A/N: As you can see, I am modifying the initial narrative: perhaps the most important narrative, as it is most linked to the possibilities of the show and its logical and consistent forces. What makes the interaction between Ahsoka, Anakin and Padme different from the one with Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme, the latter certainly being far more tragic. Thus, in this story, is tragedy being averted, or merely delayed?

Anakin stood between his wife and apprentice. What do I do now? He thought deeply and intensely. Anger fluttered within him, the rage of the dark side; but something stood between that; stood to temper it down - whether it was successful or not, he did not know. But it presented itself as an obstacle to thwart his passion.

"Why are you here, Ahsoka? Weren't you on Mandalore…?"

What do they expect me to do? He thought. Run away? I am not running away anywhere.

Noises erupted outside - a twinging sound - something Anakin was used to; something he had heard many often times the past three years.

A loud bang began as well; that the trio began hearing. Padme has stood up and was looking intensely at her husband; or the dark, eyrie ghost that Anakin was presenting.

Ahsoka heard the sound. She grew alarmed and ready to combat it, as she would normally, as was expected of her, and her Master.

"Anakin. Something is happening."

Anakin looked at her in acknowledgment; and gripped his lightsaber. The sound of a B1 battle droid was now discernible.

Droids will not be a problem, thought Anakin.

"We have to leave." Ahsoka said quietly.

"Leave?" Anakin said infuriated. "I am not running away."

Ahsoka did not know what to say. There isn't anyway to go, she thought.

But the flames erupted further, and suddenly, far away on the horizon, if there ever is a horizon on a planet like Mustafar, Ahsoka and Anakin finally spotted a single lone battle droid coming at them.

They were all deactivated, Anakin thought. The systems have been shut down. How can there be a lone droid?

Ahsoka answered his question. "It isn't unheard of for lone battle droids to escape the main programming."

It's hardly a problem. That droid will easily be eliminated by me... or Ahsoka.

But they heard laser sparks bursting in random and incongruent and inconsistent directions.

A huge burst split the platform, carving out a piece of the right side not to far off from the ship and that fell into the lava near.

Anakin walked back slowly to Padme and Ahsoka.

They are right; we should leave. Where to? That does not matter as of now.

A/N: Yes, the edit is finally done. I had originally thought of making the encounter more dramatic, but I believe it is best to reserve more high stake and dramatic tensions towards the middle and later acts of a novel; this was the pre-climax scene of RotS, but, here, it is the first act, and therefore, a scene, where tension takes place; but does not culminate in all out explosion of actors.
