A/N: Hi. It's me. Um... Wow. Almost four years with no update on this story, huh? Huh. Yeah. Sorry about that. I've had ideas on how to continue it, but no real inspiration for it. That is, until this week when I found myself thinking about it and I decided. Yeah, this could work. Spoiler alert: It didn't work out how I was originally thinking it would work out. I'll say more at the end of chapter notes on that. But, what I will say now, is that things happened a bit earlier than I was planning four years ago. Still, four years. Wow. Anyway, enjoy the chapter.

The sun was bright on my eyes. It wasn't because I was looking at it, in fact, I had my eyes closed. Still, it was so bright. Why the hell was it so bright? I turned my head toward where I knew the window in the room to be and opened my eyes to find the curtain… was not opened. Then why? I turned my head back towards the ceiling and saw that the light was on. Who leaves the light on when they go to bed?

That didn't matter. All that mattered was my headache. Why did my head hurt so much? And why did I feel like I was having déjà vu? Seriously, the whole situation this morning felt like it had happened before. Although, some things were different. I couldn't quite place what was different, as I still wasn't fully conscious of what was the same with the déjà vu. One thing the déjà vu did tell me was that if I tried to sit up too fast, my headache would get worse. So, I tried sitting up slowly.

That's when I felt it. A weight on top of me. It wasn't too heavy, but it was across my entire chest. I was a little nervous to find out what it was, but my brain came up with things the rational side of me knew it couldn't be. Maybe Gon and Alluka had bought a cat and it had taken a liking to me and was sleeping on me. Maybe it was a towel or light, thin blanket that I had used last night.

I knew that it wasn't any of those. I knew this weight, as I had held onto it many times. It was a weight I realized I had always wanted on me like this, but was too scared to even bring it up. This weight on my chest could only be one thing. I looked down at the weight and followed it back to its source. The weight was the arm of my best friend wrapped around me as he lay, sleeping, right next to me.

How did we end up in this position? Did we… wait. Did we? I lifted the covers to peek underneath. Neither of us were clothed. How did this happen? What, exactly, happened? I can infer things based on how we're laying in bed, but… God, this much stress and thinking is making my head hurt.

I put my hand to my head - harder than I had wanted to, actually, but what hurt the most wasn't my headache growing because of that, nor was it the flesh of my hand hitting the flesh of my head. What hurt the most was the felling of metal against my head. I brought my hand back to examine why I had felt metal. My eyes widened in surprise by what I saw on my finger.

"A… ring?" I said, softly and groggily, as I was still just waking up.

This must have disturbed Gon, because I felt him move right next to me. I waited for him to open his eyes, but instead, he just cooed softly and sunk his head deeper into my side. I was confused on so many things now. However, I had to admit that it did feel pretty nice. It felt like I had Gon all to myself without Alluka around. Just like it had been for the year before that 'top secret' Hunter's Association assignment.

I was about to cuddle down with Gon, when I remembered Alluka. Where was she? I looked around the room from my laying position. I could have sat up, but that would have disturbed Gon more and I was feeling a little selfish, wanting to keep him as close as possible for as long as possible that morning. From my position, I looked toward the couch where Alluka slept- that much I remembered despite my pounding headache-but I didn't see her there.

Why wasn't she in the same room as us? If Gon and I had… done that, she probably wouldn't have wanted to see or hear. At least, I know I wouldn't have wanted her to. I clearly wasn't in my right mind last night, but Gon was and I know he wouldn't have had her sleep in the hallway. So, the only logical choice I came up with was that she was in another room.

I tried to go back to sleep knowing that, but I just couldn't. I was also feeling a little thirsty for some reason. I looked toward the nightstand beside the bed, thinking there'd be something there. Was that the déjà vu again? I found a glass next to a bottle; the glass had some sort of drink in it that I assumed was from the bottle. I picked it up and slowly, carefully, took a drink. The taste was alright, but it couldn't calm my mind about everything that was happening, so I put it back on the nightstand.

"Gon," I said while sitting up and shaking him awake, "Gon!"

Gon moaned a little, yawned and said, "Good morning, Killua."

"Gon," I began, "What the hell happened last night? Why does my head hurt? Why are we naked? Where's Alluka? And why do I have a ring on my finger?" I brought up my hand to show him the ring and pointed to it, though, chances are, he already knew about it.

"When Alluka and I got back from shopping, we came into the room and..."

Xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xX

"Gon, we need to talk." I said as soon as the door opened.

"Uh, okay, Killua," Gon said walking into the room, "What did you want to talk about?"

