- Hungover -
Major Carter woke up with a terrible headache. She barely could open her eyes, she felt horribly dizzy and this nauseous sensation wasn't helping at all. She miraculously managed to fully open her eyes and see that she was back in her hotel bedroom. A silhouette was seated on the bed on her left.
Janet Frasier, fully awoken and dressed up, and in much better shape than Sam, was looking at her friend, a little amused but relieved that her friend was lying on the bed.
"Hello, Sam! How are you feeling?" the doctor queried with a smile.
"Arghh… Hi Janet… I feel like I've been hit by a truck…" Sam whispered painfully. She placed her hands onto her face. "My head's gonna explode…"
"Not surprising."
"What happened?"
"Well, you spent the whole night having fun at the slot machines and the hotel's bar," Janet started. Then, she smirked, without being noticed by Sam. "Oh, and you and Colonel O'Neill got married by Elvis," the doctor added almost offhandedly.
One second of silence followed.
"I what?!" Sam exclaimed and jumped at the same time.
Still on the bed, but very awoken now, Carter looked at Frasier, panicked. That was terrible… more terrible than her headache.
Colonel O'Neill had suggested SG-1 a short trip to Las Vegas, to forget for a few days the stress of saving Earth on a daily basis. O'Neill had made a first attempt in the early years of SG-1, unfortunately, they hadn't made it. The second attempt, five years after the beginning of the stargate adventure, worked. Janet Frasier had happened to be around when the project had been on the agenda again. The band had chosen the days where Cassie would be at a friend's house, as she was still young to make the most of the experience. Sam and Janet had promised her they would come back on her twenty first birthday.
It was supposed to be a fun and relaxing trip, and what did Carter do? First, she got drunk. Okay, she was officially on vacation, still, this behavior wasn't appropriate for an Air Force officer. Second, she married her commanding officer! Oh Jesus… They were in big trouble… How would General Hammond react? Sam respected this man so much, he had supported her so much, and she'd just betrayed him. How would her father react, learning that his daughter would be expelled from the Air Force because she couldn't control herself? Worse, she would be court martialed and sent to jail. He would be so ashamed of her. How would Colonel O'Neill react? He would be kicked out of the Air Force because of her. Maybe end up in prison, too. He would blame her so much. She could also picture Air Force people staring at her, pointing at her, and spreading rumors about her.
Sam buried her head in her hands. She wanted to cry.
No.
Janet was still around, Sam couldn't lose her dignity so easily. The major glanced at her friend, who provided the details Sam didn't want to hear right now.
"That was a lovely ceremony. Teal'c walked you down the aisle. Daniel was Colonel O'Neill's best man, I was your maid of honor."
Janet paused. Sam was horrified. The major suddenly frowned when she saw a smile appearing on her friend's serious face. Then, Sam saw Janet burst out laughing.
"What the hell…?" Sam mumbled, totally confused by her fellow's reaction. "Janet!" Sam scolded, understanding that Janet had made up that wedding story.
"Sorry Sam, I couldn't resist! You should have seen you face!" Janet said between two laughs.
The doctor heard Sam grumble, certainly she was cursing her. Janet couldn't stop laughing, proud of her. She avoided the pillow that Sam threw at her. The pillow died on the floor behind Frasier's bed. Carter fell back onto her bed, she had no more energy.
