Far East Duel Championship
A teen whose pupils were vertical, like a cat, and had light brown eyes, sat on a bench within a locker room. He had raised, light blue hair with one wick of green colored hair falling over his forehead, and green hair near his neck as well.
He wore black boots, white pants, and a black long-sleeved shirt with purple accents. The young man took a deep breath and cleared his mind. This coming duel was make or break, and after coming this far, he refused to lose.
The horn blared, and the young man got to his feet. "It's time."

"Welcome duel fans to the Far East Duel Championships!" A voice declared. "After a good couple of weeks and two hundred duelists, the Far East Champion will be decided between our finalists. Put your cards together for the Malicevorous Master, Kyoji Yagumo."
The young man from the locker room walked out with his D-Pad held high to the cheering of the crowd.
"His opponent is the Number 1 Ninja User, Kaze Yami!" The announcer declared.
From the opposite side, another teen walked out wearing purple ninja robes with a black scarf and matching accents. He had black and light green hair with dull yellow eyes. As he walked, he was composed and sturdy like a rock. Kyoji and Kaze came to stand across from each other.
"You've made it to this point, but your journey sadly ends here." Kaze closed his eyes. "I have come too far too loose now."
"That goes double for me." Kyoji declared firmly.
"Ah, so you are a warrior in your own right." Kaze opened his eyes. "Very well, may the best man win."
Kyoji nodded. "Right."
"Alright, let's get this championship duel underway!"
The two duelists walked back before turning and facing one.

(Kyoji 4000/Kaze 4000)
"I shall start by summoning Upstart Golden Ninja(LV 4/500/1800)." A ninja in more expensive garbs appeared. "This card allows me to send a trap from my hand to the grave to special summon a ninja in face up or face down defense position.
I'll choose Aqua Armor Ninja(LV 4/800/1600) in face up defense position." A ninja in blue garbs with silver armor appeared. "Now, I construct the overlay network with my two level four monsters. Xyz summon Spy Armor Ninja(R4/O2/1900/1600).
A ninja in full on black garb appeared. "Once per turn, I can detach 1 or 2 overlay units from this monster to activate a corresponding effect. I'll detach 2 to add any Ninja monster and any Ninjitsu Art spell/trap from my deck to my hand. I'll then end my turn with 1 face down."
"What you've just seen is Kaze's classic set up." The announcer declared. "With an almost full hand, graveyard setup, a back row, and monster on the field, it's clear Kaze isn't messing around. How will Kyoji respond?"
"It's my move!" Kyoji drew. "I'll summon Malicevorous Spoon(LV 2/100/500)." A small fiend wielding a spoon appeared. "Since all I control is a level 2 monster, I can special summon Malicevorous Whisk(LV 2/200/300)." A small fiend wielding a whisk appeared.
"Now, I overlay my monsters. Xyz summon Malicevorous Cleaver(R2/O2/1500/800)." A small fiend wielding a cleaver appeared. "By detaching 1 overlay unit, this card can send any one monster you control to the grave.
Then, you're dealt damage equal to the sent monsters original ATK. (Kyoji 4000/Kaze 2100). With your Spy Armor Ninja gone, your field is wide open for a direct attack. Go, Malicevorous Cleaver!"
"Nice try, but I was prepared for such a move from you. I activate the effect of Aqua Armor Ninja." Kaze countered. "Since you launched a direct attack, and I have another Ninja in my grave, I can banish this card to negate that attack."
"Then, I shall set one card and end my turn." Kyoji announced.
"Kyoji set out to deal a devastating blow with his Malicevorous monsters, and while he did take a large chunk of Kaze's life points, the ninja had a trick up his sleeve to keep himself in the game." The announcer declared.
"My turn!" Kaze drew. "I summon Twilight Ninja Shingetsu(LV 4/1500/100)." A ninja with four arms and twin glowing katana appeared. "I then activate my Ninjitsu Art of Transformation. By tributing a ninja on my field, I can special summon another.
To be more specific, it's any Ninja with equal or less levels than the tributed monster plus three. Additionally, they must be Beast, Winged-Beast, or Insect type, and they can come from hand or deck. I'll tribute Shingetsu to special summon Black Dragon Ninja(LV 7/2800/1600)."
