"Sickening, isn't it," Sokka mutters eyes focused on Aang and Katara on the dance floor, swaying slowly to the rhythm of the hired musicians. Katara's head is resting lightly on Aang's shoulder, their eyes blissfully closed, both seemingly unaware of the world around them.
"Mmm," Toph nods in agreement, before shaking her head, bangs flying about her smirking face, "Newlyweds,"
"Tell me about it," Sokka groaned, "Ah Momo!"
The chittering lemur had leapt onto his shoulder, crumbs of cracker falling onto his dress robes, which he wiped away hastily.
The two shared a chuckle standing in comfortable silence. A new song started, slightly faster than the last. Stealing a sidelong glance at the blind earthbender, a genuine grin unfurled on his features.
"Can I have this dance," Sokka asks winningly hand outstretched toward her.
Toph gave a derisive snort, turning to face him.
"…….You've got to be kidding me,"
"I need a partner, you need a partner," He gestured as though it was the most obvious point in the world, "It's meant to be!"
Toph smirked.
"Keep searching Snoozles. I don't exactly do dancing," She gestures to the floor filled with lovesick couples, "Least of all with someone with two left feet,"
"Hey, I can dance!" He proclaims with a grumpy whine.
A pause.
"…Come on Toph, live a little!"
"In your arms," She scoffs, brushing bangs behind her ear, "I don't think so,"
Sokka's eyes narrowed in offense.
"It's tradition,"
She continued to ignore him.
Changing tacks at the speed of light, he crossed his arms looking to Momo who regarded him with large green eyes.
"See that Momo, she's just too scared," Sokka shrugged as Momo chattered, "I understand it must be pretty intimidating," Sokka rolled his shoulders, brimming with self confidence, "dancing with a guy like me,"
"What?!" Toph sputtered in indignation.
Sokka's grin widened as he continued.
"You'll just have to get over your fear and dance with the most handsome guy at the par—"
"You know, you're right Sokka," Toph interrupted sweetly, her feminine hands coming toward him, "I don't know how I could've resisted this long,"
Sokka's eyes widened as he felt a blush creeping up his features.
And then he felt weight being lifted off his shoulders as Toph began spinning on the dance floor with Momo.
"Oh Momo! Run away with you?" She sighed in a dramatic, lovesick manner, "This is a dream come true!"
Sokka stood dumbstruck as Toph twirled with Momo on the dance floor, a giant smirk on her face, and he could swear he saw one on Momo too.
His scowl deepened.
The lemur had screwed him again.
