Obi-Wan considered everything intensely.
Yoda arrived back. He had failed.
"Master Yoda, I am not able to find Anakin. Senator Organa is speaking with Padme… or at least he is trying to…"
"Find him you must, Obi-Wan…" Yoda replied.
Yes, I must find him. But. It feels not right, right now.
Organa arrived back.
"Master Yoda…" He said, sympathetically and hopefully.
"Failed, I have, Senator… Into exile, I must go…"
"Don't lose hope. You can still serve in our mission." He answered, his voicing comprising of his quiet and restraint optimism.
Yoda did not speak.
"Senator, you spoke with Padme?" Asked Obi-Wan.
"I did. But as I told you, I will not divulge any details as to her…
"I can only tell you that she is extremely distraught. She and Ahsoka Tano feel however, that there is some calm.
"Anakin is very… inflamed right now… It seems he turned to Palpatine because he had the power to save Padme. He had visions of her dying."
Obi-Wan thought deeply.
Visions?
He spoke to me about these visions. About his mother. I never pressed on with Anakin on these things… I always gave him space… I never intruded… I kept his secrets, including… his relationship with Padme…
But that could hardly turn Anakin to the dark side. It never is… To commit such evil acts that he has done requires a reason far more powerful, lustful and dark…
Yoda spoke. "Reasons for Anakin's turn matter not…"
Obi Wan knew Yoda did not lack empathy – as Yoda's student as a youngling and a member of his Order, Obi-Wan knew how much compassion and kindness the Grand Master had… "Fear of loss is the path towards the dark side. Tried we all did to teach Skywalker this…"
"Ahsoka is speaking with Anakin." Said Organa. "He seems to be listening to them. Presently he is exhausted and resting. I know… of the horrors he has committed. I feel them too.
"But he isn't on an action tour right now. And let's not move him back towards that."
"How is Ahsoka?" Asked Obi-Wan. Why was Ahsoka with Padme…? Anakin and his former Padawan… I don't know at all where Anakin is right now. Who exactly is safe around him... and who exactly is he safe with.
"She is all right. He seems to trust and respect her. Ahsoka seems to be fiercely loyal towards Anakin. She is hardly on his path, though."
Obi-Wan probed his mind. Senator Organa is right. I feel we should trust in the Force and Ahsoka… and Padme… and... Anakin? The man who has just killed innocent children on the floor and who has betrayed the very family they had...
"Master Yoda…" He turned to his teacher.
"Anakin, gone he is… Turning back there is none." Obi-Wan sensed in Yoda, his own sense of grief and longing for the apprentice he too loved dearly...
"But I feel we should give this event some more time." If I don't chase after him, I wait and see... is there more news? I wish I could speak to Ahsoka. The Emperor can attack anywhere. I must see where we can assist and protect.
Yoda considered. "Agree with you… I do."