A brown-haired ninja in black garbs with red accents appeared. "Now, by sending a Ninjitsu Art card and Ninja monster from my hand and/or field to the grave, I can banish 1 monster on your field. I'll be sending the required cards from my hand to banish Cleaver."
"Sorry, but I think you'll need to find a different way to get rid of my monster because I'm activating Dark Illusion." Kyoji countered. "This card takes any effect that targets one monster I control, negates it, and destroys the card with said effect."
"I activate Armor Ninjitsu Art of Alchemy." Kaze declared. "By destroying as many Ninjitsu Art cards I control as possible, I'm allowed to draw two cards. My transformation trap remained on the field, so I'll pitch it." He drew his new cards.
"I then activate Armor Ninjitsu Art of Revival to special summon a Ninja monster from my grave, and I can think of no better than Black Dragon Ninja(LV 7/2800/1600). Fortunately for you, I am incapable of using his effect with the cards in my hand.
Still, I can equip him with Ninjitsu Art Equipment Kanamugura granting him 500 more ATK." Black Dragon Ninja(LV 7/3300/1600 effect). "Additionally, I can banish a Ninja, like Shingetsu, to destroy 1 card on the field. Your Cleaver is my target. Now, he will attack you."
(Kyoji 700/Kaze 2100)
"This guy is really good." Kyoji thought. "Then again, I would expect nothing less from someone who's mastered the Ninja archetype."
"With that, I believe I shall end my turn." Kaze declared.
"It was back and forth there for a moment, but Kaze ultimately pulled his turn back to bring Kyoji's life points all the way below 1000." The announcer declared. "Either of their turns coming up could very well be the end of this duel."
"I'll admit you got me with your last turn, but this turn I'm end this duel." Kyoji drew. "First, I normal summon Malicevorous Knife(LV 2/600/100)." A small field wielding a knife appeared. When he's normal summoned, I can special summon any Malicevorous monster from my grave.
Well, provided it's not another knife. I'll choose my Malicevorous Spoon(LV 2/100/500). Now, I construct the overlay network with my two monsters. Xyz summon Malicevorous Spatula(R2/O2/1000/0)." A fiend wielding a spatula appeared.
"I chain the trap Ninjitsu Art Shuriken Barrage." Kaze countered. "This trap destroys any one monster on your field, and I can activate it from my hand by halving my life points (Kyoji 700/Kaze 1050). Your spatula is done for."
"You're right, but it's not because of your trap." Kyoji declared. "I activate the quick-play spell Rank-Up-Magic Dining Force. This trap lets me target a Dark monster I control with Xyz materials and use it to rebuild the overlay network for a monster one rank higher.
Malicevorous monster which pierces the defenses of all who oppose us, appear! Rank Up Xyz Change! Xyz summon Malicevorous Corkscrew(R3/O3/?/0)." A small fiend holding a corkscrew appeared.
"A monster with mystery attack?" Kaze questioned.
"It's only a mystery until his ability activates." Kyoji replied. "When this monster is Xyz summoned, his ATK becomes equal to the current ATK of the strongest monster on the field, and that's your Black Dragon Ninja." Malicevorous Corkscrew(R 3/O3/3300/0 effect).
"Now, our monsters can crash into each other, but my life points will remain safe." Kaze stated.
"Wrong." Kyoji declared. "Malicevorous Corkscrew(R3/O2/3300/0 effect) can detach one overlay unit to switch a monster to face up defense position. Go, Cork Turn!" Corkscrew stabbed the ninja's card and forcing the ninja into defense. "Then, he can deal double piercing damage. Go, Piercing Darkness (Kyoji 700/Kaze 0) Winner: Kyoji!"
The crowd went wild.
"I can't believe I suffered my first lost." Kaze stared at the fiend user before going wide eyed. "Does that mean he's the one?"
"With a stunning turnaround, that circumnavigated a trap from the hand, Kyoji is your new Far East Duel Champion!" The announcer declared making the crowd cheer even louder.
"I did it." Kyoji smiled and waved to the crowd. "Were you watching everyone back home because this is the start of a better life for all of you."
Hunter's Room: 1 Week Later, Morning…
Hunter was sitting at his desk looking at promotional for the upcoming World Duel Carnival. "The WDC… I bet Kite and Shay will be there."
