Good evening readers!
So I did do a 5th chapter today because I genuinely could not wait to write certain parts of this chapter.
This chapter will warm your heart and then break your soul a sentence later so be prepared.
~Wise Girl~
Percy III
My day could have been ruined by Annabeth's dad's comment but if I put myself in a bad mood every time someone didn't like me I would never be in a good mood. I learned that a long time ago. I sent my family ahead towards the mess hall when the conch horn blew but I had planned a special evening for Annabeth and I long before our parents decided they would be spending the summer with us. Her dad's comments may have put a damper on the mood for later but I know that Annabeth truly didn't care what her dad thought. I jogged down to the Athena cabin just as everyone was walking out to go to dinner.
"Lady Athena" I bowed my head to her mother "may I borrow Annabeth for the evening?"
"I do not see why not" Athena nodded and Annabeth looked so relieved to be getting away from her dad.
"Malcolm" Annabeth announced and her deputy joined her at her right side "please escort my father and Cabin 6 to dinner."
"Yes ma'am" Malcolm smiled and started to lead them away. Malcolm had helped me set up the picnic for the night and a couple other things he knows she would love.
I took Annabeth's hand and led her away to the Canoe Lake.
"So what is so urgent you needed to take me away from my family?" she smiled at me as we held hands and leaned into each other.
"I know your birthday is next week but I figured we would start the celebrations early" I smiled as we came over the crest and could finally see the water and the sand. There was a picnic blanket laid out and someone had scattered rose petals and lit some candles. The food was the same as what was being served in the mess hall but it was out own private dinner.
"Oh Percy" she said softly and laid her head on my shoulder. Her eyes were the color of silver and they shined with the setting sun.
"Do you like it?" I asked hopefully. I really wanted to make her feel special for her birthday this year.
"I love it" she hugged my arm as we sat down on the blanket "and the roses and candles just set the mood."
"Piper helped with that a lot" I said "you know how hopeless I am when it comes to carrying out plans without you."
"Absolutely hopeless" she laughed and we started to eat our food as the sky turned from orange to purple and just as soon as the sun had officially set, the lanterns shined on and illuminated the beach for us. We ate and talked about what this summer may bring. Although having to host our parents all summer would prove to be difficult it was still better than how summers in the past 8 years have been.
"Let's take a walk" I stood and extended my hand to her "I promise I won't let you get wet."
"You always say that and somehow I always end up soaked" she laughed and took my hand. I pulled her up and we took our shoes off as to enjoy the feeling of the sand under our feet. We walked under the moonlight in comfortable silence.
After we had walked all the way to the pier I finally broke the silence.
"This is where we had our first kiss" I said and nudged her a little.
"Where the rest of the camp threw us into the lake" she laughed and nodded.
"I had waited for that kiss for 2 years" I smiled at her and she blushed "but I knew I loved you way before that. So far, in my life, you have been the only thing I've ever been sure about. The only thing I don't thing I would not survive losing."
"What about your mom?" she asked and I laughed sheepishly.
"Okay her too" I admitted "but what I'm trying to say is that you mean more to me than almost anything else. You turned my life around and you only know the half of it" we had made it to the end of the pier where we had etched our initials in a heart to signify this is where we had our first kiss and where our relationship had really begun. "Everything I have done in the last few years I would do all again for you. I would walk through Tartarus all over again if that is what it took. You are my everything. If I have nothing else in this life I know I have you and that is all that matters to me" I turned to face her and she smiled up at me with the amazing smile I have vowed to always make sure was on her face when she was with me "I am nothing without you. You are so much more than just my girlfriend. You're my best friend and everything all wrapped into one. You're my Wise Girl." she had tears in her eyes now and my throat had a lump in it. I let go of her hand to pull the small box out of my pocket, before my nerves got the best of me, and started to lower myself down to one knee.
"Percy" she whispered, finally catching on to what was happening.
"I love you Annabeth Chase, Daughter of Athena" I said and held the ring box up, opened to reveal a beautiful engagement ring with a huge pearl as the center and small diamonds encrusted in a circle around it "And I will spend the rest of my life loving you if you'll have me. I know it's scary as a demigod to take this step but with you I know I can achieve anything. So, will you marry me?"
She was crying now and her free hand that I had let go of to get the ring out was covering her mouth. She was the most beautiful being in the entire world and I was so lucky to call her mine.
"Of course I'll marry you" she whispered, still crying.
"You will?" I asked and my face broke out into the biggest smile I have ever smiled.
"Yes!" she laughed and my heart could have leapt out of my chest from how she looked in the moonlight "Yes Seaweed Brain of course I'll marry you!"
I let out a laugh and I took the ring out to slip it on her finger. As I stood up I wrapped my arms around her to pick her up and spin her around. She laughed and grabbed my face in both hands to kiss it. I kept my arms wrapped around her waist as I kissed her back. I could die right now and be happier than anyone in Elysium. I set her down on her feet, still kissing her and she wrapped her arms around my neck. The kiss got deeper and I couldn't get enough of it. We pulled away for a moment and smiled at each other.
