Chapter 5: Help?

Skylor...missing? That's not a good thing. Other than Lloyd, she's Shadow's biggest threat.

We were silent for many moments, staring at one another. Finally, someone broke the silence. "What do we do? If Shadow has her, and the other elementals, that can't be good." Cole said.

"Hmm. If he has her, it is possible that he has the other elemental masters as well." Zane said, "I will contact Pixal." He climbed up the rope ladder, and disappeared over the Bounty's railing.

"So Shadow's aiming after the elemental masters? That's still...kind of... worrying." I said.

What could he be planning? No wonder we haven't heard about anything from him...or the elemental masters in a while...

"We need to see if there's anyone who can help. Zane is getting in contact with Pixal, my mom, and Wu. Let's just hope we can stop whatever Shadow is planning." Lloyd said, before climbing the ladder himself.

We climbed up the ladder as fast as possible. I wasn't sure what Shadow was planning, but he's certainly been planning it for the last month, and it most likely ends up in my death, whatever the case. I just hoped I could stay out of trouble long enough to survive.

When we got there, Zane had his eyes fixed onto one of the monitors, his brows pressed toger in concern.

"I cannot reach Pixal, nor anyone else at the monastery." Zane said, concern filling his tone. Without warning, the screen and radio was filled with static. The screen lit up, showing the underground base hidden in the monastery. And the person standing in front of it made my blood simultaneously freeze and boil. I shrunk backwards slightly, and immediately hid behind Lloyd. The one standing there, with Pixal knocked out and Misako and Wu tied up with rope and Vengestone chains, was Shadow.

A cruel smirk was the first thing I noticed. The next was the fact that he was glaring at me. And only me. With a burning hatred that I had never seen before. Sure people hate me sometimes, I bet, but that look of pure anger, jealousy and hate was something I had never seen.

If looks could kill...sheesh...

He scoffed. "Apparently, you're a coward. Hiding behind a bunch of ninja who seem to almost let this world fall. You don't seem to get it do you. You can't run forever. I killed your family, and several others. They never got the chance. What makes you think you can?" His red eyes gazed into mine with an evil smirk plastered on his scarred face. I clenched my fist.

That...idiot! Don't you DARE mention my family, y'know, the ones you KILLED!!

I narrowed my eyes. I took a deep breath and steadied myself, trying to gather all the bravery I could muster. "Why do you want me dead anyways? Unless you've killed so much that your running out of interesting things to do." Despite how much I tried, my voice still trembled.

"Hmmm. If I told you, it wouldn't be nearly as fun, would it?" His hand came into frame, and he held a knife, stained with...fresh blood. I instantly hid behind Lloyd again, gulping, and terrified. "I have my army on your tail. I hope that little toy of yours can survive missiles." With that, the screen clicked off.

Instantly, we felt the Bounty shake violently. I was knocked to the floor.

"Oommpfh!" I felt my chin hit the ground.

Owww.

Cole helped me off the ground. "You ok?"

"Thanks. And...no, I'm not really ok...at all."

"What was that!!?" Jay asked, panicked.

"I think we have more than missing elementals to worry about!" I said. We all ran out to the balcony to see maybe twenty or more people in medieval assassin's outfits heading our way. A small missile had lodged into the hull of our ship, creating a smoking hole from which it had landed.

Lloyd ran to the wheel, and used a lever to launch the Bounty forward, steering the ship away from the mass of killers. I then heard shouts from behind. I looked back and saw at least five assassins launching onto the deck of the Bounty.

"Uhhh guys? I think we may have a problem!" I yelled.

"Don't worry. We've got it." Kai yelled. Zane, Cole and Jay followed suit.

"Galaxy, grab your Holo-tanas!" Lloyd yelled.

"Wait, I can't fight! I've never learned!"

"But you wanna live, right?!" He asked.

I hesitantly pulled out my blades. I didn't get time to train with them, but at least they might come in handy. I activated them to battle mode, and it made a 'vwoom' sound, very similar to a Lightsaber. I flinched as I heard a few 'thump' noises at the stern.

"This isn't good..." Kai said. Five more 'Shadow soldiers', as I started to dub them, were at the bow. One of them launched at me. I got one of my swords in a defensive position and played offence with the other. This guy had a katana, and both weapons clanged together. I ducked as another Shadow Soldier tossed a throwing knife at my head. It pinned itself in the wall.

