the time.

It slipped under the door, and I heard Topaz cry out in terror. I could not blame him. Goomy would often accidentally melt carpet. Fortunately, the laminate on the floor currently was Goomy proof.

"I don't want to go to school!"

I just sighed softly. "I mean… your mom will kill me if you don't. At least try one day."

How did one negotiate with a teenager…? I was totally out of my element. I sighed as Goomy unlocked the door. I walked in and settled on his bed where he was buried under the covers. "Come on," I encourage, "I'll walk with you."

He was sweet boy at least. Green was unsurprisingly pretty strict, so he was well behaved. I smiled faintly when he pushed himself up, seeing he was already dressed in his uniform and ready for school. Topaz had been staying summers in Viridian for a few years along with his sister Aqua, but this was the first time he'd attended school in Viridian. We weren't exactly worried about Aqua quite as much… she probably was the school bully, being even wilder than her mother. I hadn't known such a monster could exist.

I headed downstairs, motioning Topaz to at least eat some breakfast. I happily plucked up a piece of toast for myself.

Honestly, Lance and I didn't have half the staff we'd had prior. Some of staff we'd had when we'd first married 14 years ago had aged, passed, or retired. Most of them had been older as well. We'd hired a few just to help with the cleaning and gardens, but there were even two nights a week I got to cook for Lance and me.

"Any challengers at the gym today?" Topaz asked.

I just shrugged and shook my head. Who knew?

The teen gave me a mildly annoyed look and I was confused as to what I'd done. "Is Lance gone all day?"

I shrugged again. Who knew? It always depended on what he managed to get himself caught up in, but he'd usually text me when escape was imminent.

Topaz sighed. "You're not exactly structured," he stated.

I was being scolded by a fucking 15-year-old! He was the embodiment of his father.

"One day at a time," I huffed.

"Did you even put anything on that toast?!"

No, I had not! "Walk yourself to school," I huffed.

Topaz snorted softly, taking joy in tormenting me. At least Aqua wasn't here. She would have been worse. Blue's children were impossible.

I did end up walking Topaz to the school across town. Topaz was the oldest of the second generation of pokedex holders, so this was honestly my first time dealing with the high school. I knew Green and Blue had already finished with all the enrollment stuff, so I was just making sure he actually went. Honestly, I'd probably dealt with over half the kids in the school by this point, being the authority on pokemon for the area for about 20 years now... I didn't recognize a single one of them but received plenty of greetings with familiarity.

It was making me feel terribly old.

"I have it from here, Silver," Topaz sighed softly, shooing me away.

I just shrugged, my purposed served. Fair enough. It was probably embarrassing having your uncle walk you to school—even if said uncle was an amazing and highly respected gym leader married to potentially the most powerful and handsome trainer in the region. "Alright, have a good day."

Child free! I escaped, trekking my way back across town to my gym. I was only a bit late. I spent the afternoon training the trainers I'd taken on at the gym, just waiting for Lance to get off truthfully. We'd been playing a dungeon crawling game together and I was looking forward to the next chapter. I was surprised when my pokegear rang, though.

I was even more surprised to see the league calling. Weird. "Hello?"

"Silver… Lance just left for the hospital."

"Is he okay?" I asked quickly. It took a lot to get Lance to the doctor. He hated hospitals as much as I did, maybe even more. He'd probably lost an arm or something if he was taking himself.

"Honestly, I'm not sure. I just figured you'd want to know."

"Yeah, thank you," I uttered, hanging up once he gave me the hospital Lance had headed to. Lance hadn't called me directly, which was concerning. "Hey, you guys can stay here to train or head home, just lock up before you leave. I've got to go."

I didn't really wait for a response, I just left and sent out Twister, his gleaming scales catching the light. "We're heading up to the Indigo Hospital, it sounds like something might have happened to Lance."

I was of course concerned about my husband, but the league organizer hadn't sounded too panicked or anything. I texted Topaz that I'd had to see to something, and that if I wasn't back, he could play video games instead of doing homework. I didn't want to stress him on his first day of his new school. I also texted Blue on the way in case something came up and Topaz needed her with me being unavailable.

Viridian was the closest main city to the Indigo Plateau, which other than the Pokemon League headquarters was just a mountain village half the size of Blackthorn. It only took about 30 minutes to reach it on Twister, maybe an hour for a non-dragonite. I stepped into the hospital and was quickly recognized and lead back to where Lance was.

"Hey," I greeted him softly, stepping into the room and immediately reaching out to him. "What happened?" His arms still seemed attached, and I didn't see any blood.

Lance actually looked a bit grim, and I felt a small, cold, uneasy feeling slowly make its way up my spine. He sighed softly, gently squeezing my hand. "I ended up coughing up…a decent amount of blood," he stated carefully.

That… wasn't exactly good. "Chest infection?" I asked curiously. Lance hadn't exactly been feeling unwell…

"A tumor," he stated softly. "They're going to run some blood and other tests and do what they do."

"Cancer?" I asked in a hushed voice, a bit stunned and scared I'd summon something awful to the room just saying that word

"It… might be," Lance answered me softly.

"You don't even smoke," I uttered in dismay. Lance hadn't even been around any smokers that I could think of. But… I did know the pollution he dealt with. He was always around that stuff, delegating, fining, doing what he could to keep the region safe for people and pokemon. I also knew it could just unluckily happen to anyone…

The doctor came in and talked with both of us, and truthfully, I didn't understand most of what he was talking about. But, they were going to run more tests to decide if the tumor was cancerous or not. They wanted to go ahead and schedule a consultation with a specialist just to speed things up..

I was honestly shocked and completely caught off guard how fast things went after that. It was only a month later I was quietly curled around Lance as he recovered from surgery, he'd been diagnosed with stage two lung cancer, but it had spread from what I understood. I didn't even know what a lymph system was or what it meant that the cancer had spread to it…

"Hey," I stated softly as his sharp sunset eyes fluttered open. He'd been fading in and out afterwards, honestly looking pretty beat. I couldn't exactly blame him. I had just crawled into his bed and wrapped gently around him, trying to lend my other half my life force if such a thing could be allowed. "How are you feeling?"

"Like I fell 30 feet into the ocean and took too long getting to the surface," he replied, his voice rough.

I smiled faintly. "Oddly specific."

And we just basked in silence after that, not needing to trade many words at this point in our lives, our hearts softly whispering to each other without needing any help from our mouths.

"I love you."

"I love you, too."