"Us," I said, "All three of us. And I'd rather Alluka not hear." I took a sip of the drink I had in my hand.

"Okay," Gon said cautiously. He handed Alluka a couple bags and his Hunter's license and said to her, "Take these and get a room for yourself tonight, Alluka."

Alluka gasped happily and asked, "Is it time already?"

Gon simply nodded and Alluka let out a gleeful sound before turning around and heading out the door. Gon closed the door and walked over to stand in front of the bed. He stood there, watching me finish my drink for a minute or so. He could tell that I was a little drunk, but not drunk enough to impair any decisions I'd make. (At least, that's what he told me when he recounted these events.)

I put my glass on the nightstand beside me and said, "Gon, what the fuck?"

"Huh?" Gon asked, confused.

"What the fuck is going on between you and my sister?" I asked.

"What do you mean, 'what's going on'?" Gon responded, "There's nothing going on."

"Don't give me that bullshit," I said standing up from the bed. I started walking towards him. "I'm always there, watching you two from the back. You're always smiling and laughing with each other, forgetting that I'm even there. If-" I paused, as if a lump got caught in my throat and I started feeling something wet rolling down my cheeks. "If you love her, and want to be with her alone, then I can leave and you can be happy. Just know that I-" another lump caught my throat, "I've always loved you, Gon."

Gon threw his arms around my neck and held me close. I couldn't help but wrap my arms around his body to hold him equally as close to me. We stayed in this embrace for a few minutes as I couldn't hold back the tears. After a while, I noticed I wasn't the only one crying.

"Why are you crying?" I asked through the tears, not breaking the embrace.

"I'm just so happy," Gon said, finally pulling back. "I've known for a long time that you liked me in that way, Killua."

"How did you-?" I started, but Gon cut me off.

"I'm not as dumb as you think I am," he stated, "I may not pick up every subtle clue, especially in people I don't really know or don't spend a lot of time with, but with you, the person with whom I've spent the most time with probably in my whole life. You, the person who was always by my side. With you, I notice every little thing you do. Because, honestly, I feel the same way."

"Then why are you always acting so dumb and saying stupid or embarrassing things?" I asked.

Gon chuckled, "I just like to tease you."

I looked away, since I felt my face flush a little, and replied, "Idiot."

Gon laughed again. He put his right hand on my right cheek and moved my head to face him and said, "I love you, too, Killua."

When my eyes met his, so, too, did his lips meet mine. The taste of his lips was far sweeter than the apple juice that Louis had replaced the scotch with earlier that night and also a whole lot better than the morning whiskey. Before I had any conscious thought about it, I had pushed the kiss deeper and Gon seemed like he had wanted to push it deeper, as well. We stoop in that deep kiss for what seemed like ages, what with time seemingly stopped for us, until Gon broke it apart, only a tiny string of saliva connecting us.

"Killua," Gon said through heavy breaths, "The reason why Alluka and I spent so much time shopping is because of you."

"Me?" I queried, catching my breath.

Gon broke the embrace and went to one of the bags that was in the room. He apparently didn't find what he was looking for in that bag so he went to another. Then another. The final bag he looked through was the one where he pulled something out.

"Aha!" he exclaimed, "Here it is!" He held whatever it was behind his back and walked back towards me. "Alluka and I talked about this moment. She wanted to be here for it, but I would have been too nervous in front of your family."

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

Gon then knelt down on one knee in front of me and brought a small box out from behind his back. I knew what this was; I knew what it meant. I had seen it on TV plenty of times. I knew what was about to happen, I just wasn't sure if it was real. I knew that the next words to come out of Gon's mouth were-

"Killua Zoldyck," Gon started, "will you marry me?"

I felt like I was about to faint but answered softly, "Yes, you idiot. Of course."

Gon took the ring out of the box and slid it onto my finger. He then stood up again and, this time, I threw my arms around his neck and began to kiss him. He kissed me back and then the kiss grew deep. Eventually, our kiss involved our tongues. And that's as much as Gon told me about last night.

Xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xx=-xX

It took a few minutes to process. I was engaged now. To Gon! It sort of felt like a dream had come true. Except, it was a dream I didn't know I had until recently. It was… somehow liberating to feel like this. However, that still didn't answer a major question I had brought up earlier.

"Well, that explains the ring," I said looking at it. A smile unconsciously crossed my face while I looked at it. I came back to my senses a moment later and continued, "but why are we naked?"

"Oh, we had sex." Gon said nonchalantly.

"What." I said with a shocked tone.

