The Answers You Gave

I would really like for us to try.

That was the first answer you gave me after about six years of constant bickering. We couldn't continue like this, otherwise things might come to the point where it would have a bad influence on our jobs, and that's something I'd rather avoid.

Both of us being headstrong women, I realized I had to be the one to take the first step especially after my last blow-up.

I was amazed at the speed of the deep development of our friendship.

As in a date?

Ok, so that wasn't an answer, but once you saw me nod, your eyes gave me the answer before your lips formed the words I so hoped to receive. From that moment on butterflies fluttered freely around in my stomach…along with nerves for the date to come.

I went all the way –as in flowers, candle-lit dinner…I even kicked my ass in motion and asked her to dance with me. But then came the time to bring you back home.

Standing at your door, I gathered all my courage, and kissed you softly on your beautiful lips.

Yes.

It was a soft whisper, and at first I wasn't sure whether I'd heard correctly. But when you reached for my hand, pulled me close, and kissed me passionately I knew my ears hadn't betrayed me. I took your hand and led you to my bedroom.

All night long, I was completely mesmerized by the beauty that is you. Not only did we touch each other's body, but we touched each other's soul.

Lying in bed with you in my arms, I knew I had found my destiny.

We both love you, and we would love to have you around all the time.

–The answer to my question with which I answered your question. I was amazed at the offer, touched by your words, finally a chance at being part of a 'real' family. I couldn't stop a smile from coming onto my face.

You were still looking at me expectantly, waiting for me to answer your initial question. And I knew just the way to do that.

Without uttering one syllable, my lips conveyed the answer.

Yes Sara Sidle, yes I will!

This was the most important answer of them all, and although I was almost sure about what your answer would be, I was nervous as hell. Now we were both kneeled on the ground –your hand on my cheek, me putting the ring on your finger, sealing it off with a kiss.

You gave me all the answers, there's no question left. New ones will probably arise –there's no way to avoid that.

But I'm glad to know you'll be there to answer them.

The End
