It's 3:30 in the morning so I'm not sure if I should write good morning or good night so good norning.
Another chapter, two for the same day because I'm trying to catch up to how many chapters I had of the original.
If you've read the original then you'll notice the set up I created in this chapter *wink wink*.
Enjoy this because I might not do another tonight/this morning.
Percy I
We were back in the rec room way too early in the morning and after yesterdays announcements the room was silent. That or it was because we were all still half asleep seeing as though it was 7 o'clock in the morning. I mean what did anyone expect? We spent all night last night cleaning and preparing to host our parents and still were expected to be up at 7 o'clock. You were not getting 17 bright eyed and bushy tailed demigods, you were getting 17 half asleep demigods.
Annabeth seemed to be wide awake though. She was quiet and I knew why. I felt guilty about being excited for today, forgetting that she did not have the kind of mortal parent I had and, let's be honest, having Athena as a mother seems stressful, too high expectations.
At exactly 7 the gods walked into the room. They, fortunately, were dressed casually and not in their godly clothes.
"Good morning demigods!" Hera smiled cheerfully. I was quite sure what she was doing here seeing as though she has no demigod children but I guess it would get lonely on Olympus without anyone to boss around.
There was a murmur going through the crowd of demigods in what, I assumed, was a good mornings.
"We have 2 hours before our mortal guests arrive and there are some things we have to go over before they arrive. Now I ask that you all keep your questions to yourselves before the end of the speech" Apollo smiled and clapped "First thing's first, I am sure you all are worried about your parents' safety here seeing as though there are things in the woods that would love to make a snack out of them so we have asked Hecate to cast a protective barrier spell around the forest only penetrable to those with godly blood. Second, there will be no demigod versus mortal fighting. There is to be no threatening of mortals. Mortals can be exhausting so I suggest if you are feeling overwhelmed and need to blow off steam then please go to the arena and find one of the Ares kids. Third, this will be fun. No ifs, ands, or butts about it. If this is not fun then I will have been on Earth for no reason for entirely too long."
The room was silent as we tried to absorb this information. I really could use coffee.
"Now," Zeus said stepping forward "here is how this will work. At 8:45 you all we be at the top of the hill to welcome your guests. Those who have parents enjoying Elysium are excused from coming to the hill but will partake in the rest of the summer's activities with their godly parent. Your parents will arrive by bus and find you on the hill where you will then proceed to take them to your cabin and let them set their belongings down and you may then proceed to show them, and us, your Camp. You will have until dinner to spend with your parents then we will all convene for dinner!"
I was honestly excited. I haven't seen my mom since Christmas and I really missed her and I even missed my little brother, James. I was hoping Paul would be here too but I worried it would be awkward with Poseidon.
"One more thing" Aphrodite turned and faced the gods, even in casual clothes she was stunning "just as we have forbid fighting between demigods and mortals there will be no fighting between gods and mortals. Most of us have had to sleep with these mortals to create our beautiful children and the chance of our mortal companions being with other mortal companions are high. I work very hard at sustaining the love in the world which means I have had some play in these relationships. I do not want to see jealousy ruin my hard work. I'm looking at the boys."
"Let's get to it!" Hera smiled and we all stood.
I wanted to see if Annabeth was okay but I noticed Athena had stepped up to her and I was still not quite in the clear on how Athena felt about Annabeth and me.
"Perseus" my dad's voice came from behind me and I turned to face him. He was dressed like an old fisherman and he smelled like the ocean which calmed any nerves I had racking.
"Hi dad" I smiled at him and his face broke out into a smile as he hugged me "and for this summer could you call me Percy. Everyone calls me Percy and Perseus just seems really formal for a family summer."
"Percy it is" he smiled again as we pulled away "how are you feeling?"
"Excited. I have always wanted to share this with my mom and Paul" I smiled as we started to walk up the hill "Paul will be way too excited and ask a million questions."
"That will probably be true" Poseidon laughed "Amphitrite is not pleased. She wouldn't speak to me for a week because she knows I cared for your mother more than just long enough for you to happen. Aphrodite actually was mainly speaking to me when she spoke about the jealousy. When I spoke to your mother about her invitation and she asked to bring Paul I had a moment where I almost said no."
"I'm glad you didn't" I said "I've missed them both."
"I know my boy" Poseidon smiled and put his sunglasses on as we got over the crest of the hill "he is good and I am happy for your mother."
We spoke for about and hour before the first white bus pulled up. We stood on the hill with the other demigods and Olympians. The doors opened and out poured a number of people to include young children. I glanced at Annabeth, who was speaking to her mother, to see her reaction but when she looked down the hill her face went straight and I wondered for a second if her dad had brought her step mother.
"Percy?" I heard my mom's voice and I turned towards it. She was quickly walking up the hill ahead of Paul, who was carrying Evan and the bags. Poseidon went down the hill and for a second I thought he was going to my mom but he passed her and took the bags away from Paul.
"Mom!" I smiled and she quickly reached me and wrapped me in a hug.
"Oh it's so good to see you!" she said "I've missed you so much! How are you? How's Annabeth?"
"I've missed you too mom" I said "and she's good. A little stressed out right now but she's good."
"I can't wait to see her" She smiled as my dad and Paul joined us at the top of the hill.
"Percy" Paul smiled and I hugged him.
"Hi Paul" I said back and stepped away just as my brother realized who was there.
"Perry!" he reached his arms out and I took him from Paul.
"Hey buddy!" I smiled and threw him up in the air to catch him "I missed you!"
"I miss you" Evan beamed at me and hugged me around the neck.
"So" Paul said, practically bouncing up and down "when do we get to see Camp?"
"Right now" I smiled back and handed Evan to my mom "and I can carry your bags down."