Gon nodded and said, "Yep. Oh, right, you probably don't remember because you had quite a bit of beer last night."

"Beer?" I asked, my shock turning to horror. "When did I have beer?"

"You called the front desk and asked for a lot of beer because we were gonna celebrate."

"Why would I ask for beer, though?" I asked to no one in particular.

"I don't know," Gon answered, "You said people drink beer to celebrate and I left it at that."

I realized, at that moment, that I really needed to cut back on watching TV. I didn't realize that being bored, waiting for your best friend and sister to get back from shopping would have forced you to watch too much of it. That, and drinking. I needed to cut back on the drinking, too, because obviously when you get drunk, you want to drink some more of a different kind of alcohol and have sex with your best friend who just proposed to you.

I couldn't tell if my thought process was due to being engaged to Gon now, having just had sex with Gon, the massive hangover from both the scotch and apparently beer, or all three. I needed a drink so I grabbed the glass next to me and gulped down the remaining liquid. At least it cleared my head a little, but I needed more than just a sip to clear it more. I lifted the bottle next to the glass to find it was empty and let out a long sigh.

"Killua," Gon said as he snuggled close to me, "let's have sex again."

"No," I replied, "I don't think I can handle it right now."

Gon pouted audibly.

"Besides," I continued, "We have things we need to do today."

"What things?" Gon asked.

I had to admit, I was just making an excuse. I couldn't tell him that my thoughts were all jumbled because of everything he told me. I had to make up something that would be seen as a good reason to not have sex. It was hard to think with my mind the way it was at the moment, but I finally thought of something when my eyes caught sight of one of the shopping bags I had brought in the day before.

"You know," I started, "things like shopping. You guys like shopping, right?"

Gon shook his head, "We finished all the shopping we needed to do, for now, yesterday."

I looked around the room for anything else and noticed a travel brochure on a table. "Sightseeing?"

"Nope," Gon responded, "We're planning to do that tomorrow."

As I was frantically searching for another excuse, there was a knock on the door and a younger man's voice said, "A letter just arrived for you today."

"Uh, thank you," I said in a loud voice that hurt my head, "Just-ow-just slide it under the door."

"Very well, sir," the young man responded.

I got up off the bed and walked toward the door. There was, indeed, an envelope on the floor. I picked it up and examined it. The seal was one used by the Hunter's Association. Neither Gon nor I had told the Hunter's Association where we were. Did Louis tell them? It seemed like the most logical answer, but I couldn't dwell on it.

"What is it, Killua?" Gon asked, standing a few feet away from me.

It was then that I was able to see all of Gon. His slightly tanned body just starting past his knees. Above that was lighter and I couldn't help but stare at him. He looked so different now, but at the same time, he looked exactly the same as he always does. I noticed a little twitch at the place where I was captivated and then another.

"Killua," Gon said, covering his area in mock fashion, "stop staring; you're getting me excited."

A flash of Hisoka appeared in my mind and I immediately blinked. "Uh, uh," I stammered, holding up the letter, "Letter. From, uh, Hunter's," I cleared my throat, "A-A- Association."

Gon immediately stopped playing around and approached, looking at the letter in my hand. "Hunter's Association? But how did they know where we were?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "Might as well open it; see what they want."

We went back to the bed and sat down at the foot of it. I held the envelope in my left hand and made a claw with my right. It's not something I do very often now, but when an envelope needs opening, it's the perfect tool for the job. I sliced the top of the envelope with my claw, left to right, and pulled out the letter. Sure enough, it was addressed to the both of us. I read it out loud.

{{Gon Freecss and Killua Zoldyck,

{{Your next mission is as follows:

{{You must capture the Cappa and place the enclosed tracker on it. You will meet up with William, a Mythical Beast Hunter to complete this assignment. William will be in {{charge of the mission and you would do well to follow what he says. It may just save your lives.

{{This mission is for the two of you alone and is of the utmost secrecy. It would only bring panic to the public to know of the Cappa. I trust you boys will know what to do. I {{have the utmost faith in you.

{{Isaac Netero

{{P.S. Congratulations on the engagement.

I could just hear that old man's laugh at the end of the letter. I was less convinced that Louis had reported our whereabouts to the Hunter's Association and more convinced that the old man just had spies and cameras everywhere. How else would he have known about our engagement-still feels weird-if not for that? I tried to hide my annoyance, anger and embarrassment that the old man was supposedly spying on us and put on my regular 'told-you-so' attitude.

"See?" I said cockily, slapping the paper, "Things."

Gon looked disappointed. "I was hoping today was just gonna be us."

