Starflight was still having small difficulties processing what had happened earlier.

A random dragonet shocked the moons out of him, and he decided to give him a tour.

"Alright, so it's just a table, shelf and assorted office stuff, and then hazardous materials?"

Starflight's eyes crinkled at that statement. It just… felt stupid. Like something to laugh at.

"Yes, I suppose. I haven't actually worked on anything here for… well, I don't know. Almost a month, I would think. It sucks. The stupid couriers still haven't delivered my package. Like, really. It's been a month! The package's, like, three bottles! How? Why? WHAT ARE THEY DOING?" he said, before it transitioned to a rant.

In response, Cometchaser merely nodded seriously, closing his eyes. "They really are holding things up, aren't they? Alright, hang on a moment." With that, he went silent for a few moments, before opening his eyes. "Couldn't see much, but your package arrives soon. No idea how soon, but soon."

Starflight numbly put that information away, before noticing that Comet (he was shortening his name, it was too long) had run off to the desk, and was sitting next to it. Starflight sighed, before heading over and sitting next to him.

"So, your powers… you can look straight into the future?"

"Yes, I can. Why is that surprising anyway?"

"It's just that I know another seer. The only other one, in fact. We thought she was the only one alive, until, well… now. Anyway, she can't just look into the future. Why can you?"

Comet was silent for a while, before finally responding.

"Where was she born?"

Starflight had no idea why he needed this information, but he mentally shrugged and gave it anyway.

"In the rainforest, why?"

However, Comet seemed to have the whole problem resolved with this one statement. "Ah. I assume it was a clearing, but maybe there were clouds or something. In other words, the moonlight didn't… what's the word? Bathe? Alright, the moonlight didn't bathe the egg the whole time. Maybe it did, so then there was less light because the leaves blocked some of it, and then maybe there were clouds. Or maybe, she was hatched under different moons. Maybe it was Oracle and Perception. I was hatched under Perception and Imperial, so I got strengthened foresight and mindreading. If it were just Imperial it would be a strengthened version of either, all three strengthened both powers of course, and so on. Oracle and Perception together give normal powers. I was also born in a flat, clear area with no clouds, and under that comet. That's why I'm called Cometchaser. Lots of light, no obstruction. Oh, and I was trained somewhat. I think that comes into play too. My parents told me they were the last ones with knowledge of the old powers and their techniques, so I don't think this other seer-slash-mindreader had any training."

Starflight just stared at the dragonet. He understood the speech well, but… it was very long.

"Oh. Sorry about the really long explanation, but… yes, that's why."

"It's just because of how long the egg is bathed, and how much light, and which moons?"

"Yes."

Is it really that simple?

"Yes."

Aah!

"Comet, stop doing that!"

The dragonet simply grinned. "You know what, I'll just teach you someday how to protect your thoughts."

He looked at the table, where Starflight's notebook was still open from before the whole shock. "You want to make a star chart? Huh. Alright, I'll bring you to my house, and you'll find out my parent's story– yes, I know you want to know it– and make a star chart. I teach you how to protect your thoughts. And I finally get a friend at my house."

Starflight could feel the loneliness in his voice. He couldn't imagine living without anyone his age: even he had friends (the other dragonets) when under the mountain. It was still boring, but… at least he still had dragons to talk to.

"Wow, you grew up in a cave. Well, trust me, you do not want to be me before today. It sucked. It was horrible!"

Starflight snorted in amusement. "I can imagine, Comet," he replied with adequate sarcasm.

Comet stared up at him. "So… are we friends now?"

Starflight smiled. "Of course we are," he replied.

"Anyway," he continued, "did I tell you about Jade Mountain Academy?"

Short but with such a great dynamic between them, it's forgivable, I hope.
