Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Horde of Horrors. Enjoy the 1000-word chapter. I don't own She-Ra, Mattel and a few others do.
(Horde Camp)
Brennus and Catra stood around a holographic map as their soldiers milled around. They continued to look around as they came up with a plan.
"The princesses have to be dealt with before we attack the rest of the city." Brennus pointed out as he cracked his fingers. "Direct attacks are just suicidal. It won't gain us anything to just barrage in and try and take everything over." Brennus said, tapping his clawed hands on his arms.
"Adora and her stupid friends aren't just going to come to us." Catra responded, her eyes narrowing seeing Adora.
Brennus closed his eyes before remembering something that he believed could help.
"She'd come to YOU." Brennus pointed out, gaining a raised eyebrow from Catra as he pressed a button. "Adora knows you. She's well aware of you and how you work… But she doesn't know how I work. If you showed up? She'd think you're up to something and go to try and stop you…." Brennus added as a hologram of the city appeared.
Catra blinked as she thought about this. Adora was ALWAYS openly cautious around her, and since she knew her former friend so well? It would help that Adora was probably eager to stop the city from being besieged.
"And what happens if she goes after me?" Catra asked while Brennus hummed.
"I'll help deal with the princesses… Lonnie?" Brennus asked as the Horde soldier slowly approached him. "You've found a command point within the city for us to strike?" Brennus questioned and got her to nod.
"So that's what you were doing with those robots…" Catra muttered as Brennus hummed.
"Lonnie will get the city to surrender. We're take care of the princesses in the meantime… At night." Brennus said and turned to Lonnie. "Get some rest and await my signal. I'll make sure they don't do anything insane." Brennus ordered as he turned to leave.
"Hey, don't forget who's in charge!" Catra hissed which got him to nod.
"I am aware of the chain of command, Catra." Brennus added, crossing his arms as he turned away. "Anyway? We will not be making any progress on besieging the city without taking care of the princesses. I'm not just going to throw everything we have at the city and hope for the best." Brennus added, walking away to talk with Lonnie and finalize their plans.
He knew enough to realize that Catra was going to be quite angry. He didn't mean to annoy her, but if they were going to overcome the princesses and their defenses? They needed a unified plan, one which didn't rely on luck.
"What do we tell Lord Hordak?" Brennus heard from one of the soldiers he passed, causing him to raise an eyebrow.
"Tell them we started winning?" Another soldier added to which he turned to said soldier. "We are busy blowing up their gate and all that, should be pretty easy to defeat. Their fleet is gone, isn't it?" The soldier added while Brennus slowly approached the soldier.
"That does not mean the battle is over, soldier." Brennus said, planting his hands on his hips. "Tell him that we're still fighting… Have either of you dug graves?" Brennus asked, his voice far more somber than before.
Soldiers had died on both sides and while Brennus was quite aware of how costly war was? Those losses were still under his command. If they were back on Voruta? They'd be buried like legends.
"No…" The soldier said, scared as Brennus hummed and turned to the side.
"Bury them, you should honor the rest of your brothers and sisters in arms." Brennus ordered as he turned to Lonnie. "A direct assault on Salinas will kill hundreds of soldiers for nothing. That is why I am going after the princesses before they do something that wipes out half our army." Brennus added while Lonnie nodded.
"I'm going to guess I should have the fleet ready to attack as soon as you give the order, sir?" Lonnie questioned and got a nod.
"Yes, and keep the scouts deployed. We need more intel." Brennus stated as he turned and walked away. "Stay here, I have a plan." Brennus added before unclenching his fists.
"You and Adora had some sort of connection before this." Brennus stated while crossing his arms. "I know how it's like to lose people close to you. Adora knows you, though. She needs to be defeated before we secure the city." Brennus put in which got a raised eyebrow.
"You know just because you're a prince doesn't mean you're in charge." Catra responded while Brennus hummed.
"Catra? I am not in charge back home because I'm a prince." Brennus responded, uncrossing his arms. "I told you why I am royal back home. I am not telling you WHAT to do, I am suggesting. Adora knows you, she will expect what you do." Brennus added, resting a hand on his hip.
"Then why don't you fight Adora with me?" Catra asked while Brennus hummed.
"Do you want me to?" Brennus questioned while Catra hummed to herself.
"Yeah, I have an idea how we win." Catra added, her fanged teeth which caused him to blink. "C'mon, the city will be trash by tonight." Catra said while Brennus hummed and simply followed after the Horde Commander.
"Do you plan on fighting them all?" Brennus questioned, already expecting the answer.
"No, just Adora." Catra said, her teeth an eager smirk.
Author notes
Phew. Another chapter done! I want to apologize for the chapter being short. I want to have the battle chapters longer. Next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show Brennus and Catra confronting Adora and dueling the princesses along with end the siege of Salinas. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
P.S: Next chapter is going to be 900-1500 words sadly for now.