I leaned in and kissed him and replied, "We have plenty of days for 'us' ahead, Gon. In fact, when we're done with this mission, I'm gonna take you to a really good restaurant I read about in one of the travel brochures. It'll just be you and me."

Gon threw his arms around my neck and kissed my cheek excitedly. "Yay! Thank you, Killua!"

I unbuckled his arms around my neck and said, "Let's get dressed. Then, we need to tell Alluka to wait in her room until we get back."

Alluka's room… That's right. I didn't know what room she was staying in. So I called the front desk, gave her description, and they told me the room she had booked for herself with Gon's license. I then called that room's number. Alluka answered and, when she heard my voice, she immediately asked a ton of questions. I calmed her excitement by saying I'd answer al of her questions later.

"Gon and I got a message from work," I explained, "So, we won't be able to hang out today. I need you to be a good girl and stay in your room, okay? There are plenty of cartoons you'd like on TV."

"Okay," Alluka said over the phone.

"I'll have a friend named Louis come check on you a couple times during the day," I said, "Be nice to him. And make sure you're dressed before he comes."

"I will," I heard through the receiver, "I love you, big brother."

"I love you, too, Alluka."

I hung the phone up and proceeded to get dressed. It didn't take very long for me to dress in a similar style to what I had worn yesterday, except, this time, I was wearing a light blue t-shirt and black shorts. Gon, surprisingly, didn't wear his green jacket. Instead, he opted for a white sleeveless shirt and green 'booty-shorts', he said they were called. He must have bought them one time when he and Alluka were shopping.

After we were dressed, I poured the tracker out of the envelope, put it in my pocket and we headed out of our room. Gon was wrapped around my arm the entire way to the elevator. In the elevator, I convinced him to just hold my hand like a normal person. It was less embarrassing for me that way. In the lobby, I noticed that the bar was open.

"Gon," I said, "let's go into the bar for a second."

"You want a drink now, Killua?" Gon asked as I dragged him behind me. "What about the mission? Can you do it when you're drunk?"

"I'm not getting a drink," I said, "There's someone I want you to meet."

I opened the door that separated the bar from the lobby and looked around. There weren't many people in there. Not surprising, as it was still morning. Behind the counter at the front of the bar, was a man I recognized.

"Louis," I said, waving at him.

"Well," Louis said, as he saw me approaching, "Mr. Rodriguez, was it? You here for another 'scotch'?"

I was confused as to why he called me 'Rodriguez' for a second , but then I remembered: 'Rodriguez' was the name on the fake ID I gave him at first. I was then surprised that he remembered the name on the fake ID. His smile when he said 'scotch' reminded me of the apple juice he tricked me with yesterday.

"No," I said without hesitation, "Instead, I want to introduce you to my-" I almost said 'best friend' out of habit, but I quickly remembered that Gon was more than just my 'best friend' now, "fiancée, Gon." I waved my free hand in front of my body towards Gon. "Gon, this is Louis," I waved my hand toward Louis, "a Hunter, like us."

"Hello, Mr. Louis," Gon said politely.

"Hello to you, too, Mr. Gon," Louis said equally as politely. "So, Killua," he turned his attention back to me, "I take it my Gran's advice helped, then?"

"Yeah," I admitted, "Even though I was sort of drunk when we talked."

"Well, that don't matter," Louis said, "'Long as you talked it out. No more jealous eyes for you, now. No, sir."

"No, sir," I repeated. I looked to Gon and added, "Not as long as I have him." I kissed him on the lips quickly.

"Killua…" Gon started, embarrassed about the public display of affection I had just shown.

I changed the topic, "Louis, do you know anything about a…" I lowered my voice so only he and Gon could hear, "Cappa?"

"A cappa?" Louis echoed in the same silent tone of voice, "Now, why would ya'll wanna know about that?"

"We got a letter from the Hunter's Association," Gon chimed in, also in a lowered voice, "We're supposed to meet someone named William somewhere and put a tracker on a cappa."

"I see," Louis said, putting a hand on his chin, "Well, from what I heard, nobody's ever seen a real life cappa before. Though, there are some who say they have, but those people're just laughed off as being too drunk and seein' a bird or somethin'."

"A bird?" I asked.

"Yeah," Louis continued, "Y'see, the cappa is a legend 'round these parts. Some legends say the cappa is a bird with claws instead a' wings. Others say it's a horse with a single horn in the center of its head. Nobody can agree on what the cappa is. So, this 'William' you're supposed to meet better have somethin' solid to go on or else you'd spend all day lookin' for somethin' that don't exist."