Oh shoot. That could have been me.

I felt adrenaline kicking in, and I did everything to keep up with the Shadow soldier's movements, if only because I was somewhat good at blocking.

This soldier was giving me a hard time. He was incredibly strong, and I was barely holding up. The only reason I was holding up had been because I was filled with adrenaline, at least, in hindsight. My heart thumped rapidly as he removed his katana and quickly swung at my legs. I barely blocked and dodged, panicked. I jumped out of the way as two more knives found its way into the wall. One of the soldiers grabbed me. I yelped.

"Guys, a little HELP!!" I said in a half-strangle, half-screech noise.

The soldier threw me into a wall. Pain hit my shoulder, as it hit the wall first, taking the blunt force of the impact.

"Ooomff."

Uggg that.. was.. good hit

I gasped as a katana pinned into the wall, centimeters from my head, promptly chopping off a little piece of my blonde hair. I got up, winding my way around the soldier and ran, using my new blades as shields. Within seconds, I saw the soldier get electrocuted.

"Thanks Jay!" I said, breathing hard as my legs ached.

"Your welcome!" He replied as he ran off to help the others. Zane meanwhile froze multiple other soldiers. Kai was using the fire as another mode of attack, and Cole was using his super strength to knock the assassins off.

Thunder rang out in the air, and rain fell. We had been too busy to realize a storm had rolled in, causing Lloyd some difficulties in flying the Bounty.

Speaking of which, Lloyd had one soldier on him, trying to mess up the steering and slow down the Bounty.

"Get off!" The Green ninja was winning, as he was using some of his elemental energy to attack, resulting in a green tinted band of lightning to shock the assassin.

I blocked a few more attacks as the ninja plowed throught the numbers of soldiers.

Finally, the last few ran off, and the ones that had gotten shocked ran off last. I deactivated my Holo-tanas and put them away. Lloyd propelled the Bounty even faster. Rain started to pelt the roof.

"This isn't over yet!" He said. Kai looked over the railing.

"Yep, they're definitely chasing us!" Kai shouted. They were chasing us. And they were quick too.

"Why don't they just give up already?" Lloyd groaned.

"Because bad guys never have the bright idea to quit?" I asked.

"Your probably right on that one." Cole replied.

"That means we're not getting help from the elemental masters, or anyone else for that matter." Jay said in frustration, before looking at the floor. "If only Nya was here.."

I looked at him with a saddend expression. I hoped he would be ok. Nya wasn't dead. She would return...right? She had to remember.

We might be the only ones left, unless...

"Do you guys think Ronin could help us. Doesn't he have a bunch of bounty hunter gear that could help? Couldn't he track down an assassin?"

"I suppose so, although, he doesn't exactly have the 'best' track record in helping us." Lloyd said with a sigh. "It might be our only chance though. He's the only one available. And if we can figure out if there's anyone else to help us, we can try to get to them. Stixx isn't too far away. We can outrun these guys." Lloyd jumped the speed up a few notches, causing me to lose balance and nearly topple over.

Ok, maybe a little too fast.

We outran, or 'outflew', the Shadow Soldiers fairly quickly. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to see Stixx or not. I remember Stixx being filled with a bunch of rough and tough people, and probably pretty selfish ones too. At least, that's what I got from watching the TV show. On one hand, Stixx might be interesting. On the other, it might be dangerous.

It took the better half of an hour to get to Stixx. The city was made out of mainly docks and buildings on stilts above the water. A crack of Thunder rang out once again, and this time, a bolt of lightning could be seen.

"Let's go and find Ronin quick, before we run out of time." Kai said.

"I agree. We have limited time before they find us." Zane replied.

We left the Bounty floating above us while Zane stayed aboard to watch the Bounty.

We ran through several wooden streets, until I saw a medium sized, according to the buildings in Stixx, house that led into a shop. We walked into the shop. There were many things lying about on the floor, in barrels and on shelves. Namely, there were lanterns, swords, guns, maps, clocks, other types of weapons, jars of various things and items, trinkets, and more. Most of them were probably illegally traded or stolen., possibly through a type of Black Market. It seemed cozy and interesting though. Lots to see.

If we had time, I might explore a bit. But, my life is kinda on the line. Possibly all of Ninjago's as well.

