"Hey Padfoot can I borrow your owl mate?" asked James Potter, 17 year old boy with a mop of jet black unruly hair, deep hazel eyes and a long thin face.

"What's wrong with yours?" responded Sirius Black, also 17 with black hair falling down into his brown eyes.

"It's delivering a letter to my mum, what is it to you anyway it's not like you're using it or anything?" snapped James.

"Ok, ok, no need to get so snappy" defended Sirius

"Thanks mate" said James in his normal cheerful tone as if nothing had just happened

"You're mental, you know that don't you?" exclaimed Sirius looking at James as if he was a madman.

"Yep, gotta fly. See-ya" said James and with that he was gone.

"Alice, I think James may have finally gotten over asking me out he hasn't said a word to me all day" said lily Evans, 16 year old girl with graceful auburn hair that full just past her waist, emerald green eyes and a large amount of freckles.

"Wow" exclaimed Alice, lily's best friend – just as beautiful with chest length shimmering blonde hair and baby blue eyes, "That must be his all-time record!"

Just as they had finished speaking a large snowy owl landed on lily's shoulder and hooted softly.

"I think that's Sirius black's owl, why would it be delivering a letter to me?" asked lily

"I don't know, open it up and find out."

Lily open the letter cautiously incase it was a prank- 'black' being a marauder wasn't so easy to trust. When she was happy that the letter wasn't going to attack her some way she began to read, her face grew redder and redder until she shouted "CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS" and thrust the letter under Alice's nose.

It read:

Roses are red, Violets are blue

Sugar is sweet, and so are you

Stars in the sky, shining brightly

Compared to your eyes, are downright ugly.

Your hair is wonderful, all curly and wild

Red like an apple. But best is your smile!

All Alice said was "you can't deny that he's persistent" and the walked off smirking leaving lily standing there to contemplate what she had said. All she could thik was "yes, yes he is"
