TOMMY - THREE DAYS LATER
It's early - again - and I'm up before everyone else. It's almost like being back has triggered my old patterns. I'm sitting on the front porch steps, enjoying the coolness of the morning, cup of coffee in hand. My back's still a little tender, but it didn't stop me from going for a run this morning, Zedd's lack of ability to wake up before six however did prevent him from coming along though.
Smiling a bit as I recall his pitiful grumbling and pleading for five more minutes of rest when I got up, my mind wanders to the conversation the other morning. Hayley's right - I don't treat Zedd the same here as I do back at the castle, nor do I treat him like my past girlfriends. It has nothing to do with him being male. Here on Earth we might have to be a little more cautious, but that's out in public, not here at the house. Of course, our relationship hasn't exactly taken a normal course, either. Hell, we've never even been on a date or anything like that. Not that I need to go on a date or anything, I mean it's not as if we're in high school after all and I have to have that normal dating pattern. And that in mind what exactly would be normal for Eltarians anyway? Maybe they don't do that whole dinner and a movie kind of thing.
My thoughts are disrupted by the door opening and closing behind me. Zedd's voice is still husky with sleep when he greets me, making my heart pound. "Morning, love."
I shift on the step to make room for him. "Morning." And, oh god, he's wearing nothing but his pants. My mouth goes dry as I look him over. Too many days without mating have left me needier than usual. The small smirk he has tells me that he can feel it through the bond and probably see it in my eyes too. He runs his fingers through my hair.
"Sorry I didn't join you for your run."
"S'okay, I didn't think you would with how late we stayed up watching TV, but figured I'd ask."
"How are you feeling this morning?"
"Back's still a little tender, but much better."
"Let me see?"
"No. Every time you see it, you get upset. I'll have Pina look at it later." Just then, my now more sensitive hearing catches the distinct sounds of mating. "Much later."
We're quiet for a minute before my mouth goes on its own. "Zedd, I want you."
I feel the flare of desire through the bond before he controls himself. "Don't want you to be hurt, love."
"There's all kinds of ways that we can do it without me on my back, you know." My own voice turning husky, he groans in response. "If you're still too tired though, I understand. I mean, I can always handle things myself." Giving him a kiss, and knowing I have him as he looks ready to jump me on the porch now, I get up and stretch slowly. "I'm going to the bedroom. You can join me or not - it's up to you."
The door doesn't even latch behind me before he's through it and letting it close behind him. Once we're in the bedroom with the door closed, he pulls me close, hands on my hips and kisses me heatedly. I unfasten his pants and work them down until they fall to the floor. I wrap my hand around him, making him moan. "Thomas."
"Bend over the bed, mate." As he turns, I throw off my clothes. In a minute, I've sunk deep into him, both of us moaning loudly. My need is so strong, there is no possibility of taking my time and in a heartbeat I'm pounding into him, holding his hips tightly. Just as I'm about to lose the last of my self control, he cries out, muscles clenching around me and forcing me over the edge as well. "Zedd!"
He collapses on the bed and I follow him, careful to avoid his almost gone injury but staying in him. Still breathing harshly, my lips roam over his neck and shoulder. "Oh, Thomas, missed you love."
"Missed you too. Still need you, Zedd." To prove my point, I thrust against him. He moans as he realizes that my hormones have gotten out of control again. "Sorry, but been too long, mate."
"Way too long" he agrees breathlessly.
I start moving again. A mischievous idea crosses my mind. I growl in his ear, "Tell me how you want it. In the mood for slow and easy or would you rather fast and rough?"
"Don't care as long as it's you, Thomas." I stop moving entirely, settling my weight on him and making it nearly impossible for him to move. "Oh god, don't stop!"
Grinning and very glad he can't currently see how amused I am by his pleading, I barely keep the laughter out of my voice. "Tell me." Lightly, I bite his shoulder.
He groans. "Evil, so evil."
"I learned from the best" I purr in his ear.