"No loitering. Or I'll have to kick you out." I heard Ronin's voice come from upstairs. He came down, a stack of boxes that went as high as his hat was in his hands. Once he set the box down, he noticed exactly who had waltzed into his front door. "Oh, it's you ninja. What is it this time?" He asked with a small yawn. He then lifted a brow. "And who's she?" He nodded his head in my general direction.

Lloyd stepped forward. "Some guy named Shadow has captured the elemental masters, and is chasing us. About a month ago, Galaxy was chased by Shadow into Ninjago. It turns out the multiverse is real. Shadow wants to kill her for some reason, and has a bunch of assassins chasing after us. We figured since you were a bounty hunter, you could be able to help."

Ronin sighed. "What about Misako, or Wu, or the serpentine? Or anyone else? I kinda have a business to run." He said as he proceeded to go through the boxes.

"We need your help. You captured us once. We're ninja. You can catch an assassin, right?" Jay said.

"Look, I wish I could help, but I can't"

Can't? Or won't?

"Like you said, your ninja. Don't you think that you can handle this." He said.

"That's just the thing. He has an army!" I said, finally joining the conversation.

"And what difference would I make. I am NOT an army. You're loitering. So leave or I can make you leave." He said. I noticed he had a weird scent on his breath. Alcohol. He was a drinker.

Seriously?!?

I sighed.

"Why, exactly, can't you help? If there's anyone suited to catching an assassin, it's you."

"I can't. Besides, I have my shop to run, and I don't particularly like helping the ninja."

"Look, my life is on the line here. And if we don't get as many people as we can to help us, there may not even be a business to run!" I objected. He turned to look at me. "Shadow wants me dead and I have no idea why. He killed multiple of my friends, teachers, and my family. Ninjago is also at risk. Please help us? I know it's a lot to ask, but we need help."

Ronin sighed heavily. "Fine, what can you offer me?" He asked.

"Huh?"

"Well, I need payment. Things like these aren't easily obtainable you know." He said, indicating the things he held in his shop.

I glanced at the others. Kai shrugged.

"We don't really have anything." Cole said.

"Wait." I turned to Kai. "Would Skylor be able to give him free noodles?"

"Yeah. I think she could do that."

"And Jay, do you think your parents at the junkyard can give him stuff to upgrade his gear?"

"Sure. That's all free anyways."

I turned to Ronin. "So? Would that be enough to convince you?"

He snorted. "Not a lot, and NOT what I was hinting at, but it might do. I could resell the junk I don't use. I'll accept."

"Alright, let's go. We don't have much time." Jay said.

Ronin grabbed some of his supplies. He followed us to the Bounty, and we all started to board. My hair was already soaked from the rain.

"Uhhmm, guys? I think we're out of time." Kai said. Shadow Soldiers were winding their way through the streets.

"Run!" Jay yelled. We bolted to the Bounty and climbed up as fast as we could. Lloyd started up the Bounty, and we launched into the air, Ronin climbing the ladder and finally getting over the railing. We started to fly forward as fast as the Bounty could manage. The Bounty violently shook as something large and heavy made impact.

"I think we're hit!" Lloyd yelled.

Cole checked the Bounty. "Uhhmm. I don't know if anyone wants to hear this, but our engine was hit..."

Oh great. Of course it was.

Zane scanned the ship. "We will be able to fly for a little while longer. I suggest we find a safe place to land."

"Alright then. Let's get rid of these guys." Lloyd said, glancing at the Shadow Soldiers. The Bounty sped up, and we quicky lost them. We were soon flying over the ocean, trying to find somewhere, anywhere to land. Thunder cracked and the dark clouds became heavier as rain fell even harder. After a half an hour, an island came into view.

"Finally. Somewhere we can land and fix this thing." Kai said.

We then heard a large 'boom'. Everyone froze.

"That...was the...other...engine." Cole said.

The Bounty started to dip downwards, and I felt my stomach drop.

"Prepare for a rough landing!" Lloyd yelled. I immediately gripped the wall as I felt the gravity around me loosen as we free fell, and I felt my stomach jump to my throat.

No no no..please no!

Terror filled my thoughts as my mind swirls with panic. I felt the same feeling I felt when on that Panic Plunge amusement park ride. I soon felt impact, cold, and wet all around me as we crashed into the water.

I struggled to swim and get air. My lungs started to ache. As I swam blindly, I hit my head on something as the Bounty floated on its side, and everything went black.