He opened the entry form and contemplated filling it out before sighing as he closed it. At least now he was no longer in bed. After seeing what Kite was capable of, he hadn't left his bed for three days straight except to use the bathroom.
His pad dinged, and he brought up his messages to see he got one from Nistro. "What does he want?"
Upon playing the message, he saw his old master looking rather furious. "Hunter Raiden, your family told me how you've been, and it is disgraceful to my teachings! A Heroic duelist does not wallow in self-pity! Get down to the park on the double!
I'll be informed when you've opened this message, and a timer has already started. If you aren't here soon, the first thing you'll do is run laps. I want you down here yesterday. Don't you dare forget your dueling equipment."
This got Hunter moving as he ran around his room gathering his things and running down the stairs. "Mom!" Hunter yelled as he ran in place at the bottom of the stairs. "I must go. Nitro's at the park, and I can't keep him waiting."
Zeera walked into the living room. "You best get going then." Hunter ran outside, jumped on his bike, and pedaled off. "He at seems full of life, but it's up to Nistro to help him stay that way."
Heartland Academy
Tori stood outside of the gates of Heartland academy when Mr. Kay arrived. "Tori." The math teacher nodded. "You said you needed to meet with me, and it was rather important."
"That's right, Mr. Kay." Tori stated determined. "I want you to teach me how to Synchro Summon as well as how to duel better."
"You want me to become your duel teacher?" Mr. Kay asked surprised.
"That's right sir." Tori looked at her deck box with a frown. "I've always known my deck was incomplete. There are simply Gusto cards I don't use because they are tied to the older method of Synchro Summoning. Just like with Fusion and Ritual, it's rare to find anyone who uses them."
She then looked up at her math teacher. "Right now, as we speak, there are people after those Numbers just like Hunter and Yuma. People that they say can beat them. Anyone that can beat especially Hunter are duelist I don't stand any chance against as I currently am.
I want to be able to duel alongside my friends rather than hold them back. That's why I need to be a better duelist. I want to help them fend off these Number Hunters. Since you're the only person I know who uses Synchro Summons, you're my only hope."
"Someone is after my students?" Even if it wasn't his intention, he was also still kind of fuzzy on the details, he had caused a lot of destruction, in in his mind he owed them. "Alright Tori, I'll teach you everything I know."
Tori smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Kay!"
"Don't thank me yet because we are just getting started." He nodded with a smile. "We first need to duel, so I can see what you're made of. Meet me back here tomorrow, and make sure your deck only includes the cards you can make full use of."
"Right!" Tori declared.
Tsukumo Residence:Yuma's Room
Yuma sat on his bed thinking while Astral did the same from a higher position.
"Even with that new Shining Evolution, I lost." Yuma opened his eyes. "Kite's in a whole other league, and if Hunter's reaction to him is any indication, this Shay guy is right up there with him."
Astral opened his eyes. "It is my fault we almost lost to that Number Hunter. If the duel had not been stopped, then I… I would have vanished from existence." He looked at his hand. "Whatever my mission is would have gone unfinished."
Yuma grit his teeth and stood up. "You know, something seriously needs to change here Astral. You've just been staring at walls all this time and making bummer comments." He turned to Astral. "Listen, avoiding these Number Hunters isn't an option.
Not for me, you, or Hunter. They'll come for us, and we need to be ready. The problem is, I can't seem to reach you or Hunter. Come on, you're supposed to be the guy giving speeches when we need them." The door to his room opened revealing Yuto. "Hey, what are you doing here?"
"Tori asked if I'd come check on you." Yuto responded. "Since Hunter will hopefully be whipped back into shape by our former teacher, I told her I would." He held up a pad. "Anyways, you should look at this."
He showed him the WDC promotion on his D-Pad.
"Would Duel Carnival?" Yuma asked.
"It's a huge tournament that'll be held here in Heartland." Yuto nodded. "Rumor has it that duelist from around the world are being invited while anyone is welcome to enter themselves."
Yuma looked at the promotion completely serious. "I bet Kite will be there."
"What's wrong?" Yuto asked. "Where's all your 'Feeling the Flow' and 'High Five the Sky' stuff at?"
