LOOPS, SPRINGS AND RAINBOWS: SONIC THE HEDGEHOG REVEALS HIS SEXUALITY

It seems the Chaos Emeralds aren't the only colourful aspect of Sonic the Hedgehog's life! The hero of Mobius has recently revealed that he is in a relationship with his long-time associate: Miles Prower, better known as Tails the Fox. Of course, the detail that shocked us all was not the fact that he was taken (sorry, ladies!), but the fact that his chosen partner was also a male. Understandably, in the week since this reveal, there has been quite a lot of controversy brewing among his once-adoring public. Some, like those of us at Ciao, Chao!, are entirely on Sonic and Tails' side here, and remain as their loyal fans, but others have turned their backs on the two heroes, even including some of their former allies, such as Vector the Crocodile, former head of the Chaotix Detective Agency, and Vanilla the Rabbit, mother to Cream the Rabbit. Surprisingly, however, Dr "Eggman" Robotnik seems to be a defender of Mobius' new couple, stating that "it doesn't matter if they're gay or straight. I'll destroy them all the same." Yeah right, Eggy! Good luck with that one!

Another surprising supporter was Amy Rose, Sonic's fellow hedgehog and queen of the hammer. It's no secret that Miss Rose was fond of Sonic as more than a friend, a feeling that was not reciprocated. One would expect her to be quite unhappy with this turn of events, but instead, she is among the biggest defenders of this couple. In fact, she told one of our other reporters that she was the one who suggested that SonTails got together in the first place. So, thank you, Amy Rose!

A couple of days after their big announcement, I managed to get a short chat with Sonic and Tails, just outside Twinkle Park (wonder what they were doing there?). I started by offering my congratulations, before asking if they wanted to stop for a quick interview. Of course, they said yes, and this is what followed:

How long have you been together for?

S: It's gotta be two months now. We had a couple of hiccups at the start, but we've been going strong since then.

What made you decide to announce it now?

T: We told some of our closest friends a while ago, and it went a lot better than expected, with some obvious exceptions. I was still a little anxious, honestly, so we decided to wait a little longer before announcing it to the rest of the world.

S: But, we still hadn't been on an actual date yet, so we decided that we should just announce it and get it out of the way before people started speculating!

Were you expecting the backlash?

S: Unfortunately, yeah. We had been together for around two weeks before we tested the waters by telling Cream and Vanilla about us, which obviously didn't end too brilliantly. We definitely didn't think that she'd be the only person anywhere to have negative opinions about us.

T: My confidence took a bit of a hit after that, but thankfully, on a more positive side, we also weren't really expecting the insane amount of support we've received, either!

What's next for the two of you?

S: Honestly, not much will be changing. We'll still go on our adventures, still battle against Mr Baldy McNosehair, and just enjoy ourselves as much as possible!

T: I mean, there will be a few changes, such as considerably more hand-holding, but Sonic's pretty much nailed it! We plan to just keep doing what we've been doing, and that's all there really is to it!

And, with that, they turned and walked into the park. I did notice that they got in for free!

I decided to do something a little different here. This is not the start of ACT III, it's more of an interlude (it'll be in the title anyway, but let's call it ACT II.v). I wrote it this way because I didn't really want to write out another announcement from Sonic and Tails, because it would feel like I was just repeating myself. I think this format worked, but don't worry if you disagree: I'll be back to writing in the regular style when ACT III finally begins. Once again, I can't exactly confirm when I'll be uploading the next chapter, but I'll try to have it out within the first half of April.

But, that's all I have to say for this AN, so I'll see when ACT III finally kicks off! Ciao for now!