"The ring is beautiful" she smiled as she examined it under the shine of the moon.
"Tyson made it" I said with a smile and she laughed.
"I'm surprised he could keep it a secret" she said, laughing still as we walked back to our picnic blanket
"I told him it was for my mom" I admitted and sat back down on the blanket, pulling her down with me.
"Makes sense" she nodded and I couldn't help but noticed her smile had not left her face since the moment we got on the beach.
I couldn't help but kiss her again and she kissed me back, turned her body to face mine. As if on instinct, I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her onto my lap, facing me. Our hands were tangled in each other's hair and in that moment I wished we didn't have guests staying with us or I would have taken her back to my cabin. We pulled away from each other, both panting. I stared into her beautiful gray eyes and stroked one of her blonde curls away from her face.
"You're so beautiful" I whispered and she blushed. I laid back, pulling her with me so she was laying on top of me. We talked a bit longer and I played with her hair until we both fell soundly asleep on the beach.
I opened my eyes and panicked because I couldn't see anything; no mood, no stars and no lanterns.
"Annabeth!" I shouted and my voice echoed, leading me to believe I was in a room.
A sinister voice chuckled, the sound came from everywhere. It was feminine and it made the hair on his arms stand up.
"Who's there?!" I demanded and reached for Riptide but it was not in my pocket.
"Patience young demigod" the voice hissed "good things come to those who wait."
"Gaea?" I snarled, just mentioning her name made my blood run cold.
"Close" the voice laughed, taunting him "you have disrespected me Perseus Jackson."
"I don't even know who you are" I whipped my head around, searching for the owner of the voice.
"You will" she laughed "but first let me show you something."
Finally the darkness had lifted enough and I could finally see what was around, though I wish I hadn't.
My beautiful now fiancé was laying on the stone ground of what appeared to be a dungeon. There was a small window but it gave no clues as to where she was.
"Annabeth!" I yelled but she didn't move. Her shoulders were moving up and down which meant she was breathing.
"Yes" the voice laughed and the sound made me want to crawl into a hole myself "I have taken the thing you love the most."
"You'll pay for it" I said through gritted teeth. I noticed Annabeth was shivering and I wanted nothing more than to hold her and make her warm again.
"No!" the voice was suddenly angry "YOU will pay! You think you are invincible but I am here to tell you that you are not and you will lose. I will rage war on Olympus, Camp Half Blood AND New Rome. There is no place you can hide from me. I will destroy everything you hold dear."
"Ask the two guys who came before you if that plan worked out for them" I challenged.
She laughed again, man I was starting to hate her laugh.
"They were weak compared to me!" she gloated "they all got their powers from me! Even combined with the forces of those puny Olympians you cannot defeat me."
"I will" I declared "and I will enjoy every moment of it."
"Our time is up Perseus Jackson" she said sinisterly "until we meet again I leave you with this."
Out of nowhere Annabeth's body unfroze and she screamed. She was in pain. This unbodied voice was hurting her.
"I will destroy you" I growled but Annabeth's screams persisted and my gut clenched up even more than it already was.
"We will see about that Son of Poseidon" she laughed and everything faded away, except Annabeth's screams, they persisted until my eyes snapped open out of sleep to a bright sunny morning. I could still hear them in my head.
As soon as my eyes opened I looked where Annabeth had fallen asleep and my heart dropped when she wasn't there.
"No" I stood up and frantically looked around for her "please don't let it be true."
She was nowhere to be seen and even though I knew deep down I would not find her in Camp I begin to search. I whistled and Blackjack came trotting out of the sky. I didn't let him stop to mount him, I jumped on his back and urged him to fly. I flew overhead Camp, searching for any signs of her, getting more frantic with every moment.
After circling Camp a dozen times I dismounted the Pegasus and sprinted to Cabin 6. I did not even knock before I barged in.
"Percy!" Malcolm greeted me "What did sh-"
"Where's Annabeth?" I demanded and he frowned slightly.
"She was with you" he said "is something wr-" I didn't let him finish. I was out the door and sprinting to the Big House.
"Chiron!" I yelled as I burst through the front doors here as well.
"Percy my boy" Chiron said "what seems to be the problem?"
"Annabeth's gone" I said and fell onto a chair, admitting she wasn't here left a hole in my heart and now I was suddenly overcome with grief.
"Whatever do you mean?" Chiron asked and I laid it all out for him, including the dream "This is not good. Oh sweet Annabeth."
"What do you know?!" I demanded.
"I know only of a few beings more powerful than Gaea or Kronos" he said "some have already been defeated in the last decade but others have since been forgotten about."
"I need to know" I said "I need to know who took her."
"Patience Percy" Chiron said "there are a couple options here and none of which are good. Being as it is a woman's voice there maybe only one explanation. Chaos."
I am so sorry for the twist please do not take it personally and wish death upon me. I'm only 24.
If you like it please give it a like or review. Lets put this baby on the reading list.