"Yuma." Haru entered the room and plopped down a big bag of food. "I need you to take these to a friend of mine who lives out of town. There's a note in there to."
"Might as well just get this over with." Yuma knew there was no use in arguing. "See you around, Yuto."
"I'd offer to come with, but there's something I got to handle here." He suddenly remembered something and took out a card. "By the way, it occurs to me that Hunter got you an early birthday gift, so I did the same." He threw the card to his friend. "Put it to good use."
Yuma caught the card, but he looked after Yuto who walked out the door. "I wonder if he means trying to find Shay or Kite?" He looked at the card before putting it into his extra deck. "Guess I better get going on grandma's job."
Park
Hunter ran to the duel field where he found Nistro waiting. "I'm here sir."
Nistro glared at him. "Activate you D-pad and Duel Gazer."
Hunter stepped back. "What!?"
"I'm not messing around Hunter. Do as I instruct." Nistro commanded. "If not, you can start running laps around Heartland until you drop."
Hunter knew his teacher meant it. "I'll duel"

(Hunter 4000/Nistro 4000)
"You're going first Hunter." Nistro declared.
Hunter gulped and looked at his hand. "I set one monster and a card."
"Pathetic." Nistro drew. "Since you control a monster, and I do not, I can special summon Heroic Challenger-Halberd(LV 4/1800/300)." The warrior decked out in purple armor and wielding a halberd appeared.
"I activate Heroic Chance and use it on Halberd. This doubles his ATK, but he cannot attack you directly. Not a problem when you have a monster, and mine has piercing. I'm also betting that face down isn't anything special.
Now, Halberd destroy that monster (Hunter 700/Nistro 4000)." Nistro destroyed Hunter's own Halberd. "That's not all. When Halberd inflicts damage, I can add a Heroic monster from my deck to my hand. It's your turn."
Hunter got up panting. "I-I…"
Nistro stomped his foot. "Don't you dare say you can't Hunter. I made you swear never to say those words the day I became yours and your brother's teacher." He was furious. "What happened to you? Where has your confidence gone?"
Hunter gripped his head out of frustration with himself and this situation. "…"
"Answer me!" Nistro demanded. "Where is your confidence?"
"…"
"Hunter!" Nistro shouted.
"I never had any!" Hunter shouted. "The simple fact is I'm a scared boy pretending to be a confident duelist. I'm not a true duelist. Not like Yuma or my brother. I'm still that kid who couldn't even stand up to a girl that was bullying him.
That same kid who was too afraid to climb down a tree well after she left. That same kid you had to rescue." Hunter collapsed to his knees. "Everything's been an act." Tears cascaded down his cheeks. "I'm week and pathetic.
Always have been. I couldn't make friends until I put on a front. The person I fooled most was myself. I believed I changed. What a joke. I believed I could be more than what I am. What a fool. I'm just average compared to others."
Nistro crossed his arms. "Is that what you think?" He sighed. "Whether or not the bravado was fake, it's not anymore." Hunter looked at his teacher. "You've been overconfident, but that doesn't mean every ounce of confidence was fake.
You got me to accept you as my student. Later, you convinced me to take on your brother as well. You learned all I had to teach. You overcame your fear of heights. I don't even know everything you've accomplished, but you do.
Don't compare yourselves to others because no one expects you to be anything but yourself. Now push past your fear as any true man should. Rethink what you've done. Then, look deep inside yourself and declare what your dream is."
Hunter went wide eyed as he looked at the ground. Images of everything he achieved came to mind. Getting Nistro as a teacher. Overcoming his brother. Becoming friends with Yuma and Tori. The Numbers he obtained. Helping Shark, Nelson, and Mr. Kay.
Yeah, he lost to Shay and lost his way. No longer. The fact remains that he still has his soul and can try again. What would giving up accomplish? Nothing. Shay and Kite would still come after him. He couldn't run forever. He wouldn't.
Hunter stood up as his inner fire had been lit. "My dream is to become a World Dueling Champion!" He placed his hand over his deck. "This duel is a sorry display, so I concede victory in hopes of having a true duel later."
(Hunter 0/Nistro 4000)
"Don't you ever forget this day." Nistro walked up to Hunter. "I'll be expecting you in the World Duel Carnival because if anyone's going to take your Numbers…" He walked past Hunter. "… it'll be me in a fair and honest duel."