"So the old man sent us after a fairy tale?" I asked, my voice getting louder and attracting the attention of people in the bar.

Though, the attention quickly faded when Louis looked out to it. He turned his attention back to us and said, "Look, I'm sure Chairman Netero knows somethin' that most regular folk don't. Otherwise, he wouldn't'a sent out Hunters like you two and that William person."

"What do you mean 'Hunters like us'?" Gon asked.

"What?" Louis looked a little shocked and continued, "You mean you don't know? You're famous! You cleared Greed Island, the game most sane Hunters wouldn't even dream of playing. Hold on."

He ducked behind the counter for a minute, looking for something. When he came back up, he was holding a newspaper. He opened it up to a page and pointed to a picture: Me, Gon, and Bisky in Greed Island on the float after clearing the game. It was hard to believe that it was only a few months ago. Even more unbelievable was that there was a picture in a newspaper about it!

"How was this taken?" I asked.

Louis just shrugged and said, "Don't know. Newspaper didn't say anything about it. But, the point is that because you guys were the ones that cleared Greed Island, the ol' Chairman thinks you are the ones who can prove if the cappa is real or not. And, it's like my Gran used to say, 'Real or fake, there's no telling' 'till you get there.' And ain't that the truth?"

I thought I understood what Louis's Gran meant, but it was still confusing. I looked to Gon, who was equally as confused. We decided to not question what it meant and, instead, thank Louis for the information. There was one last thing I needed to do before we went on our way to meet William.

"Louis," I began, "My sister is spending the day in her room while we're gone. Could you check on her a couple times throughout the day?"

"Of course," Louis answered, "I'd be more than happy to help you out. But, you gotta try this new drink I just came up with sometime. Maybe your sister'd like it, too."

"Don't give my sister alcohol!" I shouted, once again attracting the room's attention.

Louis once again dispersed the attention with a look and said, "I was only teasin', man. You know I don't give alcohol to minors."

His smile and the wink when he said that didn't reassure me that he wasn't going to give Alluka any alcohol. I knew he had the ability to change any drink he wanted into another one, but it still didn't alleviate any concerns. I decided to just drop it and said good bye to Louis before making my way to the door. Gon said good bye as I started dragging him.

"Good bye, Mr. Rodriguez," Louis said, "And Mr. Rodriguez-to-be. Come again real soon."

"Shut up, Louis!" I shouted from the door before opening it. I knew it'd grab the attention of the bar and I didn't want the entire hotel lobby staring at me. This time, I dispersed the attention by shouting "What?" to the bar.

I pulled the door to the bar open and walked out, with Gon right behind. I let go of Gon's hand for a moment and pulled out the letter from the Hunter's Association, looking for a place to meet William. Unfortunately, the letter didn't say anything about a meeting place. I cursed the old man under my breath while crumpling the paper before throwing it in a garbage can that was nearby.

"Looks like we'll have to find this 'William' on our own, Gon," I said, taking his hand again.

"How should we do that, Killua?" Asked Gon.

We started walking to the front door of the hotel as I said, "I don't know."

When we walked outside, the sun was already high in the sky. We talked about where we'd look for William. Gon suggested we try the park, since he heard people like to meet there. I suggested try and find the cappa on our own and forget about William.

"How hard could this cappa actually be to find?" I asked rhetorically.

"Harder than you think," a voice said from my left.

Gon and I turned to see a man who looked to be about 40, wearing long beige shorts and a dark green shirt that looked like it could be tied at the chest with laces. This man didn't have the laces tied and the hair on his chest was clearly visible. He also wore a pair of dark sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.

"You must be the boys that're gonna help me," the man said, "Howdy. The name's William, the Outback Beastie Finder."

A/N: Okay, first off, I was thinking, this week, that there would be a lot more yelling before the confessing. It turns out that neither of them wanted to yell; they both wanted wanted to cry. Secondly, I had always planned for Gon to propose in this story. I just wasn't sure when. It seemed this was as good a place as any. Third, it was definitely Killua. Being that sloshed out of his mind? Definitely Killua. Fourth, Of course Killua would know what cartoons Alluka would like that are airing on TV. He's probably seen all of them. ((Secret Fifth: You'll have to forgive the way the letter looks. apparently doesn't like it looking different than the rest of the story.)) Fifth, Louis is such a fun character to write. Sixth, I have a feeling William is gonna be fun, too. That's all I have for now so I'll leave you with a question: Do you think Netero has secret cameras hidden everywhere? See ya! (Hopefully in less than four years, but I don't know.)
