Days passed after Squall's death, Aideanna crouched and prayed at his grave. Flowers were placed at the edge of the tombstone. Aideanna stood up; everyone came into focus. Quistis help the hand of a little boy who looked just like Squall.
Irvine and Selphie held hands and Zell walked over to Aideanna, who was comforting Rinoa.
"I can't believe he's gone."
"I know. I know. Oh God." Aideanna cradled her head, whispering. "I know."
Zell turned to Quistis and the young Squall incarnate. Irvine stepped up and put a hand on Quistis' shoulder.
"Take him home."
"I suppose we should all go home…"
"…To whatever's left," Selphie whispered.
They all looked in her direction, slightly nodding in agreement.
"Let's pay our last respects," Zell said finally.
As each one went up, they also faded away. Selphie was first to the grave, hugging it just before she walked away and faded. Quistis went up, leaving behind the Squall boy with tears sliding down her quivering chin. She said good-bye and faded away. Rinoa prayed, cried, whispered her love and faded. Aideanna kissed the stone and faded while Irvine tipped his hat before fading. Zell walked to the grave, biting his lip to prevent tears. Then, he straightened up and thrusted the side of his fist against his chest.
"I'm always here, Squall."
He turned on his heel and faded away, leaving the Squall boy. He began walking forth, growing older with each step. When he arrived at the grave, he was like Squall in every way except no scar lining his forehead. He knelt down to the grave, touched the tombstone and bent his head.
"Reality is just what we imagine."
He stood up and turned around, walking away regretfully, but he stopped and looked back. A figure sat on the headstone. The Squall incarnate smirked and looked away.
"Thanks for giving me your life."
Until next time…Whispered a voice.
The Squall incarnate nodded. "Yeah, until next time…Squall."
And then both of them faded away too….