"You…" Hunter stated shocked.
Nistro looked back at him. "When the time comes, I want to beat you at your absolute best."
"Wait! You're a Number Hunter to?" Hunter questioned. "Do you work with Shay and Kite?"
"In a way, I do." Nistro stopped. "Imagine my surprise when you turned out be a Number Hunter yourself."
"Nistro, thank you for everything, but don't think for a second I'll hold back." Hunter voiced. "I'm winning the World Duel Carnival and keeping my Numbers."
"That's the spirit." Nistro smiled. "Keep that fire lit no matter the outcome."
Nistro walked off leaving Hunter with more determination than ever before. Once he could no longer see him, The Heroic duelist decided to head home.
Stairs: Evening…
Yuma had been climbing up a large set of stairs for a good while now and was certainly tired. Astral simply sat atop his bag, with his eyes closed, contemplating.
Yuma stopped climbing and fell to his knees. "Every time I think we're at the top, there's just more stairs. It never ends." Eventually, he got back to his feet and continued trudging up. "Still, if I turned back now, I'd just have to lug this back and face grandma."
That last thought was more than enough to get him running up the stairs.
Top of the Stairs
Yuma made it to the top only to find an old sanctuary. Then, a man with black hair, fair skin, and golden eyes stepped out. He wore a purple top hat with green goggles, a red jacket with purple lining, and red pants.
He looked at the Syllable user before smiling and bowing. "You must be Haru's grandson." He stood up. "You certainly arrived earlier than anticipated, but that's good."
"I'm confused." Yuma stated. "Aren't I just here to deliver food."
"Everything will be explained shortly Yuma, but I find conversation easier after a good meal." The man nodded. "By the way, my name is Yusho Sakaki, and I can assure you the fun has just begun."
Raiden Residence: Night…
Hunter laid in his bed staring at the ceiling; however, this time it wasn't melancholic. "I need to become a stronger duelist, but I'm not sure how."
As if that thought were the magic words, his pendant glowed brilliantly white drawing the young duelist's attention before all he could see was whiteness.
?
Hunter blinked his eyes a bit before he could finally see and recognize he was no longer in his room. Truly, he doubted he was even in Heartland. Looking around, he was in a vast, dull white space with three others. All he could make out were two things about them.
They were the exact same body type as him while two were black as a cloudy night in the middle of barren country, and the last was white as freshly fallen snow. Hunter could clearly see himself though he was glowing white. The other three were looking around as well.
"Hello?" Hunter questioned confused.
He knew his pendant glowed and likely had something to do with this just like Yuma's key had something to do with the two of them ending up before that door. What he didn't understand was what this was or who these four were.
The others seemed to look at him, but he couldn't tell if they said anything. Almost at the same time, they tried to approach one another, but some invisible barrier kept them separated. Hunter wondered if this was maybe why they couldn't hear one another.
Suddenly, the smokey whiteness rolled in obscuring everything and quickly rolling back. Now, those three other figures were gone leaving the Heroic user alone. At least this time he was on a dirt road surrounded by strips of grass to the side.
Just ahead there was a gate with a blank ritual card imprinted on it, and the gate was one with iron bars allowing him to see a different person within. They wore full on armor styled after a dragon, and the same color was that of a ritual monster.
"What is all this?" Hunter thought. "For that matter, just where am I?"
A man as tall as Hunter suddenly faded in just before the gate wearing black cargo pants with light green lines down the side, a black undershirt, and a black blazer with light green accents. He also wore a black hood, with a light green line, down the center obscuring his face.
"Well met, Hunter Raiden." The man stated. "You have experienced the greatest change opening this trial to yourself and three others. This is The Road of Summons, and it contains a great deal of potential. If you traverse this road, the door to other summoning methods will open to you."
"Other summoning methods?" Hunter asked. "You mean Ritual, Fusion, and Synchro?"
"There is also further you can go with Xyz, but that is up to your discovery." The man informed. "Three gates await you, and each will issue a duel challenge using the new summoning method. To garner the method, you must overcome the challenge."
Considering he got Number monsters from some demonic looking door; it was relatively easy to take what was happening in stride.