"Fuck me, Thomas. Please, love."
"As you wish." I raise up off him and immediately grant his request, trying very hard not to hold him so tightly that I leave bruises on him again. In a minute, he's panting and writhing under me and man, is it hot. "Come on, Zedd. I want to feel you again."
I can't help but tighten my grip as I move as hard and fast as I can. "Thomas!" He convulses as he cries out again. I'm not quite there yet so I don't stop, don't slow down. He moans softly, my name a soft plea. "Thomas."
The almost begging is enough and I thrust deeply into him one last time. "Oh god, Zedd!" I'm barely able to withdraw and collapse on the bed next to him on my side, panting for air myself. He takes my hand and I link my fingers with his as we both catch our breath.
"So good, love."
"Definitely. You're all right, then?"
Smiling, he kisses my hand. "Couldn't be better."
Once we recover, we quickly clean up and redress and I'm careful not to let him look at my back, despite his efforts to get in a glance. I don't want him upset this early - oh hell. Realizing that we probably woke Jason with our volume, I can feel my face turning red. I curse softly under my breath. "Are you all right, Thomas?"
"Yeah. I just realized that we probably woke Jason."
"Maybe not. I believe he said something about having purchased - earplugs, I believe?"
I shake my head as he opens the door. "Oh, yeah - because we're not loud enough to get through those" I say sarcastically.
Just as we reach the bottom of the stairs, the front door opens and Jason comes in, dressed for work, but looking sober. "Where have you been, bro?"
"Had to go into the office for a little while. Boss wanted to talk to me."
Something in his tone sets me on alert. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing's really wrong, exactly, just…Let's get some coffee and we'll talk." Before we get settled, Pina and Dar join us in the kitchen.
Smiling Pina messes up my hair playfully, obviously in a good mood from her own morning tumble. "Morning love birds."
"We could call you two the same" Zedd replies sharing a smirk and look with Dar that makes me roll my eyes slightly.
"What's going on?" Dar questions finally noticing Jason's expression and my lack of commenting.
Jason looks at them. "I need to talk to Tommy about something, but if he wants, you all can stay."
He's so serious, he's making me nervous. Coffee in one hand, I reach for Zedd with the other. He takes it firmly and murmurs, "I'm here, love."
I nod at the other two that they can stay. "What is it, Jase?"
"Ever since you were - as far as the authorities knew - abducted, they've been hoping to find you alive so that you could - at the very least - give a statement about what happened at the facility." Breathe, Tommy. He takes a breath himself. "Your medical records that Hayley got were encoded with a code stolen from the government, which got my boss involved. I took a leave of absence to come and see you but in order to get it, I had to explain to my boss why I wanted it instead of trying to use office resources to find you. Basically, I told him that I had a lead that I had to follow myself."
He takes a drink of his coffee before he continues. "When I got back, I told him that I'd found you and that you were improving but still in no condition to travel. I convinced him to give me some more time so that I could 'take care of some of your affairs'. Once you came back and Mesogog was beaten, I notified him that I'd probably be back soon. He called me in today to ask about you - how you were, were you home, could you give a statement? I dodged him as much as I could, but he figured out I wasn't quite telling him the truth. He wants to talk to you, Tommy, have you give a statement and maybe even testify."
My reaction is instantaneous. "No!" I hear Zedd hiss in pain and I realize that I'm squeezing his hand so tightly that I can feel the bones move. I release him quickly, standing as I do. "I'm sorry!" to Zedd and "I can't!" to Jason and I have to get out of here. In a minute, I'm out the back door, across the yard and in the woods.
Finally, I sit down on a log. What the hell was Jason thinking? It was hard enough to tell Pina and Zedd. I've never really talked to Jason or Hayley - especially not Hayley - about what happened and I was really vague around the kids. But to have to go through it again with a complete stranger? Except for the flashbacks that I can't help, I've done my best not to think about that time. I suddenly come to an unpleasant realization about myself.
"I'm a coward."