I took a bag from Paul and so did Poseidon. We walked down the hill towards Camp. We walked all the way down to Cabin 3.
"Welcome to Cabin 3" I smiled at my family as I opened the door "the Poseidon cabin."
We all walked in and I dropped my family's bags by the foot of the guest bed. I had made a few changes over the years. It used to feel so old and lonely so I tried to make it more homey feeling. I had taken out the bunk beds and only left one for me and one for Tyson when he comes to visit. I had the Hephaestus cabin fix the water fountain. The only thing in the cabin I felt might have been slightly unsettling to my mortal parents was my "Spoils of War" wall next to my bed. My Minotaur horn still hung there along with a few other relics. Annabeth insisted I have a bookshelf in there and I still had no idea what books she put on it, I'm still not much of a reader.
"Its beautiful" my mom said "which bed is ours?"
I had three beds brought in; one for my mom and Paul, one for my dad and a small bed for Evan.
"This one is yours" I said and gestured to the bed right next to the window so my mom and Paul could see Camp whenever they wanted "and the chariot bed is for Evan."
"Vroom vroom!" Evan giggled as my mom put him down on it. Poseidon smiled fondly at him and waved his hand so two mini horses formed in front of the chariot and that just sent Evan into a fit of giggles and laughs.
My mom was over at the wall behind the head of my bed where I hung all my pictures. I had a lot of pictures of my family and my friends from Camp.
"Who's ready to see Camp?" I asked and Paul perked up from where he was examining the horses Poseidon had created for Evan.
"Please" Poseidon said with a nod. I grabbed my pen and stuck it in my pocket from where it was on my bedside table.
"Follow me" I said and my family followed me out fo the cabin. Evan was now walking next to my mom instead of being carried.
"Okay so" I put on tour guide mode and showed my family my home. I pointed out the cabins and explained which cabin belonged to which god. I took them to the arena and showed them the list of win streaks.
"You have the highest" Poseidon smiled proudly and my smile faltered a little.
"Yes...and no" I said "There are two lists; the technical one and the one the other campers made."
"Why are there two?" Paul asked and I took a deep breath.
"Luke Castellan" I started and my dad's face darkened at the mention of his name "was the best swordsman before I came to Camp. I guess you could say I did beat him in the end but only because he dealt the final blow. I don't think it's fair to surpass his streak number when we never had a proper match. So, I purposely lose the fight that would cause me to pass him so his continuos streak stays number one. The other list is the one that other campers made. They don't count the losses unless it's to someone who would actually beat me. Currently my streak is 65."
"I'm so proud of you" my mom smiled and I smiled back at her "you have grown into such a fine young man."
"Thanks mom" I nodded and we started to walk out when we ran into three people.
"Poseidon" Athena said, no emotion in her voice.
"Athena" Poseidon greeted her in the same voice.
I recognized Mr. Chase, Annabeth's father, and I couldn't help but frown especially when I saw how awkward Annabeth looked.
"You're Athena?!" Paul asked, he was like a kid on Christmas morning.
"I am" Athena responded proudly "and you are."
"Paul Blofis, Percy's stepfather" he extended his hand and Athena shook it "I'm an English teacher."
I could tell he was trying to find a common ground with the goddess that almost hated me.
"How enlightening" Athena nodded respectfully "a very respectable profession."
"Thank you" Paul said excitedly.
"We were j-" I started to say when Annabeth's father interrupted me.
"You must be the young man that's been dating my daughter" he looked at me and I stood straighter.
"Uh...uh...yes sir" I stuttered "we've bee together 4 years now."
"Hm" he nodded and suddenly I felt really nervous "what do you do outside of Camp? Are you in college?"
"No sir" I shook my head and I could tell the air was getting thick with tension between Athena and Poseidon already not liking each other and my mom had stood up straighter when he started to question me.
"Why not?" he asked.
"Let's just go dad" Annabeth said and he held his hand up to her, which annoyed me that he had the nerve to do that to her.
"In a minute. You don't let me into your life at all and I come here to find out you've had a boyfriend for 4 years that I've never met" he looked at her.
"Actually sir we did meet. When I was 14" I said.
"Ah yes" he nodded "you were on your way to save her from whatever dangerous thing she was stuck in. If you're not in college then what do you do?"
"I'm here at camp" I said "I train others. I help Annabeth with her classes an-"
"So you're useless" he asked and I swear the sky turned darker.
"Excuse me?" Poseidon asked but I stopped him. I had hoped this day would never come or if it did I would be more prepared for it but I wasn't out to impress this man. Annabeth gave me a look that clearly said "I'm sorry."
"Sir" I said and crossed my arms "I am a hero of Olympus. I have the highest ranking of wins in the arena. I train young campers and elite campers how to win. And as long as I am breathing I will never let anything happen to your daughter. I am sorry you see me as useless but as long as your daughter wants me I will be around. I have to leave."
I kissed Annabeth's cheek and she gave me a small smile before I left.
"Percy I'm sorry" my mom said and we walked out.
"Mom" I smiled at her "I am confident in Annabeth's and I's relationship. Nothing changes that. Dad loosen up. This day is not over and it is not ruined. I have had my fair share of people not liking me and at this point it doesn't bother me."
"That's my boy" Poseidon smiled and I showed them the rest of my Camp.
I made it a longer chapter than my original version and I apologize if anyone has a different, nice view, of Annabeth's dad. I view him as a not very nice person. Not abusive but not easily pleased.
Thank you for reading. I might write chapter 3 tonight too but don't count on it because it is 3:30 in the morning and I'm starting to get a bit tired and my carpal tunnel will start acting up soon because I have now typed over 2,000 words.
Until next time!