"Well, I have been looking for a way to up my game, but what happened to me?" Hunter asked.
"You do not need to worry as you will be returned from once you came with no time having passed." The man stated. "If you ever wish to return, simply state as such. To return here, simply say, 'Open the door to potential' while clutching your pendant."
"I'll choose to believe that." Hunter began to look around. "Though, I got to know just where…" When he turned back around, the man was gone. "Guess he didn't want to stick around which does make me weary of this being true. Still, there doesn't seem to be any harm in trying."
Hunter approached the gate, and it automatically opened admitting him. He then came to stand across from the blue armored knight whose yes glowed before he moved forward as well. When he spoke, it was with the voice as Hunter.
"My name is Ritual, and we shall partake in a Concentration Duel." Ritual informed before pulling out a deck and fanning it out to reveal a copy a Heroic deck with Ritual monsters, spell, and trap. "Concentration Duels require a minimum of 10 monsters, spells, and traps."
A table appeared and Ritual shuffled his deck before scattering it along his side of the field face down. "We then put our decks on the table as I've demonstrated. All previous zones exist; however, neither duelist has a hand. Instead, three times a turn we choose one card.
Then we can declare one action with that card. Summon monster, activate spell, and activate trap with the latter two being able to be performed on your opponent's turn. For the action to succeed, the card must be the type for that action. If not, the card is flipped back down where it was.
In addition, that selected card and action become unavailable for the rest of the turn. Any extra deck methods can be performed as they normally would. Do you understand the rules, or should I explain them again?"
"Nah, I understand well enough." Hunter took out his deck and scattered it over the table. "Let's play but don't hold it against me if I end up making a mistake."
"Understood." Ritual declared.
"Duel!" Both declared.
(Hunter 4000/Ritual 4000)
"The first turn is yours." Ritual declared.
"Very well." Hunter picked a card. "I declare Summon Monster." He flipped the card and smiled. "I normal summon Heroic Challenger-Morning Star(LV 4/1500/1300 effect)." A warrior in blue and bronze armor appeared.
"Next, I'll declare Activate Trap." He picked another card, but it turned out to be the spell Assault Armor which he flipped back down before moving onto another card. "Then, I'll Activate Spell." It was the trap Enchanted Javelin, so he put it back down. "I end my turn."
"I'll Activate Trap." Ritual declared before flipping a card revealing the trap Banishment Ritual. "This card is a risky one, but well warranted for this type of duel. First, I select one Ritual monster from my deck and reveal it.
I choose Heroic Champion-Lightning. Then, you get to special summon two level four or lower monsters from your deck while I banish cards from my deck or grave equal to the level of the Ritual Monster I wish to summon. Once that is fulfilled, I can Ritual Summon it!"
"So, that card there is a Ritual Monster for a Heroic deck." Hunter nodded. "I summon Heroic Challenger-Spartan(LV 4/1600/1000) and Heroic Challenger-Assault Halberd(LV4/1800/200)."
A warrior decked out in golden armor appeared alongside a warrior in dark purple and blue armor before eight cards vanished from Ritual's side.
"With those cards summoned and the eight cards banished, I Ritual Summon Heroic Champion-Lightning(LV8/3000/2500)." A warrior in gold armor appeared wielding a lightning bolt. "When this card is Ritual Summoned, it can attack all monsters you control, once each, per turn."
"It has that kind of power!?" Hunter exclaimed in shock.
"It does, but I'm putting that off to see about activating a few more cards to end the duel now." Ritual declared as he went for another card. "I choose Activate Spell." Ritual flipped the card revealing a proper spell card. "I just flipped Magnum Shield.
This can only be equipped to a warrior and works differently depending on what position said warrior is in. Since Lighting is in attack mode, he gains ATK equal to his DEF." Heroic Champion-Lightning(LV8/5500/2500 effect). "Now, I attack your monsters with Judgement!"
"First, I activate Spartan's effect allowing me to target a Heroic Challenger I control and have him gain ATK equal to that monster's ATK." Hunter declared. "I target Assault Halberd." Heroic Challenger-Spartan(LV 4/3400/1000 effect).
Next, you seem to have forgotten, but I earlier revealed Enchanted Javelin. Since all cards go where they last where, I can simply target that card and say Activate Trap. Now, this card allows me to target an attacking monster and gain life point equal to their ATK. Lightning is the target."
