Everything is ready and set. Time, Space, and even anti-matter have been set up perfectly by these four godlike Pokemons. But still, something feels missing, it's as if no matter how beautiful they were able to create this world, there was no one to experience it. A thought bloomed in the Creation Trio's mind, "no one", that's it, life. What they needed was life. They went to see Arceus. Little did they know that Arceus has already had "life" in its mind for centuries, and was only waiting for the three to ask as it meant readiness.

Arceus saw the trio, without a word, commanded them to create 3 (or more) new Pokemon, and so they did. Uxie-the Knowledge Pokemon, Mesprit, the Emotion Pokemon and Azelf-the Willpower Pokemon. They are called the Lake Guardians and are the template for first life.

Legend has it that the Lake Guardians reside in 3 caves of Sinnoh, Uxie in Acuity Cavern of Lake Acuity, Mesprit in Verity Cavern of Lake Verity and Mesprit in Valor Cavern of Lake Valor. Although Mesprit, as the emotion Pokemon, likes to toy with other's emotions and play stressful games with humans and other Pokemon and constantly travels all around the globe.

It is said that they guard a part of a chain that can hold the power of the Creation Trio, this chain was given right after they were created and given to a "chosen one" when needed to calm the Legendary Pokemons down. The chain came in use in the "Coronet Crisis" and the time when the sky went dark with Team Galactic summoning the Creation Trio. Challenges were also used by the Lake Guardians to see if the "chosen one" was worthy enough for themselves.

Some say that Manaphy-the Seafaring Pokemon is somehow related to the Lake Guardians due to the crystal in its body and it residing in the Seaside Hollow which is also a cave in the myths. Theorists think that Manaphy might have once been a member of the Lake Guardians but what it's guarding is unknown. This reason for leaving might have something to do with Phione-the Sea Drifter Pokemon being Manaphy's offspring. I should also note that, unlike most Mythical Pokemon, there is confirmed to have been more than one Phione in the myths, but only one Manaphy, likely due to Manaphy reproducing more than once.
