- The Couch -

Daniel inserted the keys into the lock and opened the door of the cabin. Jack had invited SG-1 for the weekend at his place in Minnesota. Just because he was now settled in D.C. didn't mean they couldn't see each other again. Only Daniel and Sam had happened to be available. Teal'c had gone through the gate to see his son. Jack had also invited Cameron Mitchell, as he had been in the room when the general had mentioned the project to the rest of SG-1. Mitchell, who had recently reformed the team, had declined, due to other plans with friends. Daniel had felt that the new CO of SG-1 had maybe come up with this excuse because he hadn't felt ready yet to accept such an invitation. You couldn't just be the new one and act like you had shared almost ten years of your life with three other people.

So, here was Daniel, entering the cabin alone, as he could arrive early. Jack had given a copy of his keys to Daniel, Sam, and Teal'c last time they were here, so they could make themselves at home when they arrive and not wait outside. Daniel was grateful, he didn't want to stay outside after a long ride, even if the sun was still around. Jack's trunk being parked in front of the cabin, Daniel knew he wouldn't have to wait to have company.

"Hello!" Jackson greeted with enjoyment. He didn't pay attention to the living room for he was pushing the door with the right hand, the left holding his bag. "Jack? It's Daniel!" the archeologist announced while closing the door.

"Daniel?!" a high pitched voice rose from the living room. Surprise was perceptible in the tone.

"Jack?... Oh my God! Jack!" Daniel exclaimed and immediately turned around to the door, placing his free hand on his eyes firmly closed now, like an additional layer of protection.

Daniel Jackson was traumatized.

Jack O'Neill had just sat up straight on the couch, naked torso, utterly surprised to see Daniel. Jack pulled the sheet to make sure that it would cover the part of his body under the waist.

Jack O'Neill had been lying on the couch for some time.

With a woman snuggling against him.

Samantha Carter.

Shortly after Jack, Sam sat up, aghast, and hid as much as she could behind Jack. Like him, she wasn't clothed at all. This is why she was tightly holding the sheet to cover her breasts. In the process, a part of the sheet dangerously went away from Jack. The man held it back and looked at Sam, silently begging her not to monopolize their only protection scheme. Her look was responding something like "Sorry, Jack, every man for himself, and God for us all".

When they found a compromise, O'Neill rolled his eyes, not sure about how to handle this particular situation. He eventually started, "Well… This is… hum, embarrassing…"

"You think?" Daniel retorted, sarcastic, eyes still closed. "I sat on that couch!" he complained.

"I'll buy a new one," Jack commented, calm, as if it would wipe out Daniel's shock. The owner of the cabin realized, "By the way, what are you doing here? I wasn't expecting you till tomorrow."

"I texted you that I would come today, Jack," the newcomer affirmed.

"You didn't."

"I did."

"You didn't…" Jack hesitated. He grabbed his cell phone on the low table next to the sofa. His face changed when he read the screen. "Oh… You did..." Jack's voice trailed off.

The general put the cell phone back onto the table. The situation was completely crazy. He glanced at Carter. She was glaring at him, blaming him for not reading Daniel's message before they did what they did, and she was extremely ashamed that Daniel had caught them red handed. Jack gave a soft smile, to apologize. It didn't really work, so he looked towards Daniel's back.

"How long have you been doing this?" Jack's and Sam's friend queried, eyes opened and fixing on the door this time.

"Oh, Daniel!"

"I wasn't talking about the couch, Jack," Daniel interjected, exasperated.

O'Neill and Carter exchanged looks. The woman decided to break her silence, "I would say since I transferred to Area 51."

Jack nodded. "Yes, that's it."

Silence filled the living room. Everyone was very embarrassed. Jackson was certain he would never get over this scene. Despite this awkward situation, the civilian was happy that his friends finally did something about their mutual feelings. He just wished that he would have figured it out in a whole different way. Like normal people. At a lunch, a dinner, or another casual gathering. Looking at Jack and Sam. Hearing them officialize their relationship.

Not actually seeing them half naked on a couch on which he had seated a couple of times since Sam went to Area 51!

Daniel unfortunately glanced at his right and saw a pair of jeans on the chair nearby. The pants had been carelessly thrown up and the chair had happened to be on the clothing's way back to the floor... Daniel closed his eyes again, even more traumatized. He had to get out of here.

The guest raised his eyebrows. "Maybe I should go outside, so you could…" he said, agitating the right hand, to imply he was talking about Sam and Jack getting dressed up.

"Hum, yes," Jack agreed.

Daniel nodded and tried to open the door. He missed the handle, still in shock. He succeeded the second time and opened the door, then, vanished.

Jack looked around to spot the other pieces of his and Sam's clothes. They were all over the living room. It was true that Jack and Sam had had other priorities in mind when they had started to kiss… putting their clothes on a shelf hadn't been part of these priorities, obviously.

Jack looked at Sam. "Well, now he knows," he tried to conclude on a positive note, with a shrug.

"I'm gonna bury myself in the woods," Carter proclaimed, eyeing Jack. Then, she fell back onto the couch and hid her body and face with the sheet.

Jack glanced at the sock on the floor. What a crazy way to start the weekend...