Hunter was awash in golden particles (Hunter 9500/Ritual 4000).
"That won't save you!" Ritual declared. "You're 300 life points shy."
"I'm aware, but I have one more viable, action this turn." He put his hand over an unknown card. "Within that pool of cards, there are a few that can save me, so I Activate Spell!" He flipped the card revealing Emergency Provisions.
"I'll take it! This spell allows me to destroy spell/trap cards on my field and gain 1000 life points foreach. My only target is Emergency Provisions." The card disappeared, and he was once more bathed in golden particles (Hunter 10500).
Then, the lighting bombarded his monsters starting with Extra Sword (Hunter 6500/Ritual 4000). Assault Halberd (Hunter 2800/Ritual 4000). Finally, the lighting came down upon Spartan (Hunter 700/Ritual 4000)."
"Well, you managed to survive, but you won't be lucky next turn." Ritual stated. "I end my turn."
"There won't be a next turn because I'm ending the duel this turn." Hunter declared. "Things might have started off rocky; however, this Heroic deck is mind. Not yours, Nistro's, or anyone else's. That's why the next cards I play will lead to my victory!"
"Do you really think you can make good on those words of yours?" Ritual asked.
"Oh, I'll make good on them." Hunter declared determined as he moved his hand to the first card. "It all starts with Summon Monster!" Hunter flipped Heroic Challenger-Double Lance (LV 4/1700/1000)."
A warrior in white and light blue armor appeared. When used for the Xyz Summon of a Heroic Champion monster, this card can count as two materials, so I construct the overlay network. Golden sentinel that protects his fellow warriors, arise!"
Xyz Summon Heroic Champion–Claivesolish(R4/O1/2500/2000)." A tall, golden warrior with a massive sword appeared before Hunter moved to another card he knew. "Next, I activate Assault Armor.
This spell can only activate if I control only one warrior monster. They gain 300 ATK, so I'm equipping it to Claivesolish; however, I'll then immediately send Assault Armor to the grave allowing Claivesolish to attack twice this turn's battle phase."
"Heh, are you really willing to bet everything on this?" Ritual asked. "You said it yourself that this is your deck, so you know the cards in here. The ways it can counter you. Even if you avoid those cards, there's others that could protect me."
"That's true." Hunter admitted. "There's every possibility that I could lose weather it's through a trap you play or what you could pull off next turn; however, that's a duel. The potential for loss is always there. All I can do is play the cards to the best of my ability.
Here I come. Heroic Champion–Claivesolish(R4/O0/8000/2000 effect) will attack Lighting and detach his only overlay unit granting him an ATK increase equal to Lightning's ATK. Go, Golden Copy!"
Ritual moved his hand to a card. "Activate Spell!" All he got was Heroic Challenger-Morning Star, so he moved to the next. "Activate Trap!" All he got was Heroic Challenger-Extra Sword. "Heh, looks like I'm out of moves."
Claivesolish crashed into Lighting (Hunter 700/Ritual 1000). "Even so, you won't be destroying this monster at least, because I activate his last effect. Any one time per turn Lighting would be destroyed, it's not."
"Well, you at least got that on me, but Claivesolish will now end this by attacking Lightning one more time (Hunter 700/Ritual 0)!"
The table vanished, as did Ritual's version of the Heroic deck, while Hunter's returned to where it had been. The blue, dragon armored being took a knee as the human approached.
"You have bested the first trial and earned the cards you will receive." Ritual stated as his eyes dimmed. "In my opinion, you can go the farthest the quickest down the path of these alternative summoning methods."
Before Hunter could speak, the armored man vanished leaving five cards. The first two were Banishment Ritual and Heroic Champion-Lighting. The other three were Heroic Challenger-Ritual Armor, Heroic Ritual, and the level 12 Ritual Heroic Champion-Lightning Supremacy.
He slid the cards into his deck box, yet away from his deck since he didn't feel confident using a whole other summoning method. Even after seeing it in action, he realized it would take time to perfect them. Hunter's eyes then drifted to the next gate which had a fusion card on it.
Crow38: Glad you liked it and rest assured I fixed the issues.
